If you want to grow a large harvest of ideal tomatoes, then it’s time to pay attention to the “Evpator” variety. This “brainchild” of domestic breeders amazes with the volume of fruiting, taste and external characteristics of the fruit. Small, evenly rounded tomatoes are excellent not only for preparing salads, but also for winter canning. Growing Evpator tomatoes is quite simple. We will provide all the necessary recommendations for this and a full description of the crop variety later in the article.
Description of the variety
The Evpator tomato was registered by domestic breeders in 2002. The producer and originator of the variety is the Gavrish company. Thanks to its excellent agrotechnical characteristics, "Evpator" is widely used among farmers. It is preferably grown in a greenhouse, since it is in protected conditions that the variety is able to fully demonstrate its advantages.
Characteristics of bushes
Tomato "Evpator" is an indeterminate hybrid. Its bushes are able to grow and bear fruit for an unlimited period of time.It is preferable to grow them in greenhouses, because it is in protected conditions that a favorable microclimate can be maintained until late autumn and thanks to this, the maximum volume of harvest can be collected.
Indeterminate bushes must be regularly and carefully formed. Tomatoes of the "Evpator" variety, up to 2 m high, are pinched, leaving only 1-2 main, fruit-bearing stems. As the plants grow, they should be tied into a support.
The variety "Evpator" produces ovaries in large quantities. The first simple inflorescence appears above the 9th leaf. Higher up the stem, flowers adorn every 3rd leaf. Each inflorescence produces 6-8 tomatoes at once, which ensures good yield of the variety as a whole.
Characteristics of vegetables
The external description of the tomatoes of the "Evpator" variety is excellent: the tomatoes are small, weighing approximately 130-170 g. The fruits, equal in size, have a smooth, glossy surface, and are red in color. Ripe vegetables have dense pulp with 4-6 seed chambers. The amount of dry matter in tomatoes is 4-6%.
The taste of tomatoes is wonderful, harmoniously combining acidity and sweetness. When cut, Evpator tomatoes emit a pleasant, bright aroma. Ripe vegetables are suitable for preparing fresh and canned dishes, sauces, and tomato juice.
Dense tomatoes retain their freshness well for a long period of time. Vegetables can also be transported over long distances without any problems.
Productivity
The ripening period of tomatoes of the "Evpator" variety is average in duration: approximately 100 days pass from the day of seed germination to harvest. The first ripe tomatoes can be tasted 75-80 days after seed germination.
The indeterminate nature of tomatoes and the large number of ovaries on each inflorescence allow for excellent yield. So, from every 1 m2 soil, it is possible to collect up to 40 kg of ripe, tasty and aromatic tomatoes. Due to its high yield, the “Evpator” tomato variety is grown not only in private farmsteads, but also on an industrial scale.

Disease resistance
Like most hybrids, the Evpator tomato has genetic protection against many diseases. Only fomoz or dry spotting can cause significant damage to tomatoes. In the fight against Phoma, it is necessary to remove fruits with primary signs of the disease and treat the plants with special preparations, for example, you can use “Hom”. The development of the disease can be prevented by reducing the amount of nitrogen fertilizers and reducing watering of plants.
Dry spotting also poses some threat to the Evpator variety of tomatoes. Only special drugs, such as Tattu and Antrakol, are effective against this disease.
In addition to the diseases listed above, insects can also cause damage to plants:
- the gnawing cutworm can be destroyed mechanically or by treating tomatoes with Strela;
- You can fight whiteflies using the drug “Confidor”.
Of course, the use of chemicals to combat diseases and viruses in the process of growing tomatoes is not preferable, because the decay period of these substances is long and can affect the environmental friendliness of the fruits themselves. The use of special chemicals is permissible only as a last resort, when it comes to the complete destruction of a crop. Preventive measures to combat diseases are weeding, loosening and mulching the soil in the tree trunk circle of the plant.
Advantages and disadvantages of the variety
Having studied the main characteristics and description of the Evpator tomato variety, we can safely talk about its existing advantages and disadvantages. So, the positive aspects of growing tomatoes are:
- record high yield;
- excellent taste and stunning external characteristics of the fruit;
- friendly ripening of vegetables;
- equal size and shape of tomatoes;
- high resistance to major diseases.
It was precisely the many significant advantages that made the “Evpator” variety popular among gardeners. The disadvantages of the variety are relative:
- the indeterminate variety requires careful formation of the bush and garter;
- the ability to obtain a bountiful harvest only in greenhouse conditions;
- The genetics of the variety do not allow tomatoes to resist absolutely all diseases and pests.
Thus, to get good results from growing Evpator tomatoes, you need to acquire a greenhouse and knowledge about the formation of indeterminate bushes. Some information about this can be found in the video:
Features of cultivation
Tomatoes of the "Evpator" variety are unique. They are able to successfully grow and bear fruit even in the northernmost regions of the country.Breeders classify this variety as belonging to the 3rd light zone, which allows it to be grown in the Murmansk, Arkhangelsk regions, the Komi Republic and other “difficult” regions.
It is recommended to sow seeds of the “Evpator” variety for seedlings in mid-to-late March. At the stage of the appearance of the second true leaf, plants should be planted in isolated pots. By the end of May, as a rule, consistently warm weather has established itself, which means you can plant tomato seedlings in the ground. The age of the plants by this time should reach 45 days, and the height should be at least 15 cm. Such grown but not yet flowering seedlings best adapt to new conditions and quickly grow greenery.
When growing seedlings, special attention should be paid to fertilizing. Young tomatoes quickly deplete even the most nutritious soil and, due to a lack of microelements, begin to get sick. So, throughout the entire growing period, young plants should be fed 3-4 times. The last feeding of the seedlings should consist of adding a large amount of potassium fertilizers, which will activate the root system and allow the tomatoes to take root faster and better in the new growing location.
After planting “Evpator” tomatoes at a permanent growing site, you should also be attentive to the condition of the tomatoes and regularly feed them with organic and mineral substances. Only with proper care and regular feeding can you get a really good harvest of tasty tomatoes of the “Evpator” variety.
