Varieties of roses and useful recommendations when choosing a bouquet

The rose has long been considered the queen of flowers, and the branch of primacy rightfully belongs to it. This is perhaps the most ancient plant, the first mentions of which date back to the 2nd millennium BC. Persia is considered the birthplace of the rose. Today we know about 20 thousand different varieties of roses, but breeders continue to breed new varieties of this wonderful shrub.

The roses you value so much in an elegant bouquet are not at all easy to grow on an industrial scale. These flower plantings require periodic renewal, special climatic conditions, seasonal pruning, and the use of special fertilizer. Roses are vulnerable to diseases, various pests and other factors. Accordingly, the process of growing and caring for them takes a considerable amount of effort, money and time. This all affects the determination of the price level for these flowers. A separate expense item is the delivery and storage of roses. Naturally, the further away the producing country is, the more expensive the price of the bouquet will be.

Rosa Ecuador

The name of roses comes from the republic of the same name, located in South America. Ecuador is a fairly warm country with enriched soils and good crops. Ecuadorian roses grow on the mountain slopes of the country in their natural habitat. For their freshness and beauty, a 12-hour daylight hours, uniform temperature conditions and fertile soil are enough. And although Ecuador started growing roses only in the 90s of the last century, today it is the second country in the export of cut flowers. Ecuadorian roses have gained particular popularity with their large buds and tall stems. Also popular among them are bush roses with many flowers on the stem. However, such plants have one big drawback - lack of smell. Due to long transportation, flowers lose their aroma.

Rose Kenya

Kenya is an East African country with a predominantly warm climate and mineral-rich soil. Kenyan roses have many varieties, but they come to us in the form of low flowers with small buds. These roses are filled with a delicate aroma with subtle oriental notes. They are very compact and come in a whole range of colors.

Kenyan rose has an undeniable advantage in cost. This is probably due to its unpretentiousness to the environment. These flowers easily travel long distances, which is extremely important for transportation to our country.

Rose Holland

The country of Holland is characterized by a fairly cool climate and lack of fertile soils. However, this did not stop the Dutch rose from becoming the queen of sales. Unfortunately, Dutch flower growers do not neglect to use many chemicals to grow roses. This is precisely the reason why Dutch roses, under our normal conditions, quickly lose their attractiveness. Also, flowers have only a slightly audible aroma, which is interrupted by preservatives.

Dutch varieties have a delicate root system, which does not allow them to withstand the frosty months. They are very whimsical to grow, so not every fan manages to grow such flowers.

Rose Russia

In Russia, more than 80 farms are engaged in growing roses for supply to the domestic market. The cold winter period does not allow production to expand greatly, since the use of various preservatives is prohibited in the country. This does not allow for the durability of the bud, as with flowers from other countries. But the advantage of the Russian rose remains its incredible natural aroma, which lasts for a long time.

Roses have a thin stem with a small bud, which visually gives the flower grace and tenderness. The petals of the flower have a soft velvet coating. Prices for Russian roses are significantly lower than for imported ones, but they fluctuate depending on the season.

The range of roses on the current market is impressive in its diversity. It is difficult to make comparative characteristics or study the specifics of each variety. When choosing flowers, you should be guided primarily by the recipient’s preferences or taste. One way or another, for a good gift, not only the appearance of the bouquet is important, but also its freshness and durability.
