When preparing for the winter, modern housewives willingly use an assistant - kitchen appliances. This saves a lot of time, dishes are cooked at the optimal temperature and you don’t need to constantly monitor the time. Therefore, quince jam in a slow cooker is a recipe that we will pay attention to in our article.

For those who decide to make wonderful jam for the first time, you need to know some nuances. Quince in its raw form is rarely admired by anyone. Although the fruit is a relative of the familiar pears and apples, its popularity is hampered by the hardness and specific taste of the fruit.

But confitures, jams and preserves made from quince are very tasty. The whole secret is in the heat treatment, which makes the quince both soft and juicy.

A simple recipe for jam in a slow cooker

As always, there are a lot of cooking options, because every housewife loves to experiment. There are simpler recipes for the first time. And there are more intricate ones for experienced cooks. Let's start with something simple.

We will prepare jam from two ingredients - quince and granulated sugar. We will need 1 kilogram of fruit, and a little less sugar - 900 grams. Let's start the process:

  1. Wash the quince thoroughly, dry it and cut it in half. This must be done in order to carefully cut out the core.
  2. Cut each half into slices

    put everything in a bowl

    and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  3. Quince is not a very juicy fruit, so cover the bowl with gauze and set aside for 2-3 days so that the slices release the juice.

Important! During this time, periodically shake and mix the contents of the bowl.

As soon as the fruit releases enough juice (don’t wait more than three days!), transfer the mixture to the multicooker bowl.

For jam, turn on the “Jam/Dessert” mode and set the timer for 25 minutes. If the multicooker model does not have such a mode, then the “Stewing” mode perfectly replaces it.

This is where our actions with the multicooker end. After the set time has passed, you can taste the aromatic and juicy jam. This option is suitable for quick consumption.

Recipe for jam for the winter

In this case, we will have to cook the workpiece in stages, and not at once. The ratio of components remains the same as in the previous recipe. Some housewives recommend adding lemon during winter preparation, but you can do without it. Quince itself will add sourness in the right amount.

We prepare the fruit as described above - wash it, remove the core, cut it into slices 1.5 cm thick.

In a deep bowl, mix the pieces of fruit with sugar and leave for 2-3 days. If there is not enough juice, you can add a little water. If there is a lot of it, then you shouldn’t pour it out - add it to tea. It will become more aromatic and acquire a sourness, like with a slice of lemon.

Transfer the contents into the multicooker bowl and select a mode.Be sure to take into account the technical characteristics of the multicooker. Make sure the jam comes to a boil. If the “Stewing” mode does not give such a result, set it to “Baking”. Timer - for half an hour. After the process is completed, do not remove the jam from the multicooker, but let it cool completely. Then repeat the cooking twice, but for 15 minutes each. Each time we wait for the jam to cool completely. When ready, the quince changes color and the syrup becomes thick.

Now quince jam in a slow cooker can be put into sterile jars and stored for the winter. But you can eat it right away too!

Useful tips for cooks

Place the quince slices with sugar in a non-metallic-lined container. Otherwise, the taste of the jam will be worse.

When transferring the mixture into the multicooker bowl, be sure to scoop up all undissolved sugar with a silicone spatula.

You can cook jam not in 2-3 steps, but much longer. The more times you boil quince jam in a slow cooker, the thicker the resulting mass will be.
