The first time fertilizing is applied when fruit ovaries form. To do this, dilute manure or chicken droppings in a bucket of water and carefully pour liquid fertilizer on all the tomato bushes right to the roots.
The next time the tomatoes are fed is when fruiting begins. This time, the soil under the bushes is watered with a herbal tincture enriched with nitrogen.
