Eggplant Caviar F1

Caviar F1 is a mid-season hybrid, suitable for growing both in greenhouses and in open ground. The hybrid has a high yield - almost 7 kg per 1 sq. m.

Description

Eggplant Caviar F1 with dark purple pear-shaped fruits is suitable for making caviar and home canning. The pulp is white, almost without seeds and bitterness.

With proper care, a spreading plant with bright green leaves grows. Before planting eggplants, it is necessary to install a support for tying, since the fruits are quite weighty (up to 350 g) and the bush can fall under their weight.

Growing and care

In May, this hybrid can already be sown in a greenhouse. When grown in open ground, eggplant seedlings are planted in early March, and at the end of May the sprouts can already be brought into open ground. Sowing depth is no more than 2 cm. It is recommended to check seeds of any variety or hybrid of eggplant for germination and germinate before planting. This video contains a lot of useful information about planting eggplants.

The hybrid seedlings are periodically watered with mullein solution. When watering, you need to be careful not to erode the soil around the sprouts.

Important! The seeds of the hybrid Caviar F1 were obtained through selection. This means that those seeds that can be collected from ripened fruits are not suitable for subsequent plantings.

If you plan to grow this variety next year, you should be prepared for the fact that you will need to purchase seeds in the store.

Preparation of greenhouse soil

It is recommended to disinfect the greenhouse soil before planting eggplants of this variety. The prepared and fertilized soil is heated in an oven or treated with steam or boiling water. Spraying and watering eggplant soil with a solution of formaldehyde or bleach is effective in preventing diseases such as late blight and blackleg. The optimal planting density is no more than 4-5 plants per 1 square meter. m.

This hybrid loves moist soil, saturated with mineral and organic fertilizers. The greenhouse variety of eggplant does not require constant lighting, and for full fruiting it needs a short daylight hours. It can be created artificially by shading the bed.

Top dressing

Fertilizing the soil with mineral and organic fertilizers should be done no later than 15-20 days before the expected harvest. Carrying out such procedures during the fruiting period negatively affects the taste. This is especially true when spraying eggplants with chemicals to prevent or control diseases and insect pests.

I give preference to greenhouse varieties or hybrids of eggplants, since in our climate, growing “little blue” ones in open ground is a waste of time. I liked the hybrid Caviar F1 in appearance and taste. Heavy, fleshy fruits are well suited for caviar. The skin is delicate, we did not peel it. I did not grow seedlings in the greenhouse. I immediately prepared the bed, made shallow holes at a distance of 50-60 cm and planted a seed in each.Since I always germinate seeds before sowing, it was immediately clear which ones would be useful. I only filled the holes halfway with earth. I covered the bed with film, after 20 days, I poured soil into the holes so that it covered the stem of the eggplant sprout to the cotyledon leaves. To prevent pests from attacking, I periodically sprayed the plants and walls of the greenhouse with garlic broth.

I liked the look and taste of caviar F1, so I decided to try growing this variety last year. It was later that I found out that this is not a variety at all, but a hybrid. I have been planting eggplants for several years now, I know how the land is prepared and what beds need to be made. I listened to reviews from neighbors who have been successfully growing Caviar F1 for several years now. The seeds that I bought in the store pleased me with their friendly shoots. The eggplants grew well, but it was a surprise to me that the plant was so large and the fruits were so heavy. Out of ignorance, we didn’t take care of the supports in advance, so as the fruit began to grow, we had to quickly build a trellis and tie the bushes to it. Fruiting is rather sparse, but all this is more than compensated by the size of the fruit. More than 20 kg of eggplants were collected from one bed (about 14 bushes). This was enough for caviar and salads.

Every year I plant several varieties of eggplants in the greenhouse. I liked the caviar F1 for its meatiness. The seeds of the hybrid are strong and germinate well. I make the soil for eggplants and other plants myself - I specially dug two holes in the backyard, and there I throw leaves, sawdust, fertilizer from the store, cow and chicken manure. Then I water it and cover it with film. I leave it for a year, then shovel it and mix it with soil. And on this soil I grow healthy, strong eggplants. The Caviar F1 variety is no different in cultivation from other eggplant varieties. Therefore, in one bed I can grow 5-6 species of this plant.
