Viburnum juice: benefits and harms

Morse is a traditional drink for Russia. The first written mention of it is already in Domostroy. They prepared a drink from wild berries: lingonberries, cranberries, blueberries.   • The high acidity of gastric juice does not allow the consumption of viburnum, since it contains a lot of acids.

Fruit drink preparation technology

It's quite simple. They sort and wash the berries. Crush them, carefully squeezing out the juice. They put it in the refrigerator. The pomace is boiled for several minutes in water with sugar dissolved in it. The cooled broth is filtered and combined with juice. Morse is ready.

This way you can make a drink from almost any berries.

Viburnum juice

The simplest recipe contains no other ingredients besides viburnum, water and sugar, but the number of ingredients may vary.

Traditional viburnum juice

For him you need to stock up:

  • 800 g viburnum;
  • 300 g sugar;
  • 2 liters of water.

The sorted berries are removed from the ridges and washed thoroughly. Allow the water to drain, place it in a saucepan in which the drink will be prepared, and grind it, turning the berries into a puree.

Attention! The masher should be made of wood; metal reacts with the acids contained in the berries and can form harmful salts.

Add water and sugar to the viburnum puree and bring to a boil. After a couple of minutes, remove the pan from the heat and let the drink brew under the lid until it cools down.

Warning! Dishes for viburnum juice should be enameled, or, in extreme cases, stainless steel; aluminum is not suitable in any case.

Concentrated viburnum juice

This recipe for viburnum juice additionally uses juice, so the drink turns out concentrated with a rich aroma and taste of berries.

For 600 g of berries you will need 300 g of sugar and half a liter of water. Squeeze the juice out of a third of the berries, crush the rest of the viburnum and boil for a couple of minutes in water with sugar dissolved in it. Strain the cooled broth and mix with juice.

Viburnum juice with honey

To prepare this fruit drink, we will need honey instead of sugar.

Attention! The combination of viburnum juice and honey enhances the healing effect of the berries.

Ingredients:

  • 0.5 cups of viburnum juice;
  • liter of water;
  • 100 g honey.

Squeeze the juice from the prepared berries, dissolve the honey in lukewarm water and mix with the juice. All the beneficial properties of honey and berries are preserved as much as possible in this fruit drink.

Viburnum juice with ginger

Sometimes spices are added to viburnum juice.This not only changes the taste of the drink in a positive way, but also adds beneficial properties to it. You can make a drink from viburnum with ginger. This composition is an excellent preventive and therapeutic remedy for colds.

We will need:

  • a couple of bunches of viburnum;
  • dried lemon balm leaves - 3 tbsp. spoons. If there is no lemon balm, you can take the same amount of dried mint.
  • 2 star anise and the same number of cinnamon sticks;
  • quarter of a lemon;
  • 20 g ginger root.

For sweetness and benefit, add honey to the drink, determine the amount according to taste.

Boil 3 cups of water, add dried herbs, ground or whole spices, cook for 5 minutes.

Advice! Spices for this drink can be replaced and chosen to suit your taste. The best combinations with viburnum are cloves, pink pepper, and cardamom.

We crush the washed viburnum without removing it from the bunches. To do this, it is convenient to use a wooden masher. Chop or finely chop the ginger root. Add ginger and viburnum to the hot herbal decoction, add lemon slices and simmer for about 20 minutes. Let it brew under the lid. Serve warm or cold, adding honey.

Results

Fresh viburnum is difficult to preserve for a long time. To extend the period of consumption of viburnum juice, you can dip the washed berries, without removing them from the branches, in liquid honey and let it dry. This way the viburnum will last much longer, especially if you keep it in the refrigerator.

Viburnum juice is not only a tasty drink. It is valued as a means of preventing and treating many diseases, especially during cold and flu season.
