Characteristics of the Sweet Fountain tomato
The Sweet Fountain tomato is a vegetable crop of indeterminate growth. This tomato is intended for cultivation in greenhouse conditions and is characterized by high fruiting rates.
Tomato bushes Sweet Fountain are characterized by vigorous vegetation and grow up to 2 meters in height. Therefore, during the growth process, a vegetable crop requires human intervention in the correct formation of the bush, followed by staking.
The hybrid tomato variety Sweet Fountain F1 is not suitable for growing on open land plantations. The variety is not resistant to sudden drops in air temperature.
Fruiting period
Sweet fountain is an early ripening tomato. Already 95-100 days after the sprouts emerge from the soil, the first fruits of the vegetable crop appear. Harvesting usually begins in early July.
Tomato yield Sweet fountain

Tomatoes ripen gradually; gardeners and farmers begin harvesting at the end of July and finish around mid-October.
If you provide proper care for Sweet Fountain tomatoes (sufficient lighting, temperature conditions, soil fertilization and disease prevention), the yield per 1 sq. m of bed reaches 7 kg.
Resistance to diseases and pests
The Sweet Fountain tomato crop is characterized by increased resistance to Fusarium and Verticillium wilt, and is also relatively resistant to many other plant diseases.
In what regions is it grown?

Advantages and disadvantages
The indeterminate tomato Sweet Fountain is designed for growing exclusively in closed protected ground, i.e. in greenhouses. But this does not prevent you from harvesting a good harvest of tasty and healthy tomatoes.
Pros:
- excellent taste;
- presentation, transportability, long-term storage;
- immunity to many plant diseases;
- wide range of applications;
- ease of care.
Minuses:
- tall tomato bushes with a large number of fruits require mandatory garter;
- the need for shaping, pinching;
- Tomato seeds are not suitable for planting, because it is not a variety, but a hybrid.
Landing scheme and rules
Purchased seeds of the hybrid tomato variety Sweet Fountain do not require additional processing. In this case, it is recommended to sterilize the soil used for seeding material.
Sow tomato hybrid seeds at the end of March or early April. Complex fertilizers are applied to the soil. The seedling container is covered with polypropylene film and kept in a well-lit room, where an optimal temperature of 25ºC is maintained.
Young sprouts of tomato crops are transplanted into a greenhouse for further growth two months after planting the seed. But two weeks before this, they are gradually hardened, for example, taken out every day to an open balcony. First, by 10-15 minutes, every day the time of adaptation to the natural climate is increased by 5-10 minutes.
Recommended seedling planting scheme for proper growth and development of Sweet Fountain tomato bushes:
- distance between rows of tomatoes – 60-70 cm;
- the distance between seedlings of the same row is 40-60 cm;
- at 1 m2 beds place no more than three seedlings.
The soil is fertilized and dug up. In the spring, before planting, the soil is dug up again or thoroughly loosened.
Care instructions
Sweet fountain tomatoes require moderate and timely watering. The soil must be fed with organic matter and minerals once every two weeks. The main thing is not to overfeed the tomato crop, especially at the fruiting stage, with nitrogen-containing fertilizers.
In order for the plant to fully and properly develop, it needs to be provided with good natural light, optimal soil and environmental moisture. To do this, young tomato seedlings are watered 1-2 times a week for the first 20 days, and 3-4 times in the subsequent period.
Pest and disease control
When greenhouse soil is excessively moistened and the ambient temperature is disrupted, the risks of tomato bushes being damaged by plant diseases – late blight, cladosporiosis and rot – increase.
To preserve all the tomato bushes and reap a good harvest, it is imperative to prevent plants from diseases and pests in advance:
- biological compounds – against late blight;
- fungicidal preparations - against cladosporiosis;
- “Fitoverm”, “Karbofos”, “Nematofagin” - from nematodes;
- “Thunder”, “Ulitsid”, mustard, garlic or pepper tincture - from gastropods;
- “Iskra”, “Tanrek”, “Biotlin” - from whitefly;
- “Fufanon”, “Alatar”, “Fitoverm”, ammonia or soap solution - against aphids.
