Milking machine for Delaval cows

Not every cow owner can afford a Delaval milking machine due to its high cost. However, the happy owners of the equipment appreciated the true Swedish quality. The manufacturer produces milking machines of stationary and mobile types, and has deployed a large dealer network in the Russian Federation.

Advantages and disadvantages of Delaval milking machines

The Delaval device is produced by a Swedish company. The manufacturer offers mobile models for private use, as well as professional stationary equipment for large livestock farms. Regardless of the type of model, the work is based on vacuum milking. Improved devices can be controlled remotely from a remote control.

The only disadvantage of Delaval equipment is its high cost. For example, for a mobile device MU100 you will have to pay at least 75 thousand rubles. However, a good milking machine is worth its price. The device is of impeccable quality and is suitable for milking goats and cows.

All Delaval devices are equipped with the Duovac system, which provides double vacuum. Automatic milking takes place in a mode that is gentle on the cow’s udder. In other words, the animal will not be injured if the milkmaid forgot to turn off the milking machine motor in time. At the end of milking, the system will automatically turn on the gentle mode.

Important! The advantage of Swedish milking machines is the presence of a large dealer network. The consumer is guaranteed professional service in case of malfunctions.

A larger list of all the advantages of Delaval can be viewed on the MU480 model:

  • The versatility of the milking machine lies in the ability to work with suspension systems designed for small and large milk yields. The operator is given the opportunity to more accurately select the suspension part that matches the milk flow for each herd of cows.
  • The presence of an intelligent identification control system speeds up the milking process by streamlining monotonous operations. The principle of operation is based on determining the number of a cow that has previously been milked.
  • The ICAR milk counter allows you to accurately record your milk yield. Additionally, the system takes samples. If necessary, the operator is able to examine the quality of milk at any time.
  • The high cost of the MU480 device is explained by the presence of wireless communication for controlling remote milking. The data is sent to the central computer. After identifying the cow, the system notifies the operator to prepare for milking. During the process and until it is completed, data continues to flow to the computer at high speed. In case of problems or errors, the operator instantly receives a signal.

The big advantage of the Delaval apparatus is its stable vacuum. The suspension system maintains operating pressure at all times. Milking is carried out safely, at high speed, until the milk is completely collected.

The lineup

Delaval products are intended for private and professional use on large farms. Models are conventionally divided into two large groups: for regular and remote milking.

The MMU line of machines is designed for conventional milking:

  • The MMU11 milking machine is designed for 15 cows. According to the milking speed, a maximum of 8 animals can be served per hour. The Delaval device is equipped with one attachment kit. Only one cow can be connected to the equipment during milking.
  • Models MMU12 and MMU22 are in demand by owners of small farms with more than 30 cows. Delaval devices have two sets of hanging systems. Two cows can be connected to one milking machine at once. On a farm, animals are lined up in two rows of two heads. The milking machine is installed on the row-spacing. Milking is performed first on two cows of the same row, then moves on to the next pair. The convenience of the scheme is explained by the increased milking speed. Only the glasses with the hoses of the hanging system are transferred to the other row. The device remains standing in its place. An experienced operator can service up to 16 cows in an hour.

Milk is collected in cans with a capacity of 25 liters. Delaval devices can be connected to a stationary line to transport products directly to the refrigerator. When using cans, the containers are placed on a trolley. Transport must be equipped with wide tires for better cross-country ability. Stability during parking is ensured by steel legs.

The Delaval suspension system has milking cups. Elastic inserts made of food-grade rubber are installed inside the case. They are the ones that are put on the cow's udder teats. Vacuum and milk hoses are connected to the glasses.Their second end is connected to the fitting on the manifold cover.

To perform remote milking, manufacturer Delaval has developed the MU480 model. The operation of the device is controlled by an electronic unit. Tasks are set by the operator via a remote control. A computer program monitors all milking processes. The device is capable of functioning with more than one suspension system. The motor can be started from the touch screen or via a computer. The operator only needs to manually place the cups on the cow's udder teats.

With the start of milking, milk is sent to the common line. The program remembers each cow by number. The software records the milk yield of an individual animal and calculates the total volume of raw materials received. All data remains in the memory of the central computer. The software sets an individual milking rhythm for each cow and maintains an optimal vacuum level. Sensors recognize the likelihood of mastitis, the onset of an inflammatory process or hunting. The software even creates an optimal diet that increases milk yield.

During operation, the MU480 frees the operator from monitoring milking. When milk has finished flowing, a signal is sent to the computer and the cups are automatically disconnected from the udder.

The video shows an example of how the Delaval device works:

Specifications

Delaval MMU oil milking machines are characterized by the presence of a vacuum gauge, a pulsator, and a vacuum regulator. During operation, the system maintains a rhythm of 60 pulses per minute. The operation of the vacuum pump is provided by an electric motor. Starting is carried out manually with a button. To protect against overheating, the engine is equipped with a sensor.

MMU milking machines use a 0.75 kW electric motor. The connection takes place to a single-phase 220 volt power supply. Delaval equipment operates stably at temperatures ranging from – 10 OFrom to + 40 OC. The devices are equipped with an oil-type rotary vacuum pump.

Instructions

The operation of the milking machine of the MMU line begins with connection to the electrical network. Pressing the start button starts the engine. Before milking, the engine is left to idle for about 5 minutes. During this time, air is pumped out of the hoses and a vacuum is created in the chambers of the glasses. During idle operation, the operator tests the performance of the components, checks for the absence of depressurization of the system, oil leaks, and extraneous sounds.

After setting the desired level of vacuum, milking cups are placed on the cow's teats. When milking begins, milk flows through hoses into the container. The Delaval milking machine provides a three-stroke milking mode. Two phases are aimed at compressing and expanding the nipple, due to which milk is expressed. The third phase provides rest. When milk stops flowing into the hoses, milking ends. Turn off the motor and carefully remove the milking cups.

Conclusion

The Delaval milking machine will pay for itself within a couple of years of operation. Reliable Swedish equipment will work for a long time without breakdowns if you follow basic operating rules.

Reviews of the Delaval milking machine

Margarita Aleksandrovna Terekhova, 57 years old
Our family lives off a mini-farm of 9 cows. Previously I used a device made in China. The noise and constant breakdowns forced us to abandon the use of cheap equipment. We bought the MMU11 device last year. So far there are only positive emotions.Quiet operation, gentle three-stroke milking is comfortable for cows. I don't regret the money spent.
Vasily Valentinovich Kuzhel, 49 years old
The farm where I have worked for over 10 years has installed MU milking units with electronics. Serving cows is a pleasure. The program does everything itself. The milkmaids are practically resting. In two years of use, Delaval equipment has never failed.
