According to many gardeners, grapevines can only be grown in the southern regions of Russia. In fact, this is not true at all. There are many early ripening and frost-resistant varieties, which bear fruit even in harsher conditions.

The Sharov's Mystery grape variety can grow in any climate and give good results if the rules of agricultural technology are observed. The description, characteristic features of the variety, as well as photos sent by gardeners will be presented in the article. It is possible that this grape will have new fans.

History of the variety

Amateur enthusiast R.F. Sharov told the world about grapes. The year of birth of the variety is 1972, place of birth is the city of Biysk in the Altai Territory. Thanks to Sharov's experimental work, grape varieties were obtained that were able to survive and bear fruit in the harsh Siberian conditions. The “parents” of the grapes are the Far Eastern hybrid, as well as the Magarach 352 and Tukai varieties.

Description

A detailed description of the Sharov's Riddle grape variety and photos are necessary for gardeners to understand whether it is worth pursuing the crop.

Features of bushes

The grape variety is a plant with intensive development, characterized by long, but not thick flexible shoots. The variety's vine ripens early.The nodes are located at a close distance, on which large eyes are visible.

The grape leaves are shaped like dissected five-lobed hearts. There is no pubescence on the bright green plates.

The flowers of the Zagadka Sharova variety are bisexual, so you don’t have to worry about planting pollinators. As a rule, 2-3 inflorescences are formed on each shoot.

Attention! There are no peas in the variety's clusters even in unfavorable summers.

Bunches and berries

The bunches of the Sharov's Riddle grapes are not too large, ranging from 300-600 grams, depending on the climatic conditions of the region. The shape of the brush is winged.

The variety's clusters are loose and consist of rounded berries, reaching 2-3 grams in biological ripeness. During the filling period the berries are green and change color when ripe. Ripe bunches of grapes turn dark blue, almost black. Each berry is covered with a waxy coating, as in the photo.

The skin is thin but dense. Beneath it there is tender juicy pulp with 2-3 small seeds. The grapes taste sweet, with an interesting aroma of strawberries or raspberries. This feature of the variety is confirmed by gardeners and consumers in reviews. The fruits contain up to 22% sugar.

Advantages of the variety

To understand the characteristics of the variety, in addition to the description, photos and reviews of gardeners who are seriously involved in the crop, you need to know the pros and cons of grapes.

Advantages

The variety is early ripening, the brushes ripen 100 days from the moment the buds swell. In a greenhouse, the harvest is harvested 20-30 days earlier.

  1. The Sharov's Riddle grapes are high-yielding: a bush at the age of 5-6 years produces up to 10 kg of juicy and tasty fruits.
  2. Even from overripe bunches, the berries do not fall off; they become even tastier and sweeter if they dry out a little.
  3. After harvesting, grape bunches can be stored for up to three months, without losing their presentation or beneficial properties.
  4. Dense berries that hold tightly in the bunch contribute to high transportability. When transported over long distances, they do not wrinkle or leak.
  5. Grape variety Sharov's Mystery for universal use. The berries are delicious fresh, in compotes and jam. Many gardeners note in their reviews that they make homemade wine.
  6. The grape variety has high frost resistance. It tolerates temperatures of -32-34 degrees painlessly, even without shelter in snowy regions. If there is little rainfall in winter, the plantings have to be covered. Thanks to the frost-resistant root system, even when the soil freezes, the grapes survive the winter.
  7. The vine variety created by R. F. Sharov is an excellent option for a rootstock. The grapes themselves can be grown without grafting from root-capable cuttings.
  8. Fruiting of the variety begins in the second year after planting the grapes.
  9. It is convenient to remove the vine from the support for the winter, as it is flexible and thin.
  10. Even in infertile areas, the variety gives a good harvest.

Over many decades of cultivation by gardeners, no particular disadvantages of the Sharov’s Mystery grape have been identified, except for weak immunity to fungal diseases.

Features of agricultural technology

When planting grapevine varieties, you must choose a lighted area, protected from cold winds. The best part of the garden is on the south side.

Landing Features

The root system of the Sharov's Mystery grape penetrates to great depths, so the soil is not particularly important. The variety grows quietly even on rocky soil.

Important! You need to pay special attention to the height of groundwater: in swampy soil the vine will die.

The Riddle of Sharova grape variety is planted after positive temperatures have reached at least +12 degrees. Planting dates vary depending on the climatic conditions of the region: from mid-April to May.

There should be no swollen buds on the planted seedlings during spring planting. A in autumn You need to have time to plant the vine before frost. If these conditions are not met, the grape seedlings will not take root.

When creating a grape plantation, the choice of direction is important. Most often, plants are planted in rows. Experienced gardeners recommend dividing ridges from north to south. This planting will allow the soil to warm up evenly.

Before planting grapes, a hole is prepared, drainage is placed at the bottom, and the rest of the volume is filled with a nutrient mixture. Pour two buckets of water onto one plant and wait until it is completely absorbed.

They make a mound in the center and “sit” the vine, like on a chair. Sprinkle soil on top and pat it down well to squeeze out air from under the roots. Then you need to water again.

How to care

Traditional care after planting the Sharov’s Riddle grapes:

  • regular watering and loosening of the soil;
  • deletion weed;
  • fertilizing the grapevine;
  • treatment against diseases and pests:
  • timely pruning and bush formation.

Top dressing

To feed grapes of the Zagadka Sharova variety, organic fertilizer is mainly used. Plants respond well to manure or compost.

Dry organic matter is placed under grape bushes in spring or autumn. It turns out a kind of mulching, plus plant nutrition. It is useful to add wood ash under the grape bushes of the Zagadka Sharova variety and water the vine with an infusion of mullein and green grass.

Trimming

In the fall of the first year, all shoots are cut out of the bush, leaving only one, the strongest and most mature. You can determine the readiness of the vine for wintering by color. Look at the photo below: a ripened grape shoot should be brown. If it is green, it means it is not ripe. It just needs to be removed.

Grapes are pruned for 5-6 eyes during autumn work. When the vine leaves the winter, you need to cut off the shoots again, leaving only 2-4 of the strongest ones. Thanks to pruning, you can form a bush and regulate the load on the seedlings.

The yield on adult bushes is also rationed. As a rule, if the summer is short, you should leave no more than 3 clusters on one vine.

A gardener's opinion about Sharov's Riddle grapes:

Features of reproduction

The grape variety from R. F. Sharov can be propagated using:

  • cuttings;
  • vines;
  • shoots.

Using any of these options, it is better to first grow a seedling, preferably planting an annual plant in a permanent place.

Pests

Sharov's grapes, as gardeners write in reviews, are practically not affected by wasps. But ticks and cicadas cause a lot of problems. As a preventive measure, before flowering, planting varieties are sprayed with Karbofos or Bi-58.

Warning! During the ripening period, any pesticide treatments are prohibited.

The grape aphid, phylloxera, causes a lot of trouble. This is a dangerous pest, and if you get rid of it you can lose your vine. But if you add more sand to the soil, this pest will disappear forever. Although in the future you will have to additionally feed the grapes.

Diseases

Despite the huge number of advantages, the Sharov Riddle variety still has disadvantages. The fact is that he has weak immunity to fungal diseases:

  • powdery mildew (mildew);
  • oidium.

To prevent plantings from becoming infected with downy mildew, careful care is required: removal of all weeds, timely removal of cut shoots and fallen leaves. In addition, compost heaps are never arranged near the variety.

Attention! It is almost impossible to get rid of mildew once it appears on plants: if there is a massive infestation, you will have to say goodbye to the bushes.

That is why timely preventive measures are important: treating the soil and plantings with fungicides. Experienced gardeners advise treating grapes in spring and autumn with copper-containing preparations, for example, Bordeaux mixture, Champion, Kuproxat and other means.

Reviews from gardeners

Victor, 57 years old, Khabarovsk
I have been growing the Sharov mystery for a long time. This, in my opinion, is the best grape variety for our region. Ripens early, rich in sugars. The only drawback is that it is susceptible to mildew. But I don’t have any particular problems with this, since I carry out 4 treatments per season. The taste of the berries is unusual, something between strawberries and raspberries. The grandchildren really like it, they sit around the bushes like little sparrows. The harvested grapes are stored almost until the New Year and do not spoil. As for the taste, it becomes even richer.
Valentina, 32 years old, Novosibirsk
I got the impression that Sharov created the most problem-free variety. As they say, stick a cutting in the fall and that’s it, wait for the season and get ready to harvest. After all, fruiting of the grape variety begins the next year. The bunches ripen early, all the berries at the same time. It stays on the bush for a long time and does not deteriorate. Slightly sun-dried berries are especially sweet and tasty. So beginners can practice on the Sharov’s Riddle grapes before tackling more capricious varieties.
