Tomato Tyler F1

An interesting situation occurs with tomato hybrids - many experienced gardeners, especially those who grow tomatoes for themselves and their families, are in no hurry to grow them. And the point is not so much that the seeds have to be bought anew every time. But rather, the fact is that, no matter how they are praised in advertising descriptions, when fresh, the taste of few of the tomato hybrids can compete with the taste of varietal tomatoes, especially large-fruited ones. And if tomatoes are stored for a long time and are transportable, then they certainly have more to do with the “rubber and plastic world” than with the garden environment. And for those who sell tomatoes on the market and strive to have regular customers, the taste of the tomatoes they sell cannot but matter, which is why gardeners avoid hybrids, even despite their good yields and disease resistance.

Tomato Tyler f1 refutes many existing ideas about the properties of hybrid tomatoes and is a productive and incredibly tasty hybrid. In addition, it has many more interesting properties and characteristics. This article is devoted to its description and properties.

History of appearance in Russia

Perhaps, especially for all summer residents who strive not only to grow tomatoes for themselves, but also to sell their surplus harvests, seeds of hybrid tomatoes from the Japanese company Kitano appeared on the seed market about five years ago.

Comment! Tomatoes grown from these seeds literally upended all the traditional ideas of gardeners, both amateurs and professionals, about the taste of tomato hybrids.

They were truly sweet, juicy with a real tomato spirit, but also stored well and easily traveled many hundreds of kilometers. True, they originally appeared on the territory of Ukraine, and Russian gardeners for the most part could only envy and salivate in the hope of getting such interesting seeds.

Attention! Several years ago, the Kitano company opened its official representative office in Russia, and finally gardeners and farmers had the opportunity to test the long-awaited tomato hybrids on their plots.

Of course, as in any matter, there were disappointments and successes, but in general the description of the properties of these hybrids was confirmed. And now Russian gardeners have the opportunity to choose not only tomato varieties based on their taste properties, but also to try various hybrids from Kitano. Initially, these hybrids received only a numerical designation, and only after some time the most popular of them acquired their own name. This happened with the Tyler tomato, which, according to consumer reviews in Ukraine, in recent years has ranked first in popularity among indeterminate tomatoes.

Description of the hybrid

The Tyler tomato belongs to the indeterminate group of tomatoes, which means that tomato bushes are characterized by unlimited growth and development, including height. Kitano company specialists strongly recommend using their indeterminate hybrids only for growing in protected soil. In open ground, their behavior and productivity can be unpredictable.

Tomato bushes are quite powerful with a good and strong root system. The leaves are rich green and abundantly cover all the stems.

Important! A special feature of the Tyler hybrid is that the internodes on the bushes are short and this allows you to get the maximum number of clusters with fruits even with a small greenhouse height.

By the way, tomatoes in this hybrid form on the clusters, and with abundant and balanced nutrition, up to 9-10 fruits can form on the cluster.

Interestingly, in good conditions, the Tyler tomato is capable of laying even double clusters of 12-14 tomatoes each.

In terms of ripening time, the hybrid belongs to the mid-early tomatoes. On average, it takes 95-100 days from germination until the tomatoes in the first bunch ripen. In greenhouses, if suitable conditions are created, it can begin to bear fruit at the earliest possible date.

Attention! If you are interested in getting the earliest possible harvest, then it makes sense to limit the plant's height growth after 5-6 brushes.

In this case, all the energy will go not to further growth, but to the accelerated formation of fruits.

A feature of the Tyler tomato is its requirement for enhanced nutrition. Therefore, the yield of tomatoes is largely determined by growing conditions, as well as the quantity and quality of fertilizing. On average, you can get 8-12 kg of tomatoes from one square meter of planting.

Hybrid Tyler is characterized by good resistance to many diseases - fusarium, verticellosis, tomato mosaic virus, bacterial cancer.

It is distinguished by excellent fruit set even under stressful conditions (low temperature, insufficient light or, conversely, heat). And if the ovaries have already formed, then even despite the heat, the tomato bunches will continue to ripen. Considering these properties, as well as its early ripening, the Tyler tomato can be grown twice a season - in late spring, early summer and late summer, in autumn. This is especially attractive for gardeners growing tomatoes for sale, since in the off-season it is possible to get a good price for tomatoes.

Characteristics of tomatoes

No matter what disappointments await you in the process of growing Tyler tomatoes, their taste characteristics will definitely not leave you indifferent. What are these tomatoes characterized by?

  • The shape of Tyler tomatoes is standard, round, with a slight flatness at the base.
  • The color of the fruit is red, without spots or veins, and has a shiny, rather dense skin.
  • The pulp is fleshy, sugary at the break, juicy.
  • Tyler tomatoes are medium in size; on the first clusters there are fruits weighing up to 180-190 grams, later the weight of the fruits is 150-160 grams. The tomatoes are equal in size and ripen together.
  • The fruits have a very rich, rich taste with a harmonious content of sugar and acid. Tomato aroma is also present.
  • At the same time, tomatoes are resistant to cracking and are stored well - up to several months in cool conditions. They are distinguished by excellent transportability.
  • Tyler tomatoes are perfect for both fresh consumption and freezing, and for preparing a variety of sauces, ketchups, lecho and other preparations. Their taste is very good when pickled, and they look very impressive, since they completely retain their shape in jars.

Reviews from gardeners

Since the Tyler f1 tomato appeared in Russia not so long ago, there are not many reviews on it yet. But those who tried these tomatoes were truly impressed by their characteristics.

I have heard about these tomatoes for a long time, my friends from Ukraine boasted that they grow such miracle tomatoes - they are tasty, fruitful, and long-lasting. Last year, when I built a greenhouse on my property, I also decided to try the Tyler tomato. Its seeds can already be bought in Russia, only the packages are often larger, for professionals. But I managed to buy a small one, only 5 seeds. Germination rate was 100%. There is no need to soak them in anything - they are already processed by the manufacturer. The tomato seedlings were strong, stocky, roots were coming out of all the holes. Already in May, I planted all the bushes with other varieties in the greenhouse, sometimes heating it if there was a threat of frost. The seedlings were already blooming, and there were surprisingly many ovaries. In the greenhouse I have a special mixture with humus instead of soil and the tomatoes began to grow by leaps and bounds. I cut off the tops of two bushes after the fifth cluster so that the fruits ripen faster. In June I already received a harvest from these bushes. The tomatoes are really very tasty, meaty, even sugar comes out when cut. Now I think next year I will try to get a double harvest from them. Those that will ripen in the fall may well last until the New Year, probably.

With great difficulty, last year I obtained 5 pieces of Tyler tomato seeds; friends brought them from Ukraine. I've heard a lot of interesting things about this hybrid. I planted the seedlings in open ground, although this tomato is recommended for greenhouses. Everything was excellent, and from 5 to 8 tomatoes were formed in the bunches. The taste completely amazed me; I never expected such a rich tomato taste and aroma from them. Of course, I fed the bushes regularly, watered them, tied them up, but otherwise it didn’t create any special problems for me. To celebrate, this year I agreed in advance with several friends to buy a large pack of seeds (100 pieces) for everyone. They are already sold in Russia, although they are quite expensive. I sowed seedlings, as usual, and planted tomatoes in the beds at the end of May. I took care of it just like last year, but for some reason this year the bushes were kind of low, and at most they grew up to 1 meter in height. And the tomatoes are also small in size, although they set well and their taste is excellent. Now I don’t know what to think. Is it really so dependent on weather conditions, and are the manufacturers right that they recommend growing it in a greenhouse?

As a long-time fan of tomatoes, I have already heard a lot on various forums about Kitano’s tomatoes. What I value most about tomatoes is their taste, so I really wanted to try planting them myself. This dream was realized only last year, when through friends I got a professional package of Tyler tomatoes containing 100 seeds. I sowed 40 of them as seedlings and then planted them in a greenhouse. What can I say? The bushes grew, of course, large, but still did not hit the ceiling. They constantly required attention - either fertilizing or the leaves became covered with spots. But, when the tomatoes ripened, I was more than rewarded. Rarely does any variety have such good taste - except perhaps our large-fruited ones, but they do not last long and flow almost immediately. And these tomatoes lay there for two weeks and looked like they were freshly picked. I will definitely take a closer look at these hybrids.

Conclusion

Many new products in the tomato kingdom always arouse keen interest among gardeners. It seems that Kitano's hybrids, including Tyler, have the right to a long life due to their unique characteristics.

I BOUGHT INTO DISEASE RESISTANCE. AS ABOUT THE EARLY, IT’S NOT SEEN AND ALSO WITH A GREEN HAT. IN GENERAL, THERE IS NO LIMIT TO MY DISAPPOINTMENT AND IDNATION. AND THE SEEDS ARE EXPENSIVE 65 EUROS. BUT AS THEY SAY=CHICKENS COUNT IN THE AUTUMN, SO I WILL WAIT
