Planting and caring for garden jasmine Snowbel

In order for Snowbel jasmine to delight you with abundant flowering every year, it is necessary to properly organize the planting and care of the shrub. This will also protect the culture from various diseases.

Recommended timing

Mock orange Snowbel is planted in spring and autumn. It is advisable to plant in the spring before the buds open. In the fall, they are planted long before frost so that the shrub has time to germinate.

Site selection and soil preparation

The mock orange snowbel prefers areas well lit by the sun. It tolerates partial shade and shade quite well, but in this case the shoots reach towards the sun and there is no abundant flowering.

Mock orange Snowbel can grow in any soil. Fertile soil, which contains leaf soil, humus and sand, is preferable. The components are brought to a ratio of 3:2:1.

Advice! When planting, a drainage layer is required. It is recommended to make it from crushed stone with sand.

Landing algorithm

Planting and subsequent care of the Snowbel mock orange are simple. Follow the rules:

  1. Prepare a hole 50 x 60. If group planting is carried out, leave a distance between bushes of up to 1.5 m. When making a hedge, place mock orange every 0.5-1 m.
  2. Drainage is laid in a layer of up to 15 cm at the bottom of the pit.
  3. Prepared soil is poured onto it.
  4. If the mock orange seedling has an open root system, carefully straighten it and cover it with soil. If the root system is closed, transfer it with a lump of earth and add soil.
  5. The root collar is left at ground level. You can deepen it, but not more than 3 cm. Otherwise, rotting may occur.
  6. The soil is compacted, moistened abundantly using up to two buckets of water, and mulched.

Growing rules

According to gardeners, the Snowbel mock orange is unpretentious. Still, some care rules need to be known and followed in order to get abundant flowering.

Watering schedule

Mock orange (Philadelphus snowbelle) requires watering. In the absence of moisture, the leaves become limp and the bush may not bloom. Therefore, during the growing season it is recommended to water the plant regularly, every week. For an adult bush, take up to 3 buckets of water.

Weeding, loosening, mulching

During the summer, the mock orange tree trunk is cleared of weeds. At the same time, the soil surface is loosened to a depth of 4-8 cm. Deeper loosening is not recommended so as not to damage the roots. During the warm period, 2-3 loosening procedures are carried out.

The cleared soil under the bush is mulched. Peat, sawdust, and crushed bark are used. Pour a layer of mulch up to 3-4 cm.

Feeding schedule

Gardeners pay great attention to feeding the mock orange Snowbel. Every year they fertilize with mullein infusion. It is prepared in a ratio of 1:10. The use of mineral fertilizers begins in the 3rd year. Feeding is carried out according to the following scheme:

  1. For every 1-2 bushes, prepare 10 liters of solution. Add 15 g of potassium sulfate, 15 g of urea, 15 g of superphosphate.
  2. After the flowering period, apply to the soil for every 1 m2 20-30 g of phosphorus fertilizer, 15 g of potash and 100-150 g of ash.

Trimming

Jasmine Snowbel looks well-groomed in the photo. You need to know that it only becomes this way as a result of regular pruning and shaping. It is divided into groups:

  1. Since the shoots of the Snowbel mock orange are characterized by uneven growth, formative pruning is carried out to give the plant its shape. Strong shoots are shortened slightly. Weak branches are pruned more strongly so that they stimulate the growth of annual shoots. The work is carried out in the spring.
  2. At the age of 2-3 years, the rejuvenating crown is pruned. Old branches are removed, leaving those less than 10 years old. As a result, the shrub blooms profusely.
  3. Over time, so many shoots grow that the mock orange bush thickens. The decorativeness is falling. Carry out anti-aging pruning. In spring, a small number of branches, namely 3-4, are shortened to 40 cm. All other branches are removed to the surface of the ground; exposed sections are recommended to be treated with garden varnish. The area around the bush is mulched with compost. The mock orange is watered and fed with mullein. By autumn, new shoots grow. In spring, up to 3 of the strongest shoots are left on each stump, the rest are removed. This is the base of the bush.
  4. Sanitary pruning of mock orange is carried out annually. Remove broken and diseased branches. In summer, brushes that have bloomed are removed.

Preparing for winter

Garden jasmine or, as many people think, Snowbel mock orange does not require special preparation for the winter period. Even when landing, you can take care of the correct location of the place.

  2. Septoria spot. Round brown spots up to 1 cm in diameter appear on the leaves. Later, black fruiting bodies are formed. Over time, cracks appear in the center of the spots on the necrotic tissue and then fall out. The leaves are dying.Treatment with Bordeaux mixture helps.

Snowbel purchased Chubushnik 5 years ago. During this time, the bush revealed its decorative qualities. I didn’t see any problems with mock orange. The shrub is not afraid of frost, blooms beautifully, is compact, and has a delicate aroma. It does not spread wide, which allows you to plant other plants nearby. Repeated flowering occurs, although not as abundantly. The buds are large, terry. You can't even see the foliage behind them. But the shoots are quite thin, you have to use support.
