How to make moonshine with rosehip and rosehip tincture with moonshine

Moonshine with rose hips is made taking into account the fact that the fruits have a low glucose content, so you will need a lot of sugar for the mash. To ensure that the drink is free of toxic impurities, it is purified by repeated rectification. The color of the tincture will depend on what part of the plant was used.

Is it possible to infuse moonshine with rose hips?

An alcohol-containing base is the best option for preserving all the components of fresh fruits. For this purpose, tinctures based on moonshine prepared at home from rose hips are suitable. A guarantee that the alcohol is pure, without toxic impurities, is double distillation. Then dried or fresh raw materials are added to it. Roots, flowers and fruits are used.

The benefits of rosehip moonshine

During the fermentation process, the chemical composition of the berries is completely preserved, but during thermal processing, 40% of the beneficial substances may be lost. Rose hip-based alcohol has the following properties:

  • sedative – reduces irritability, improves sleep quality;
  • bactericidal – stops the proliferation of bacteria and fungi when applied externally;
  • diuretic – eliminates swelling;
  • anti-inflammatory and antipyretic – helps to cope with viral infections more easily;
  • diaphoretic – removes toxins;
  • immunomodulatory - improves the body's resistance.

Regular use of small doses of the drug helps lower blood pressure.

Useful properties of rosehip tincture on moonshine

In moonshine tincture, all the beneficial qualities of rose hips are fully preserved:

  1. Ascorbic acid is necessary to strengthen the body's resistance and hematopoiesis.
  2. Vitamins E, A, B1, B2, PP, K have an antioxidant effect, improve the quality of visual function, promote the complete absorption of calcium, and improve blood circulation.
  3. Calcium, potassium and magnesium strengthen the muscular structure of the heart and blood vessel walls.
  4. Sodium is necessary for the normal functioning of the genitourinary and digestive systems.
  5. Phosphorus is a building element of bone tissue.

Rosehip drink contains high iron content, which is necessary to prevent anemia. This element is involved in the production of pancreatic hormones necessary for digestion.

Selection and preparation of ingredients

Rosehip varieties do not play a role in processing: wild-growing specimens and cultivars are suitable.

Plant raw materials are taken from plants located only in an environmentally friendly area

Harvesting and processing of fruits:

  1. Fully ripe rose hips are harvested from mid-September until cold weather. The berries do not fall off even at the first frost.
  2. Pluck together with the peduncle.
  3. Do not take fruits with stains and mold on the surface.
  4. For mash, the berries are cleaned of small debris, but not washed.
  5. To make a tincture, cut off the stem and dry part of the receptacle from the raw material. Then the berries are washed under running water.

Preparation and processing of rhizomes:

  1. They dig for raw materials at the end of autumn, when the berries are fully ripe and the leaves have fallen.
  2. Take young branches of the current or last season.
  3. Root shoots are chosen 1 cm thick.
  4. To harvest, you can pry the bush with a shovel, take the required amount of raw materials and return the seedling to its place.
  5. The raw materials are washed and the top hard layer is removed with a knife.
  6. Cut into thin pieces 5–8 cm long.
  7. Lay out on cloth and dry in the shade in a well-ventilated place.
  8. Stir occasionally to prevent mold from forming.

High-quality dried raw materials have a dark beige color with a pinkish tint.

If you need a tincture of moonshine on rosehip flowers, the raw materials are prepared during the period of active flowering:

  1. Choose fully bloomed buds, without petals damaged by insects.
  2. Cut with scissors along with the stalk.
  3. If you have time, you can pick only the petals.
  4. Raw materials are sorted out and low-quality ones are thrown away.
  5. Wash with warm water, spread on a cloth and dry well.

Flowers are cut selectively so as not to leave the bush without fruits

A simple recipe and how to infuse moonshine with rose hips

Fresh fruits are used as raw materials. You can get a strong alcoholic drink without distillation. Fermentation will take up to 90 days.

Ingredients for rosehip moonshine recipe for a 3-liter container:

  • water – 2.3 l;
  • dry yeast – 5 g;
  • fresh fruits - 2 cups;
  • sugar – 1 kg.

Cooking technology:

  1. All components are placed in the jar, the fruits are pre-washed.
  2. Install a water seal or a rubber glove with a puncture on the finger.
  3. Place in a room with a temperature of +25–28 0C.
  4. When fermentation is over, there will be sediment at the bottom.
  5. Carefully drain the liquid using a straw and filter through activated carbon.

The drink is not clear enough, with a strength of up to 35%, so it is better to distill the mash.

How to make mash

Approximately 1 kg of sugar will yield 700–800 ml of moonshine. For fermentation, use a container on which you can place a shutter. It is convenient to prepare the base for an alcoholic drink in a ten-liter glass jar. Take fresh fruits or infuse moonshine mash with dry rose hips. The amount of raw materials is the same.

Components:

  • yeast (dry) – 20–25 g:
  • sugar – 3–3.5 kg;
  • rose hips – 500 g.

Preparation:

  1. Fresh rose hips are not washed, cleaned of debris and passed through a meat grinder. If the berries are dried, then they are crushed with a coffee grinder.
  2. You can use more sugar than indicated in the recipe. To speed up the fermentation process, yeast is added at the rate of 5–7 g per 1 kg.
  3. The raw materials are placed in a jar, sugar is dissolved in water. Add dry yeast.
  4. All components are combined in a jar, water is added to the hangers of the glass container.
  5. Install a water seal or rubber glove.
Advice! Completion of the process is determined by the absence of gas released into the liquid or the degree of fullness of the glove.

An optimal temperature regime is created for the mash - at least +25 0C. The process will take up to three weeks. The shutter is removed, covered with a nylon lid and allowed to brew for 24 hours.During this time, the sediment will completely sink to the bottom; it is separated using a thin hose. The rosehip moonshine infusion is ready for distillation.

To speed up the fermentation process, the berries can be crushed before storing.

Getting moonshine

You can preserve the bulk of the beneficial substances of fresh rose hips by single distillation, but the quality of the moonshine will be worse. To obtain a tincture on parts of a plant, it is recommended to purify the alcohol-containing drink by repeated distillation.

The process takes place in three stages:

  1. The first rectified alcohol (the “head”) is characterized by a high content of methyl (a toxic compound). It is selected immediately during single distillation. If the process is double, then leave and collect at the beginning of re-distillation. This is the strongest part (up to 90%), it is approximately 10% of the total mass. When adding 3 kg of sugar, you get 100 ml of “head”.
  2. Next comes the middle, main part of the moonshine or “body”; the whole process is aimed at obtaining it. This is a liquid without toxic impurities, but containing fusel oils, which will not be present during secondary distillation. The “body” is taken until the alcohol drops to 35%.
  3. The last fraction or “tails” is characterized by low strength and an unpleasant odor. It is selected separately or distillation is stopped on it. Some advise taking moonshine with tails up to 45%, but this is wrong. The last fraction significantly reduces the quality.

Before repeated rectification, moonshine infused with rosehip
with a “head”, but without “tails”, dilute with water to 20% and distill, take up to 40%.

To obtain homemade alcohol, a moonshine still designed at home is suitable.
