Rose High Magic is a hybrid tea variety of Dutch selection. The plant got its name, which translated from English means “high magic,” due to its bright flowers with an unusual fiery color of the petals.
Origin story
The variety High Magic, or High Orange Magic, appeared in the Netherlands. It was bred by European breeders of the Pressman company in 2006.
In Russian nurseries the variety is also called “High” and “Hich Magic”
Description and characteristics of the High Magic rose
The plant reaches a height of about 1 m, and a diameter of no more than 60 cm. The compact bush holds its shape well. The branched root system develops quickly.
Erect, even shoots are highly durable, so this rose variety does not need garter or support during flowering. There are a small number of thorns on the stems. Sometimes they are completely absent.
Leaf plates of a rich emerald hue are matte. The anterior surface is darker than the posterior one.
The leaves have slight pubescence and pronounced veins
The High Magic variety is distinguished by long and abundant flowering, which begins in late spring and lasts until late autumn. As a rule, single flowers appear on the shoots. But sometimes it happens that large buds are woven into miniature brushes consisting of 3-4 flowers. The type of flower is densely double, the shape is simple.
The flowers reach no more than 6 cm in diameter and consist of 40-50 petals. A characteristic feature of the High Magic variety is that the glass-shaped buds bloom gradually, thereby creating the effect of continuous flowering.
The flowers have a pleasant sweetish aroma that is barely perceptible. The petals are slightly curved, and the bud holds its shape for a long time.
The main feature of the plant is the unique shade of the flowers, which can be seen in the photo of the High Magic rose variety. The characteristic color is called “dancing fire”, since the smooth transition of one color to another resembles flashes of flame. The tips of the petals are bright yellow, and the edges are reddish or deep orange.

In the south, the procedure can be carried out at the beginning of this spring month. If planting is planned for autumn, then it is recommended to carry out manipulations in September.
The High Magic rose should be planted in a well-lit or slightly shaded place, protected from gusty winds. The soil on the site must be fertile, loose, moisture- and breathable.
Before planting, it is recommended to dig up the soil in the selected area. This will help in the future to achieve more abundant flowering and rapid growth of plant stems. You will also need to prepare the fertilizer in advance using the following ingredients:
- 3 parts manure;
- 2 parts sand;
- 1 part peat.

Step-by-step instructions for planting a High Magic rose:
- Dig holes 50 cm deep.Place a layer of drainage (expanded clay, broken brick) on the bottom of the planting hole.
- Place the seedling in the hole so that the root collar is 5 cm above the soil surface. The recommended distance between plants is at least 0.5 m, and between rows - 1 m.
- Mulch the plantings with peat or fallen leaves.
The frequency of watering depends on weather conditions. During drought, it is recommended to moisten the soil twice a week. Water should be poured directly under the root. Avoid getting liquid on the leaf blades, as this can lead to the development of fungal diseases.
It is recommended to loosen the soil twice a month. You need to feed the High Magic rose several times a season. Fertilizer application scheme:
- nitrogen - at the beginning of the growing season;
- manure or bird droppings - at the stage of bud formation;
- complex mineral fertilizer - during flowering;
- potassium - in the fall before the onset of frost.
The buds of annual plants are cut off. Starting from the second year of life, mass pruning is carried out in the summer. Damaged and weak stems are cut off. Blind shoots are shortened by cutting above the leaf blades.
At the end of autumn, weakened branches are pruned and leaves are removed.
In the middle zone and in the north, it is recommended to cover plants for the winter. The tops of the shoots are pinched, strong stems are bent to the ground. Then a frame is built and the structure is covered with peat or film.

- Divide the shoot into several parts 15 cm long. Each division should have 2-3 buds.
- Treat the top of each cutting with brilliant green.Place the cuttings in a root former for a day.
- Bury the stems into the soil 3 cm.
- Water the seedlings and cover the top with a plastic bottle. Regularly moisten the soil.
As soon as the first leaves appear, the cuttings can be transplanted into open ground.
Diseases and pests
Most often, the High Magic rose develops a fungal disease such as powdery mildew. Chemicals such as Topaz or Fundazol will help cure the plant.
To prevent the development of the disease, it is recommended to carry out preventive treatment using fungicides three times a season.
Deformation of the leaf blades and falling buds may be signs that the rose has been attacked by green roseate aphids. To combat harmful insects, it is recommended to use a soap solution. You should take 200 g of laundry soap and dissolve it in 10 liters of hot water. You need to spray the rose bushes with the cooled solution.
Spider mites can cause significant damage to varietal plants. Acaricides - Actellik or Flormite - will help destroy the microscopic spider.
