Ramiro pepper: cultivation and care

Ramiro pepper was bred in Italy, but it is grown not only in Europe, but also in Latin American countries. There are several varieties of the variety with red, yellow and green fruits. Mostly seeds are sold from Dutch companies.

Ramiro pepper fruits are sold by supermarkets and grocery stores. Buyers first have a question whether Ramiro pepper is sweet or not. The elongated shape of the fruit resembles a chili pepper. However, the variety has an excellent taste and is suitable for growing in Russian conditions.

Description of the variety

Characteristics of the Ramiro variety:

  • bush height up to 90 cm;
  • the harvest is harvested 130 days after seed germination;
  • 10-12 fruits are formed on the bush;
  • high productivity;
  • average period of maturation.

Ramiro fruits have a number of features:

  • length 25 cm;
  • wall thickness 5 mm;
  • elongated shape;
  • weight from 90 to 150 g;
  • red, green or yellow;
  • sweet taste.

Ramiro red pepper is planted in open areas, in greenhouses and greenhouses. In terms of taste, the variety is considered sweeter than regular bell pepper.

The Ramiro variety is rich in vitamin C, which remains in the fruit for 3 months after harvest.The product contains vitamins B, H, PP, beta-carotene, microelements, fiber. Taking pepper normalizes intestinal function and removes toxins.

Obtaining seedlings

It is advisable to grow Ramiro pepper using the seedling method. Planting seeds directly into the ground is possible only in the southern regions, where the soil and ground quickly warm up in the spring. In areas with a cool climate, the crop is planted at home. After germination, they are transferred to open areas or under film.

Preparing for landing

The Ramiro variety is planted in prepared soil. It is obtained by combining humus, sand and garden soil in a 2:1:1 ratio. As a fertilizer, add a tablespoon of wood ash containing a complex of minerals.

Before planting, the soil is steamed in a microwave or oven. It is allowed to use peat cups or purchased soil intended for planting vegetables.

Seeds of the Ramiro variety are purchased at gardening stores. According to gardeners, seeds from peppers purchased in grocery stores germinate well.

Advice! Before planting, the seeds are placed in a damp cloth and kept for 2-3 days.

The use of Epin solution or another growth stimulant will help improve the germination of Ramiro seeds. The seed material is dipped into the solution for 4-5 hours, after which it is washed in clean water and planted in the ground.

The Ramiro variety is planted in boxes or separate containers filled with prepared soil. The seedlings are deepened by 2 cm and watered abundantly. The containers need to be covered with glass or film, and then put away in a dark place.

Germination of seeds of the Ramiro variety occurs at temperatures above 20 degrees.When shoots emerge, the containers are moved to a lighted place. This process usually takes several days.

Conditions for seedlings

Ramiro pepper seedlings are provided with certain conditions:

  • daytime temperature - up to 26 degrees;
  • night temperature – from 10 to 15 degrees;
  • constant ventilation;
  • moderate soil moisture;
  • backlight for 12 hours.

Ramiro peppers are watered with warm, settled water. Excess moisture leads to the spread of fungal diseases, which are destructive to seedlings. Cold water is not used because its effect is stressful for plants.

In the room where the Ramiro red pepper is located, high air humidity is created. The plantings are periodically sprayed with warm water.

Important! To stimulate the formation of the root system, the plants are watered with a solution of potassium humate (5 ml per 2 liters of water).

If the pepper is grown in a common container, then when the seedlings have 2 leaves, they are picked into separate containers. Plants take a long time to recover after transplantation, so it is recommended to plant the seeds immediately in separate cups.

2 weeks before planting, the Ramiro variety is transferred to the balcony. This is how plants gradually adapt to natural conditions. First, the seedlings are kept in the fresh air for a couple of hours, then this period is increased.

Planting peppers

The Ramiro variety is planted in open areas, in greenhouses made of film or glass. The soil for planting begins to be prepared in the fall. It needs to be dug up and composted.

The culture prefers light soils with low acidity levels. For planting, select places where zucchini, cucumbers, peppers, carrots, pumpkins, and onions grew a year earlier.Replanting after peppers, as well as after tomatoes, eggplants and potatoes, is not carried out.

Advice! The addition of superphosphate and potassium salt in an amount of 50 g per 1 square meter will help improve the quality of the soil. m.

In spring, per 1 sq. m of soil add 30 g of ammonium nitrate. Nitrogen stimulates the development of green mass, which is necessary at the beginning of the growing season. After plant flowering, nitrogen fertilizing is not used.

The procedure for planting the Ramiro variety:

  1. Holes are made in the soil 15 cm deep. Plants are placed in increments of 0.4 m. Gaps of 0.5 m are made between rows. Peppers should be planted in a checkerboard pattern to simplify their further care and prevent crowding of plantings.
  2. The seedlings, together with a lump of earth, are lowered into the holes.
  3. The roots are covered with soil, which is slightly compacted.
  4. Peppers are watered generously with warm water.
  5. To maintain soil moisture, mulch with peat or compost.

After transplanting, the peppers are not watered or fed for 7-10 days. Plants take time to take root.

Care plan

The Ramiro variety is cared for by watering and fertilizing. The bush is formed to obtain a good harvest.

Watering peppers

Ramiro sweet peppers are watered in the morning or evening hours, when there is no direct exposure to the sun. You need to use warm water that has had time to settle in barrels.

The intensity of irrigation directly depends on the stage of crop development:

  • before the formation of buds - every week;
  • during the formation of the ovary - twice a week;
  • during fruit ripening - weekly.

The moisture standard for peppers is 6 liters per 1 sq. m landings. After watering, the soil is carefully loosened so as not to damage the roots of the plants. This way the peppers absorb moisture and minerals better.

Fertilizer application

The Ramiro variety gives a good harvest with regular feeding. Fertilizers are applied under the roots as solutions.

After planting the peppers, the first fertilizing is carried out only after 2 weeks. To do this, take cow manure diluted with water in a ratio of 1:15. When using bird droppings, you need to dilute it in a ratio of 1:10.

Important! During the flowering period, Ramiro peppers are sprayed with a solution of boric acid (2 g per 1 liter of water). Boric acid strengthens the ovaries.

To attract pollinators, add 0.1 kg of sugar to the spray solution. Treatment is carried out in the morning or evening, when there is no sun.

The next feeding is carried out after flowering. For the Ramiro variety, prepare a solution containing 20 g of superphosphate and potassium salt per 10 liters of water. These microelements strengthen the root system of peppers and improve the taste of the fruit.

Phosphorus and potassium are reapplied after the first harvest. Fertilizers will extend the fruiting period of vegetables.

Bush formation

Proper formation of Ramiro peppers ensures their high yield. As a result, thickening is eliminated, which contributes to the development of diseases and pests.

At the seedling stage, when the plant reaches a height of 20 cm, it forms branches. The first inflorescence appears at the point where the branches form. It is eliminated to ensure further development of the pepper.

The second stage of bush formation is carried out when the Ramiro variety has its 10th leaf. Excess branches are cut off and 2-3 shoots are left. Weak branches also need to be eliminated.

Advice! No more than 20-25 ovaries are left on the peppers.

Standardizing the ovaries will allow you to get large fruits. Excess ovaries are cut off by hand.

Protection from diseases and pests

If agricultural practices are followed, the Ramiro variety is not susceptible to diseases. If high humidity occurs and the temperature remains low, this creates conditions for the spread of fungal diseases.

To combat the disease, drugs Barrier or Barrier are used. These are fungicides that can be used for preventive purposes. The preparations contain nutrients that strengthen the immune system of peppers.

In case of serious damage, Ramiro peppers are treated with copper-based products (Oxychom, copper oxychloride, Bordeaux mixture). They are applied at least 3 weeks before harvesting.

Peppers attract aphids, wireworms, spider mites, and slugs. Insecticides are used against pests. Among the traditional methods, infusions of garlic, onion peel, and wood ash are considered effective.

Reviews from gardeners

Olga, 56 years old, Samara
Ramiro planted peppers in a greenhouse. At first I even doubted whether Ramiro pepper was hot or not. However, I liked the variety for its sweet taste. Some of the fruits were picked while still green, the rest were ripening on the bushes. The weight of the fruit is small.
Vasily, 39 years old, Samara
Ramiro tried peppers for the first time from friends. I liked the variety because of its unusual shape. The next year I decided to plant it in the country. My garden beds have loamy soil enriched with compost. Ramiro is a tall bush; it must be tied up. During the season, I watered the peppers, loosened the soil and weeded the beds. I did not notice any pests on the variety. The plantings were fed with complex fertilizers and humates. The harvest was not very large - up to 2 kg per bush. However, I was pleased with the taste and appearance of the fruit.
Anna, 47 years old, Moscow
Ramiro bought sweet peppers at the store to prepare vegetable salads for the winter.Last year I decided to plant the variety at the dacha. The seedlings sprouted well and were transplanted into the greenhouse. The fruits are elongated and resemble chili peppers. The pulp is thin, the seeds are very small. I consider the variety to be a good alternative to the usual sweet varieties.

Conclusion

Ramiro peppers are grown in open areas or placed under film cover. The variety is known for its sweet taste and beneficial properties. The fruits have a universal purpose and are suitable for home canning and daily diet.

Plantings are regularly watered and fed. A good harvest is ensured by forming a bush and trimming excess shoots.
