Description of the Super Grand Amore rose variety and characteristics
The main advantage of the plant is the flower. However, the external parameters of the bush also matter - the rose serves as a decoration for the site. Variety sizes:
- The bush is about 80-100 cm high. The rose grows up to 45 cm wide.
- The stems are straight, neat, and grow very quickly. Well leafy along the entire length.
- The leaves have an original color that changes over time from reddish brown to dark green.
- Buds form at the end of each branch. They have a pointed shape. When the flower blooms, it looks like a beautiful glass. The bud has up to 35 petals, which look like satin material. Their tips are pointed.
- The flowers are large, blood red, burgundy or bright crimson. Diameter 10-12 cm. The blooming process is very slow. Thanks to this quality, the flowering period is extended. It begins at the beginning of summer and ends before the first frost. The Super Grand Amore variety is distinguished by larger flowers, the diameter of which is 20 cm. The bud shows its maximum size from the second year after planting.
The rose has decent characteristics:
- excellent decorative effect;
- re-blooming;
- high frost resistance;
- good immunity.
The flowers are resistant to gusts of wind and showers; the rose does not stop budding when it gets cold.
Advantages and disadvantages
The Grand Amore variety is in great demand. Flower growers love it for its valuable advantages; they also take into account some of its disadvantages.
The advantages of roses are:
- Resistance to weather changes.
- Unpretentiousness to growing conditions.
- Low maintenance requirements.
- Resistance against diseases and pests.
- Excellent external parameters and decorative effect.
- The beauty of the flower and the pleasant aroma.
Roses have few disadvantages, but they are worth knowing about:
- Need for winter shelter.
- Careful care of the root system after planting.
- Requirement for fertilizing.
- Mandatory removal of faded buds.
These are not so important parameters for the gardener. The main thing is that the variety has high resistance to diseases, pests and weather conditions.
Reproduction methods
The Grand Amore variety is propagated by cuttings from half-woody shoots. The material should be cut early in the morning, when it is not hot. It is not recommended to take young or nitrogen-treated shoots. The process of preparing rose cuttings:
- Cut the shoot with oblique cuts at an angle of 45°. This applies to the top and bottom ends.
- Dry the cuttings.
- Prepare a shaded area for planting.
- Deepen the stems 2-3 cm and water.
- Cover the shoots with a jar and moisten regularly.
When the Grand Amore cuttings take root, do not replant them, but leave them to overwinter in the cuttings. Transplant the rose to a permanent place in the spring.
Growing and care
To get a luxurious bush, the gardener will have to fulfill a number of conditions. The famous variety grows quickly. But violation of planting or care technology will lead to a decrease in its decorative value. When growing Grand Amore roses you need:
- Stick to planting deadlines.The best time for the southern regions is from early September to mid-October. For areas with early onset of cold weather, spring planting of the variety is recommended before the buds begin to open. This time falls in April or May.
- Provide a site that meets all variety requirements. The main attention should be paid to lighting. There should be enough sun, but at noon the rose needs partial shade. She also does not like drafts and gusts of cold wind. It is good if the place is protected by buildings or tall trees and shrubs. It is important that they are kept at least 3 m away.
- Prepare the soil. Garden soil seasoned with a nutrient mixture of manure, peat and sand (3:1:2) is suitable for the culture. The soil should be slightly acidic.
- Prepare planting material. If the root system of a variety seedling is open, you need to soak the roots in water for several hours. Then cut off some of the shoots, leaving 3-4 of the most powerful ones. They will be removed by 10-15 cm, leaving 2-4 buds. Cut out damaged, dry, broken roots. Do not touch small branches.
Algorithm for planting seedlings of the Grand Amore variety:
- dig planting holes 50x50 cm in the prepared area;
- be sure to form a drainage layer;
- pour a nutritious mixture of wood ash and mineral fertilizer for roses;
- Sprinkle the fertilizer on top with a small layer of soil;
- put the rose down, straighten the roots;
- carefully fill the hole with earth, trying to fill all the voids between the roots;
- compact the soil;
- water the bush;
- lay down mulch.
If you decide to plant several rose bushes, then make row spacing at least 60-80 cm, leaving 30-50 cm between plants.

Caring for the variety consists of several main stages:
- Watering. Frequency depends on weather conditions. In comfortable weather, it is enough to water the bushes once a week. During periods of drought, additional irrigation will be required. One plant needs at least 5 liters of settled warm water. It is important to protect leaves and flowers from moisture. As soon as the rose blooms, stop watering.
- Feeding. The Grand Amore variety requires nutrition in the spring before the buds open and in mid-summer. It is recommended to use complex mineral compositions for roses or folk recipes. The rose responds well to fertilizing with chicken manure, which needs to be left for 6-7 days in a ratio of 1:20 with water. Before watering, dilute again with water 1:3. Cow dung is infused in a ratio of 1:10 and diluted 1:2. Organic is good for young bushes. Mature plants are better suited to mineral complexes.
- Weeding. To prevent the rose from having to compete with weeds for moisture, sun and nutrients, they must be removed regularly. Weeds can also provide shelter for pests.
- Trimming. The Grand Amore variety should be maintained in good condition. To do this, the procedure will need to be repeated at least three times. The first (spring) serves as a sanitary one and is intended for cutting dry, diseased and damaged stems. The second (summer) is aimed at removing faded buds. The third (autumn) prepares the bush for winter. Now long, thin, damaged, diseased and weak shoots are removed.
- Preparing for winter. After autumn pruning, a mound of sand or soil should be poured onto the root system area. In cold areas, cover with additional spruce branches.
Proper planting and compliance with all stages of care guarantee that the Grand Amore rose will become the queen of any site.
Pests and diseases
Roses can be threatened by pests. Treatments are necessary. Beetles (bronze beetles), caterpillars and aphids are considered dangerous for Grand Amore. Acrofit and Confidor maxi work well against them.
Among the diseases you should be wary of are powdery mildew, gray rot, and black spot. This is especially true in rainy summers. You can use Bordeaux mixture or Topaz against powdery mildew. A solution of sulfur (1%) or Topaz helps fight black spot. Soot deposits are removed with a soap-alcohol mixture.
Application in landscape design
In projects, large red roses are best used as a central figure. They attract attention, which is why Grand Amore's mono plantings are most impressive. The variety goes well with wildflowers, herbaceous perennials, and conifers.
You should not place a rose near raspberries, pears or cherries. Also bad neighbors for Grand Amore are tall trees that block access to the sun.
Conclusion
Rose Grand Amore has all the necessary characteristics. Adhering to the recommendations of the originator and fulfilling the requirements of agricultural technology, even a novice rose grower can grow a luxurious bush.
