Content
Vallar for cockchafer larvae is one of the most effective remedies. Many insecticides only get rid of adult insects. Most often, they have no effect on beetle larvae. Therefore, the drug spread quite quickly among summer residents. It is used for processing fruit crops, berries (including strawberries), saplings and seedlings of various trees - deciduous, coniferous. It is fast and highly efficient.
Purpose
Vallar is a chemical insecticide that is used for the prevention and control of the following pests:
- larvae of the May beetle and other varieties of beetles;
- wireworms;
- false wireworms.
The product is used to treat different crops:
- saplings and seedlings of conifers, deciduous trees;
- ornamental plants;
- fruit trees - apple, pear, plum and others.
Composition and release form
The active ingredient in Vallar is diazinon. It is an organic nitrogen-containing compound consisting of nitrogen, phosphorus and sulfur. Empirical formula for compound C12H21N2O3PS.Belongs to the class of organophosphorus compounds (OPS).
It comes in the form of granules that dissolve well in water at room temperature. The concentration of the active substance is 40 g per 1 kg. The product is packaged in bags. The manufacturer and registrant of the insecticide Vallar for the cockchafer is the company CJSC "August" (Russia, Moscow).
Operating principle
According to the principle of action, the insecticide Vallar belongs to three categories:
- Intestinal - penetrates the intestines of the insect (along with the juice of the plant being eaten) and destroys it.
- Contact – also penetrates through direct contact with the integument of the body and limbs.
- Systemic - absorbed by plant tissues and then moves through the vessels. Due to this, chafer beetles feeding on juices receive a toxin and die en masse.
In terms of its effect on pests, diazinon is classified as a nerve poison. It acts similarly not only on arthropods, but also on warm-blooded animals. The substance inhibits vital esterase enzymes that transmit nerve impulses. This leads to the accumulation of acetylcholine, the concentration of which reaches critical values, which leads to muscle cramps and ultimately to paralysis. As a result, after 2-3 days, the complete death of the larvae of cockchafers and other beetles occurs (the effect is noticeable already in the first day).
After treatment with Vallar, plants are reliably protected from pests for 30-40 days. There is no waiting period, so the harvest can be harvested within a few days. It is advisable to wait at least 4-5 days from the moment of the last treatment.
Advantages and disadvantages
The drug Vallar, which is used against cockchafer larvae, has a number of advantages. Experienced gardeners prefer to spray crops with this particular product to get rid of larvae and adult insects.
Pros:
- high efficiency (total death of insects);
- speed (the first results are noticeable within a few hours);
- increases the survival rate of seedlings and saplings after planting;
- there are no waiting periods - the harvest can be harvested almost immediately;
- used for treatment not only against cockchafers, but also against wireworms;
- slightly toxic to humans.
There are some shortcomings, but they are not that significant.
Minuses:
- narrow spectrum of action (affects only beetleworm and wireworm larvae);
- the prepared solution is not stored - it must be used immediately;
- During processing, personal protective equipment should be used, including gloves and a mask;
- Pests may develop resistance (resistance) to the effects of the active component of the drug.
How to use Vallar against cockchafer larvae
The instructions for using Vallar are quite simple. It is used in the form of a “chatterbox” - an aqueous extract. You need to do this:
- Wear gloves.
- Measure out the required amount of the drug (8 g per 1 liter of “chatterbox”).
- Pour a glass of water (200 ml) into a container.
- Dissolve the granules and stir.
- Add enough soil to form a thick mass.
- Bring to a total volume of 1 liter, stirring continuously.
- If necessary, add a little soil to form a paste.
- Place seedlings with an open root system for several hours.
- The next day, plant them in the ground.
Vallar against cockchafers is also used 25-30 days after planting seedlings or saplings in the ground. The granules are scattered superficially, focusing on a consumption rate of 5 g per 1 m2. After this, dig in a little so that the granules move into the surface layer of soil. During the season, it is enough to carry out 1-2 treatments (first in the form of a “chatter”, then - direct embedding of granules into the ground).
Compatibility with other drugs
It is not recommended to mix Vallar with other drugs. It is better to treat with insecticides at intervals of 3-5 days or more.
Therefore, it is recommended to use it in alternation with other insecticides.
Security measures
In terms of toxicity to humans, Vallar belongs to class 3 (moderately dangerous). During treatment against cockchafers, the following precautions must be taken:
- Wear gloves, mask, protective clothing.
- Do not talk, do not eat or drink, do not smoke during the preparation of the solution and the actual treatment.
- Prevent children and pets from accessing the area.
- If the solution gets on your skin, wash with warm water and soap.
- If the product splashes into your eyes, wash them thoroughly under a running stream with moderate pressure.
- If ingested, immediately take several tablets of activated carbon. They need to be chewed, then washed down with plenty of water.
- If you experience abdominal pain or other unpleasant symptoms that do not go away but get worse, you should seek medical help as soon as possible.
Insecticide Vallar for cockchafers is stored under normal room conditions with limited access to direct sunlight. Sharing with food products is excluded. The shelf life of the drug is two years from the date of production.
The prepared solution cannot be washed into a public sewer or well. You can water the planting site with it.
The product must be stored in a place inaccessible to children and pets.
Analogues
Vallar has quite a few analogues for the active substance: “Barguzin”, “Mukhoed”, “Diazinon Express”, “Enlil”, “Grom”, “Grom-2”, “Muravin”, “Praktik”, “Terradox” and other. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Conclusion
Vallar from cockchafer larvae shows good results, which are noticeable already in the first day after dipping the seedling in the “chatter”. As a rule, 1-2 applications per season are sufficient. The use of Vallar allows you to reliably protect fruit and berry crops, as well as ornamental trees from various types of beetles and wireworms. Moreover, you can use it at any time, since there are no waiting periods.
