- If we talk about taste, then, as consumers note, it is simply tomato, sweet and sour.
Characteristics
The tomato variety Intuition, according to reviews, is very popular among gardeners. And this is not surprising, because the hybrid has a lot of advantages.
Advantages of the variety
- Seed germination is almost 100%.
- Intuition F1 tomatoes are grown in open and protected ground.
- Excellent taste properties.
- The fruits ripen smoothly, they do not crack, hang on the bush for a long time, and do not fall off when touched.
- The hybrid is characterized by high and stable yield. According to reviews from gardeners (this can be seen in the photo), on average, up to 22 kg of tasty fruits with shiny skin are harvested per square meter. In greenhouses, the Intuition tomato yield is slightly larger.
- Tomatoes Intuition F1, according to reviews, have high shelf life without loss of taste and presentation. This allows the fruits to be sold long after harvest. To do this, you need to create certain storage conditions: the room should be warm, dry and dark. Sudden temperature changes lead to reduced shelf life and loss of products.
- Tomatoes Intuition for universal use. They can be eaten fresh or the whole fruit can be preserved. The thick skin does not burst under the influence of boiling marinade. Canned tomatoes can be cut into slices that do not fall apart. In addition, the Intuition hybrid is an excellent raw material for preparing salads, lecho, adjika, and freezing tomatoes for the winter. It is interesting that during storage, fresh fruits remain firm and do not soften. Perhaps this is one of the few varieties whose fruits can be dried.
- Intuition tomatoes attract not only private owners, but also farmers, since the transportability of the dense fruit is excellent. When transported over any distance, tomato fruits do not lose their shape or presentation.
- Breeders took care of the high immunity of the tomato Intuition F1. Plants practically do not suffer from fusarium, cladosporiosis, and tobacco mosaic.
Disadvantages of the variety
If we talk about the disadvantages of the Intuition variety, there are practically none. The only thing that gardeners pay attention to and write in reviews is the inability to obtain their own seeds. The fact is that hybrids do not produce fruits in the second generation that correspond to the description and characteristics.
Healthy seedlings are the key to harvest
Every tomato gardener knows that the harvest depends on the seedlings grown. The healthier the planting material, the more beautiful and tasty fruits it will produce.
Landing dates
Tomato seeds Intuition F1 need to be sown 60-70 days before planting the seedlings in a permanent place. It is not difficult to calculate the period, but it will depend on the growing region. The 2018 sowing calendar advises preparing seedlings of indeterminate (tall) tomato varieties at the end of February.
Soil preparation
To plant tomatoes, you can use wooden boxes or plastic containers. Containers must be disinfected. They are doused with boiling water in which potassium permanganate or boric acid is dissolved.
The soil for sowing is prepared in advance. You can buy the mixture in the store. Ready-made formulations contain all the necessary microelements for the normal growth of tomato seedlings, including the Intuition hybrid. If you use your own soil compositions, then you need to mix turf soil, humus (compost) or peat in equal quantities. To increase the nutritional value of the soil, wood ash and superphosphate are added to it.
Prepare and sow seeds
Judging by the description, characteristics of the variety and reviews from gardeners, the tomato variety Intuition is resistant to many diseases of nightshade crops. But prevention should not be neglected. If you are not sure about the quality of the seeds, then before sowing they need to be treated in salt water or potassium permanganate. After soaking, rinse in clean water and dry until fluffy. Experienced gardeners in their reviews recommend using Fitosporin to treat tomato seeds.
Plant the seeds of Intuition into prepared grooves, the distance between which is at least three centimeters. The distance between the seeds is 1-1.5 cm. The planting depth is slightly less than a centimeter.
Seedling care and picking
The boxes are kept in a warm, lit place until germination. When the first shoots appear, the temperature is slightly reduced so that the plants do not stretch out. If the lighting is insufficient, install a lamp. Tomato seedlings need to be watered as the top layer of soil dries.
When 2 or 3 leaves appear, the Tomato Intuition is dived into separate containers with a volume of at least 500 ml. They will feel uncomfortable in a smaller container. The composition of the soil is the same as when sowing seeds. Seedlings, if the soil is fertile, do not need to be fed. Care consists of timely watering and daily turning of the cups.
Care in the ground
By the time the tomato seedlings are planted, Intuition in protected soil should be 20-25 cm high, with a thick stem.
- The soil in the greenhouse is prepared in advance.Humus, peat, wood ash are added to it (it is best to do this in the fall), and hot water with potassium permanganate dissolved in it is poured over it. The holes are made at a distance of at least 60 cm. If you add soil, you need to take it from the beds where cabbage, peppers or eggplants were grown. It is especially dangerous to use land where tomatoes previously grew.
- Tomato seedlings are planted either on a cloudy day or in the late afternoon. When planting, you should remember that the Intuition hybrid is a special variety; it is never buried. Otherwise, the plant will produce new roots and begin to grow green mass.
Further care consists of watering, loosening, mulching and fertilizing. But there are rules that apply specifically to the Intuition tomato variety, which you should not forget about if you want to get a rich harvest:
- After a week, when the plants have taken root, they are tied to a strong support, since a tall tomato will have a hard time without it. As it grows, the stem continues to be fixed.
- An Intuition tomato bush of 1-2 stems is formed. All shoots must be removed, as shown in the photo.
- Leaves and shoots are removed before the first inflorescence. Subsequently, the leaves are removed under the knotted tassels.
As a fertilizer, it is better to use infusions of mullein and fresh grass, as well as wood ash. You can sprinkle it on the soil, as well as on the leaves of the plant. Or prepare a hood.
