The Cherry Paint tomato is a relatively new cocktail hybrid with small round fruits with uniformly dense pulp. It is valued for its original color and high yield.

History of selection

The Cherry Paint tomato is a hybrid variety of Russian selection, the author of which is considered to be the director of the Partner agricultural firm V. Blokin-Mechtalin. It went on sale in 2017 and immediately became popular among local gardeners.

Attention! Cherry tomato colors were added to the State Register of the Russian Federation in 2019, designating it as a first-generation hybrid.

Description and characteristics of the tomato variety Cherry paint

The culture belongs to tall plants of the indeterminate type. When grown in greenhouses, the height of a Cherry tomato bush reaches 2-2.5 m, in open ground - a maximum of 1 m.Its flexible light green stems are not prone to forming numerous stepsons and lateral shoots and are covered with narrow, slightly elongated leaves of medium size. The plates are dark green and have jagged edges.

The first brush is formed above the ninth leaf, subsequent ones - every 2-3 plates

During flowering, the Cherry tomato is covered with small flowers that look like miniature bells. Smooth, round fruits are collected in clusters reminiscent of grape bunches. Each of them contains 20-30 tomatoes weighing up to 20 g. They are covered with delicate, smooth, bright yellow skin, which can acquire an orange color as they ripen.

Ripening time

The Cherry Paint tomato is an early-ripening variety that ripens 95 days after the mass emergence of shoots. Fruiting begins in early July and ends at the end of September, when the average daily air temperature drops to +10 0C. New fruit clusters are constantly formed on the bushes, and unripe tomatoes quickly reach condition in the light.

Attention! Tomatoes on the same bunch ripen at the same time. That’s why they are removed with whole brushes.

Yield of Tomato Cherry Paint

The variety is characterized by good productivity. With proper care, up to 3 kg of tomatoes can be harvested from each bush growing in a greenhouse. When planting in open ground, the yield decreases slightly.

To stimulate the appearance of new fruit clusters, it is important to remove ripe bunches in time

Resistance to adverse factors

Cherry tomato paint is a cold-resistant variety. It is not afraid of damp, cool weather, but cannot withstand frost. The variety is characterized by good immunity.It is resistant to Fusarium wilt, tobacco mosaic virus, verticillium and cladosporiosis.

Growing regions

In greenhouse conditions, Cherry tomato is successfully grown throughout the Russian Federation. Tomatoes of this variety are planted in open ground in the south and in the regions of the middle zone.

Purpose and application

Cherry tomato colors are classified as cocktail varieties of the cherry type. Its round, miniature fruits have a fleshy, juicy pulp that leaves a fruity aftertaste in the mouth. Unusual yellow tomatoes are eaten raw, pickled and used to decorate various dishes. They are used to make all kinds of salads, snacks and winter preparations.

Advantages and disadvantages

The Cherry Paint tomato is an early ripening hybrid characterized by high yield and resistance to adverse factors. Neat miniature tomatoes are stored for quite a long time in a cool, dark place and do not burst during heat treatment.

Yellow-fruited tomato varieties are rich in sugars, vitamins and carotene and are successfully used in dietary nutrition

Pros:

  • pleasant taste;
  • early maturation;
  • transportability;
  • good yield;
  • long fruiting;
  • immunity to diseases.

Minuses:

  • need for support.

How to grow Cherry tomato paint F1

Cherry tomato is grown using the seedling method, mainly in protected soil. Sowing of tomato seeds begins towards the end of March. Before planting, they are kept for half an hour in a weak solution of potassium permanganate, washed and soaked in a growth stimulator for at least 30-40 minutes.Seeds prepared in this way are sown in plastic containers filled with moist purchased soil substrate or a mixture of equal amounts of peat, sand and garden soil, sprinkled with a layer of soil maximum 20 mm thick and covered with a transparent film to create a greenhouse effect. In order for crops to germinate more quickly, they are provided with 12-hour daylight and a temperature of +22-25 0C.

When the first shoots appear from underground, the container is freed from the film cover and transferred to a cooler room. After four true leaves are formed on the plants, they are transplanted into individual plastic cups. Further care of seedlings comes down to timely watering and fertilizing.

Cherry tomato colors are planted so that there are 3-4 bushes on each square meter

Transplantation of seedlings to a permanent place in greenhouses is carried out in the first ten days of May. Do not keep the seedlings on the windowsill longer so that they do not outgrow. The seedlings are carefully removed from the cups, trying not to disturb the earthen ball, and planted in pre-prepared holes. Then the plantings are watered with cool, settled water and provided with reliable support.

Care instructions

Although the Cherry Paint tomato is undemanding in care, to obtain a rich harvest and improve the taste characteristics of the fruit, gardeners must follow the basic rules of agricultural technology, which include:

  1. Watering. The soil under the tomato bushes is moistened as the top layer dries. On average this is done once a week. For irrigation, use non-cold, settled water. It is poured strictly at the root, not allowing it to get on the leaves.
  2. Application of fertilizers. Tomatoes are fertilized several times per season.During the period of active growth, phosphate or nitrogen-containing fertilizers are applied to the soil. Later, the bushes are fertilized with organic matter and complex mineral compounds.
  3. Soil treatment. The soil under tomatoes is regularly loosened to ensure the flow of oxygen to the roots and prevent stagnation of moisture, which contributes to the development of fungal infections. At the same time, the tree trunk circle and row spacing are weeded to remove weeds that absorb water and nutrients from the soil.
  4. Hilling. Tomatoes are prone to forming additional roots that need to be covered with soil. Hilling of bushes is carried out twice per season: when root buds appear on the shoots near the soil surface and as soon as the lower part of the stem turns slightly blue.

Forming a tomato bush with Cherry paint

The bushes are formed into 2-3 stems, promptly tearing off wilted leaves, dried out and excess shoots. The plates located at the bottom of the plant are removed gradually, a maximum of two pieces at a time, so as not to provoke cracking of the tomatoes.

Attention! The leaves are torn off until all specimens located below the first fruit cluster are removed.

To support the shoots, tomatoes are tied to a support with soft twine, braiding the stem under each internode. At the same time, they get rid of stepsons - shoots growing from the axils of the leaves.

Disease and pest control

Although the Cherry tomato is resistant to major diseases, under unfavorable conditions it is easily affected by late blight. This infection of fungal etiology occurs both in unprotected soil and in greenhouses. The spores of the pathogen remain in the soil for a long time and are the first to infect the root system of plants. Gradually, the infection spreads to the leaves and fruits.They become covered with brown spots and rot. To save the harvest, the plantings are treated with Fitosporin.

High humidity and a large difference between night and day temperatures are considered favorable conditions for the development of late blight.

Conclusion

The Cherry Paint tomato is a popular hybrid of Russian selection, classified as a cocktail variety. It is low maintenance and ideal for pickling and winter preparations.

Reviews from summer residents about Cherry tomato paints

Svetlana Morozova, Leningrad region
Considering the climate in our region, I decided to plant early ripening tomatoes. From the many varieties, I intuitively chose Cherry paints and was not mistaken. The tomatoes hung on the bushes until October. I even collected them green, they then ripened at home.
Oksana Pronina, Vladivostok
I constantly grow cherry tomatoes. This year the choice fell on the Cherry paint variety. I have never tasted such delicious tomatoes. They turned out to be very juicy and sweet, almost like honey.
