- Change the water periodically, preferably several times a day. This is done so that the bitter taste leaves the crusts as quickly as possible.
- Remove the orange peel from the water and cut into equal cubes or strips.
- Prepare sugar syrup. To do this, the liquid is heated over low heat until the crystals are completely dissolved.
- Cook for 15 minutes, then put the future candied fruits in the syrup.
- Cook them in syrup for 2-3 minutes.
- Leave to soak for 24 hours.
- Then cook again for 2 minutes. Leave again for a day.
- Repeat the same procedure a third time. Let it sit for a day, after which the candied fruits will be ready.
Quick recipe for candied orange peels
Candied orange peels can be prepared at home quite quickly - literally in seven hours. The essence of this method is that the peel is boiled for 3-4 minutes. After this, leave for several hours. To prepare candied fruits, take the following products:
- orange peel – 500 g;
- granulated sugar – 600 g;
- fresh lemon juice – 4 tbsp. l.;
- allspice peas – 3 pcs.;
- vanilla pods – 1 pc.;
- star anise – 1 pc.;
- water – 3.4 l.
Sequencing:
- Trim the zest, leaving a small part of the pulp (1 cm).
- Bring water (3 l) to a boil. Add the peel and cook for 3 minutes over low heat.
- Drain the zest in a colander and rinse under cold water for a few seconds.
- Place the peel back into boiling water. Cook for 3 minutes and repeat the same steps.
- Then prepare a syrup based on 400 ml of water, sugar and spices. The vanilla pod should first be opened and placed in the liquid without removing the seeds.
- Boil the syrup for 5 minutes, then add the crust fragments and simmer over very low heat for 1 hour.
- Then take them out and leave them to dry for 7 hours.
- After that, put them in a closed container. Best stored in the refrigerator.
Candied orange peels in the microwave
Candied orange zest can be prepared using a simple recipe in the microwave. To do this, take the following products:
- orange zest – 200 g;
- sugar – 100 g;
- powdered sugar – 2 tbsp.

- Prepare the zest by cutting it into long strips and place in a bowl.
- Pour boiling water and let stand for 5 minutes.

- peel – 300 g (about 6 oranges);
- granulated sugar – 1 kg;
- chocolate (cocoa) 70% – 300 g;
- chocolate flakes – 100 g.
The recipe is quite simple and consists of several steps:
- Remove the peel along with the white pulp.
- Cut into strips 7 cm long and 1 cm wide (no more).
- Pour in 0.5 liters of water. Boil for 10 minutes.
- Repeat the same steps twice more.
- Drain the water, pour 1 liter of cold liquid, stir 250 g of granulated sugar.
- Cook over low heat for 20 minutes.
- Add a new portion of granulated sugar (also 250 g). Cook for 15 minutes.
- Add another portion - 250 g.

- Melt the chocolate.
- Dip each piece of crust into the sweet mixture.

- Place on a plate in a single layer and let the chocolate harden completely. To speed up the process, you can put it in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.
Candied orange peels with butter
Butter gives a particularly delicate taste, which is why it is used everywhere in confectionery, including for making candied peels. This time you will need the following ingredients:
- granulated sugar – 200 g;
- water – 100 ml;
- peels – 100 g;
- salt – 2 g (pinch);
- butter – 10 g (1/2 tbsp).
Step-by-step instruction:
- Peel the fruit and cut into thin strips (without the white layer).
- Fill with cold water.
- Bring to a boil and cook over low heat for 20 minutes.
- Drain the water, pour in cold liquid.
- A similar cycle is repeated four more times.
- Then add a pinch of salt to the water.
- Pour 200 g of sugar into a saucepan, pour 100 ml of water and add butter.
- Add peels. Bring to a boil.

- Dust the tray with sugar and lay out the crusts so as to roll them thoroughly.
- Leave to dry at room temperature for two hours.

Candied orange peels can be made without sugar. To do this, take the following ingredients:
- orange peel – 50 g;
- Jerusalem artichoke syrup – 90-100 ml;
- water – 40 ml.
The recipe is quite simple and consists of the following steps:
