Tomato Pink Bush: characteristics and description of the variety

Many gardeners prefer pink-fruited tomato varieties. They are attractive and have a special mild taste. The appearance of the Pink Bush hybrid seeds on the market was a sensation among vegetable growers. Low tomato bushes are strewn with pink fruits. The hybrid was developed by the Japanese company Sakata. In Russia, the Pink Bush tomato was registered in 2003.

Features of tomato

The characteristics and description of the mid-early variety indicate that pink fruits adorn the Pink Bush hybrid bush 90-100 days after germination. The fruits are distinguished by enviable uniformity and early ripening. They are not afraid of heat burns, because tomatoes are protected from the rays of the hot sun by thick foliage. Tomatoes are grown outdoors in regions with mild climates. In harsh weather conditions, the hybrid is recommended for growing in greenhouses.

Pink Bush tomato bushes are resistant to changes in humidity. The yield of the hybrid reaches 10-12 kg per 1 sq. m with careful agricultural technology. One bush produces 2 kg of beautiful fruits that do not crack. Tomatoes are consumed fresh and prepared. Due to their density, the fruits are used for drying.

Important! Plants do without tying. But if gardeners do not mulch the beds, it is better to tie up the brushes.

Benefits of pink-fruited tomatoes

Pink tomato fruits have a delicate taste. They are sweeter than red ones, but do not compromise on the content of lycopene, carotene, vitamins, microelements and organic acids.

  • Pink-fruited tomatoes contain a large amount of selenium, which increases immunity and improves mental activity;
  • All tomatoes contribute to the normalization of blood vessels;
  • Due to their properties, which are manifested both when fresh and heat-treated products are consumed, tomatoes are considered an effective prevention of cancer;
  • Pink tomatoes can fight depression.

Description of the plant

Tomato Pink Bush f1 is a determinate plant. In open beds the bush grows up to 0.5 m, in greenhouses it can stretch up to 0.75 m. The low-growing hybrid is attractive with a strong, medium-power standard stem that can withstand the load of ripe brushes. Internodes are short. The bush is well leafy. Quite large leaves of rich dark green color.

The fruits of the Pink Bush tomato variety are round, smooth, regular in shape, and bright pink in color. Tomatoes that ripen first are more flattened. The fruits on the cluster almost do not differ in their weight, they are the same, weighing from 180 to 210 g. Each has 6 seed chambers. The skin is dense, thin, glossy. The pulp is juicy, fleshy, sweet, containing up to 7% dry matter.

Reviews contain different opinions about the taste of the Pink Bush f1 tomato. Such impressions may form among gardeners whose plots are located on soils of different composition, which also affects the content of microelements in fruits.

Attention! Heat-loving tomatoes can change their soft, sweet taste under the influence of air temperature and light level to a harsher and fresher one.

Why is a hybrid attractive?

The Pink Bush tomato variety is suitable for growing in most regions of Russia in shelters. Taking care of your plants is rewarded with an amazing harvest. The fruits of the hybrid have time to ripen quickly. This tomato allows you to enjoy early vegetables and, thanks to its short development cycle, avoids common nightshade diseases. The advantages of the hybrid are obvious.

  • Excellent taste and high yield;
  • Tomato fruits do not crack, tolerate transportation well and retain their presentation for a long time;
  • The fruits are evenly colored, since in the phase of full ripeness there is no green spot around the stalk;
  • Suitable for dietary purposes;
  • Tomato plants are resistant to fusarium, tobacco mosaic viruses and verticillium;
  • The unpretentiousness of the Pink Bush tomato bush allows it not to be formed, and also not to remove leaves and stepsons.

It should be noted that tomato seedlings require increased attention. Since the Pink Bush tomato is a hybrid, new seeds must be purchased every year. Their cost is high, but pre-sowing treatment is not required.

Growing a hybrid

The seeds of the Pink Bush tomato variety are sown in March. The packages of branded seeds indicate that hybrid plants are planted in a permanent place at the age of 35-45 days. Taking into account the recommended timing and focusing on the weather conditions of the region, each vegetable grower determines the time for sowing seeds.

Ready-made soil is offered for tomato seedlings. Many vegetable growers prefer to prepare the soil themselves in the fall. Humus, sand or peat are added to the soil. Wood ash is added as fertilizer.

Sowing

Soil at room temperature is placed in a container for seedlings and sowing of tomatoes begins.

  • The seeds of the hybrid are placed on moist, slightly compacted soil with tweezers; they do not need to be soaked in growth stimulants or disinfected;
  • Sprinkle the tomato seeds on top with a thin layer of the same substrate or peat - 0.5-1.0 cm;
  • Water through a fine-mesh nozzle of a watering can, cover with glass or film;
  • The container is kept warm until the tomato seeds germinate at a temperature of 25 0WITH;
  • Every day the film is opened slightly for ventilation and gentle watering if the soil is dry.

Seedling care

With the appearance of tomato sprouts, the container is placed on a windowsill or other bright place. Now the temperature regime is changing so that the tomato seedlings become stronger and hardened.

  • For the first week, tomato sprouts should remain relatively cool, no more than 16 degrees. At night the temperature is even lower - up to 12 degrees;
  • In this case, the plants must be illuminated for at least 10 hours;
  • Fortified seven-day-old seedlings are provided with warmth, up to 22 degrees. This temperature must be maintained throughout the next month;
  • If tomato plants have two true leaves, they are picked. The tomatoes are immediately seated in separate cups;
  • Water the seedlings with warm, settled water as the soil dries;
  • Feed with ready-made complex fertilizers for tomato seedlings;
  • They begin to harden off month-old seedlings by first placing them in fresh air in the shade for 1-2 hours. Gradually, the time spent by tomato seedlings in the air or in the greenhouse is increased.

Advice! After picking and transplanting into separate containers, Pink Bush tomato plants should not be placed close to each other.This encourages upward growth, and the stem of this tomato should be low and strong.

Tomatoes in the garden

Tomato plants should be planted when they have 6-9 leaves, no flowers yet, but 1-2 future fruit clusters have formed. Overexposed tomato bushes, flowering or with ovaries, will not produce a large harvest.

  • 4-6 tomato bushes are placed on one square meter;
  • 1-2 liters of water are poured into the holes, the amount of liquid depends on the soil moisture. Add wood ash, a tablespoon of ammonium nitrate or other diluted fertilizers;
  • Water frequently during the first week to help the tomato plants take root faster. In the future - as the soil dries out and the amount of precipitation increases. Watering at the root of the plant or drip;
  • In areas with a short warm season, shoots are picked in the axils of the leaves. The plant devotes all its vital forces to ripening the fruits;
  • Tomatoes are fed 3-4 times with complex mineral fertilizers so that they fully display their excellent productive properties.

The first tomato fruits begin to ripen by the end of 3 months. After two weeks, all the fruits are ripe and ready for sale.

Comment! A good natural fertilizer for tomatoes is feeding from infusion weed or meadow grass. It can be mixed with a solution of mullein in water: 1 part of organic matter is diluted in 10 parts of water.

Greenhouse secrets

The humidity level in the greenhouse is monitored. Ventilate to eliminate the threat of the development of fungal diseases or the proliferation of tomato pests.

  • Mulching maintains soil moisture. Sawdust, hay, straw, and agrofibre are used for mulch. For this hybrid, mulching the soil is necessary, otherwise the fruit clusters will lie on the soil;
  • Plants of the Pink Bush tomato variety are tied up in the greenhouse so that the stem does not break.

Tomatoes of Japanese selection are a very good choice. Tasty and beautiful fruits will be a real decoration of the table.

Last year, my relatives and I bought the seeds of the Pink Bush hybrid. He didn't disappoint us. The harvest corresponded to the data stated on the packaging. I liked the look and taste of the fruits themselves.

Pink Bush takes up several rows in our garden. We grow the seedlings ourselves. Concerns, as usual. We just need more space for plants. We arrange two rows of cups. The plants are then freer.

I grow Pink Bush in a polycarbonate greenhouse. Friendly ripening, prominent fruits. Early tomatoes always sell well, and this hybrid has the advantage of pink color and shiny skin. Yes, and delicious. I advise you to plant it!

    1. Good afternoon, dear Svetlana!
      There are several reasons for low germination and uneven seed germination:
      1. Low quality seeds.
      2. Seed shelf life. Every year, the germination rate of tomato seeds decreases by 20-30%. Most often, when buying seeds, buyers pay little attention to the expiration date. But in vain.
      3.Even if the manufacturer has proven itself only on the positive side, the storage conditions of the seed material are of great importance, which not all sellers comply with.
      4. Banal non-compliance with the rules for preparing and sowing seeds.
      If you did everything correctly during the planting process, then, unfortunately, you came across low-quality seeds. In this case, we advise you to choose a company that provides high-quality seed to customers.
      We wish you high harvests!
