Spruce row mushroom: description and photo

Name:Spruce row
Latin name:Tricholoma aestuans
Type: Inedible

Spruce row is an inedible mushroom. It has an unpleasant taste and aroma, so many mushroom pickers consider it poisonous. Mass appearance is recorded at the end of August and continues until the last days of October.

Where do spruce rows grow?

The name spruce arose due to the fact that the rower chooses coniferous and pine forests for its habitat. Mushrooms are found in small groups, but more often they form huge colonies. Damp coniferous forests, moss litter - all this creates optimal conditions for the growth of spruce rows.

What spruce rows look like

A photo of a spruce row, as well as a description of the fungus, will help identify specimens that are potentially dangerous to human life.

The mushroom cap is bell-shaped. The color is brownish, there is a shine on the surface. The diameter varies over a wide range: from 3 to 10 cm. Upon closer examination, radial stripes and slight scaliness can be seen on the surface of the cap. The plates are not located too often inside the cap. As you age, you may notice the appearance of dark spots on them.In older specimens, the caps begin to crack, revealing light, watery flesh.

The leg is thin, long, and clearly visible on the surface of the earth. There is almost always a slight bend at the top. When cut, it turns out that the leg is hollow inside.

Attention! The smell is unpleasant, weakly expressed. The taste of the raw fruit body is pungent and pungent.

Is it possible to eat spruce rows?

Due to its bitterness and unpleasant odor, the rower is classified as an inedible species. If consumed, signs of food poisoning may appear. Eating mushrooms by children and the elderly is especially dangerous. Growing and weakened organisms are not always able to cope with fungal intoxication.

How to distinguish spruce rows

The spruce variety of rowing can be confused with other mushrooms:

  • milk mushroom a little reminiscent of the row, but its cap is smoother, and its shade is grayish-green. Brown spots are clearly visible on the cap. When it rains, the surface becomes slippery. The main difference is that when a milk mushroom is cut, milky juice appears, while the spruce row does not have it. Milk mushrooms are considered edible, but due to the bitter milky juice they require pre-soaking and boiling. Milk mushrooms form mycorrhiza with birch trees, so the main accumulation is observed in deciduous or mixed forests, and spruce rows prefer coniferous areas. Milk mushrooms grow better in sunny meadows, and rows grow better in shady places with high humidity levels;
  • greenfinch (green row) differs in that the leg is almost invisible. The cap is green or greenish-yellow in color. The taste is weak, the smell resembles the aroma of flour. Greenfinch is a conditionally edible representative of the mushroom kingdom.It should be noted that when consuming a large amount of the product, the risk of thrombosis and heart attack increases, since the composition contains substances that help thicken the blood.

Signs of mushroom poisoning

You can even get poisoned by conditionally edible specimens if you prepare them incorrectly. It is better to avoid collecting inedible, as well as suspicious or questionable representatives of the mushroom kingdom.

If unpleasant symptoms appear after the dish, you must urgently do a gastric lavage and visit the hospital. If the victim is unconscious, vomiting cannot be caused, as he may choke.

The first symptoms of poisoning:

  • nausea and dizziness;
  • vomit;
  • pain in the stomach and intestines, accompanied by a cramping urge to defecate;
  • diarrhea (loose stools occurring 10-15 times a day);
  • heat;
  • rare, hard to palpable pulse;
  • cold extremities
  • in some cases, hallucinations are possible.
Important! Before the doctor arrives, you can use activated charcoal, cold water or strong, cool tea.

You shouldn't risk your health. Without medical attention, a minor illness can even be fatal.

You can be poisoned by canned mushrooms if an inedible specimen gets into the jar or the heat treatment of the winter preparation was carried out in violation of the technology. The first signs of botulism are similar to those of food poisoning.

Prevention of mushroom poisoning

To avoid suffering from food poisoning, you must adhere to the following rules:

  • do not collect mushrooms that raise doubts;
  • do not take overripe specimens with signs of spoilage into the basket;
  • It is necessary to prepare dishes from mushrooms immediately after harvesting;
  • It is recommended to store crops and preserves in a cool place.

Conclusion

Spruce row is a mushroom with an unpleasant odor and pungent taste. It is not eaten as food; it is classified as inedible.
