These are substances that destroy weeds in the garden. “Lapis lazuli” is a modern remedy that helps get rid of unwanted plants. Further in the article we will look at the instructions for using Lapis lazuli against weeds, and also see all the advantages and disadvantages of this drug.
Description of the drug
Lapis lazuli is a weed killer that is used on potato and tomato plantings. The substance is able to quickly penetrate into the plant. The effect of the drug is visible almost immediately after use. The components act very quickly, thanks to which the beds are completely cleared of weeds in a short time.
The product can act on 50 types of well-known weeds. This includes all the most common plants that most often clog our areas. After the weeds dry out, the effect of the drug continues for 2 weeks. So there is no need to be afraid that the weeds will soon appear again.Preparing a solution of the substance is quite easy. The product comes with detailed instructions that clearly describe all stages of the work. In addition, this drug is relatively inexpensive.
The advantage of the drug is that you do not need to wait for weeds to germinate. You can cultivate the soil even before the first shoots of weeds appear. It acts very quickly, leading to complete wilting of the weeds.
Operating principle of Lapis lazuli
The secret of such active action of Lapis lazuli lies in a special component. It's called metribuzin. A kilogram of the product contains about 700 grams of this substance. Such a high concentration helps to get rid of a huge number of weeds in a short time.
Before use, the drug must be diluted with water. During watering, the solution penetrates to the roots of the weeds. But you can also use the product externally. To do this, the prepared solution is poured into a container and the plants are sprayed with a sprayer. Lapis lazuli is able to completely clean even a very clogged area. The substance will affect the plants for 2 weeks, and at the end of this period they will die.
The drug remains in the soil and continues to act for 1-2 months. This period depends entirely on weather conditions. In sunny weather, Lapis lazuli will remain active for a long time, and if it rains, then, after a month, it will be better to repeat the procedure.
How to use Lapis lazuli
The first treatment of the site is carried out even before the weeds germinate. Immediately before the procedure, it is necessary to loosen and water the soil. Then you should wait a little for the soil to settle a little. The procedure should only be carried out on a warm, windless day. Thanks to this, splashes of the drug will not spread to other plants.
To treat one square meter of bed you will need about 1–1.5 kg of the product. If weeds are sprayed twice. Then the second time the drug is used no earlier than the planted plants grow to 5 cm. For the second spraying, the concentration of the substance should be weaker; we take approximately 400 grams of the drug per 1 square meter of bed.
Preparation of the product
Before preparing the product, you need to know some important rules:
- The prepared solution must be used immediately for spraying.
- The remaining solution should either be used in another bed or disposed of. It is not able to maintain properties over a long period of time.
Next, proceed directly to preparing the mixture:
- The substance from the package should be mixed thoroughly.
- The required amount of water is poured into the prepared container.
- Lapis lazuli is added there and mixed thoroughly.
In order not to harm cultivated plants, take into account the ratio of water and the drug. There should be no more than 0.5% lapis lazuli in the mixture. The remaining solution is poured out of the container and washed thoroughly.
Important Tips
Do not under any circumstances exceed the amount of the drug in the mixture. On the contrary, in light and loose soils the concentration can be slightly reduced. The dosage indicated on the package is suitable for heavy soils. It is not advisable to use this substance in sandy soil or if there is a lack of humus. Also, do not use the product on soil that is too dry. If there are pests on the site, then first preventive measures are taken to eliminate them, and only then can the soil be treated with Lapis Lazuli.
Compatibility with other drugs
Manufacturers do not prohibit the use of Lapis Lazuli at the same time as other substances. This will not only save the drug, but also improve its effect on weeds. However, the solution must be homogeneous. Therefore, it is necessary to thoroughly mix the drugs in the solution. Such combined herbicides should also be used immediately after preparation.
When not to use the product
It is not recommended to use the product in the following cases:
- If the cultivated plants were planted very early.
- If the seedlings have been damaged by frost.
- In beds with plants that do not respond well to herbicides.
- In areas with few weeds. In such cases, it is better to simply weed out the weeds or mulch the soil.

When can I water after treatment?
Good afternoon
When working with herbicides, including Lapis Lazuli, you must adhere to the following rules:
1. Treat only damp soil. The day before treatment, the area must be well watered. It is not advisable to water the beds on the day of treatment.
2. Under no circumstances should you loosen or dig up the soil before or after spraying the beds with Lapis Lazuli!!!!
3. Treat the area only in sunny weather. It is advisable to choose a day so that there is no precipitation on the day of treatment and the next 2 days.
4. You can water the beds treated with Lapis lazuli no earlier than after 7-10 days. However, if necessary, during a period of drought, you can water the beds, but without fanaticism, no earlier than 4-5 days after treatment, since abundant watering can wash the introduced herbicide into the lower layers of the soil.
It is worth noting that during periods of drought, the effectiveness of the drug is significantly reduced.
We wish you high harvests!
