The instructions for use of Vertimek contain a description of the action of the drug, its chemical composition, the algorithm for preparing the solution and other rules. The insecticide is used to treat tomatoes, cucumbers and other protected soil plants, as well as flower (including potted) plants, grapes and apple trees. The product is quite effective - complete death of pests is observed within 2-3 days after spraying.
Description of the drug Vertimeca
Vertimek is a drug belonging to the class of biological pesticides. It is used to kill insects and ticks, i.e. it is an insectoacaricide. Vertimek can be used to control the following pests:
- thrips (greenhouse, tobacco, western flower);
- Colorado potato beetles;
- spider and common mites;
- apple sucker.
The Vertimek product is used to treat various crops - vegetables, flowers, including violets, and others (in open and protected ground): apple trees, grapes, eggplants, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers.
The manufacturer and registrant of the drug is Syngenta LLC (Russia, Moscow, brand country: Switzerland).
Active ingredient and principle of operation of Vertimek
According to the type of action, Vertimek belongs to the intestinal and contact insecticides. It contains the active ingredient abamectin (concentration in the original emulsion 18 g/l). It is an organic compound with the empirical formula CH3C47H70O14.
Belongs to the chemical class of avermectins - substances that are a product of fermentation of soil bacteria. Mechanism of action: neurotoxin. Penetrating into the body of an insect or tick, abamectin stimulates the synthesis of gamma-aminobutyric acid, which blocks the transmission of nerve impulses. This leads to paralysis of ticks and insects, resulting in their death.
The substance saturates plant tissues relatively quickly and is characterized by translaminar activity (penetrates deep into the leaf blades and does not simply remain on the surface). It is noted that the pests lose activity within a day, and complete death occurs after 2-3 days. In this case, the protective effect persists for 3-4 weeks after treatment with the insecticide.
The waiting period for the biological agent Vertimek depends on the crop. So, you can start harvesting at least three days after the last treatment in the case of the following plants:
- eggplant;
- tomatoes;
- pepper.
For fruit and berry plants (grapes, apple trees), the waiting period is significantly longer and is 28 days.
During flowering, the Vertimek insecticide is not used. It can be used for prevention (at the beginning of the season) and treatment against pests (in summer).
Therefore, you need to plan the time of the last treatment in advance.
Advantages and disadvantages
The drug Vertimek has long been known to experienced and beginning farmers, gardeners and summer residents. It is characterized by a number of advantages.
Pros:
- highly effective action (complete death of insects after 2-3 days);
- affects pests on both sides of the leaf plate;
- safe for plants;
- quickly (within 2 hours) penetrates into the tissues of the leaf plate;
- long period of protection (up to four weeks).
- the waiting period is relatively short (3-28 days);
- the likelihood of resistance occurring is low.
But there are several disadvantages that are important to consider before starting processing.
Minuses:
- Vertimek is dangerous for humans and bees;
- cannot be used in a water protection zone;
- not used in tank mixtures.
How to prepare Vertimek working solution
The drug is produced in the form of an emulsion concentrate - a liquid that is used to obtain a working solution by diluting with water. You can dilute Vertimek according to the following instructions:
- Wear gloves.
- Measure out the required volume of product (for example, 5 ml per 10 l). It is most convenient to use a syringe.
- Dissolve first in a small amount of water.
- To stir thoroughly.
- Bring the total volume to 10 liters (standard bucket).
- Pour into a spray bottle.
- Start processing plants.
Instructions for use of the drug Vertimek for 10 liters
You can use the drug according to the dosages presented below. Vertimek is not a fertilizer. It is a biological pesticide that is relatively dangerous to humans and beneficial insects. Therefore, the instructions must be followed carefully, without exceeding the permissible number of sprays. The prepared solution should not be stored - it is recommended to use the entire volume at a time.
Treatment with the Vertimek insecticide, regardless of the crop and the pest, is carried out according to the general rules:
- late evening (preferably after sunset);
- in calm or light wind (no more than 2 m/s);
- in dry weather.
During treatment with the solution, the above-ground part of the plants is completely sprayed, trying to get on the stems, upper and lower half of the leaf. It is impossible to spray the inflorescences, so the insecticide is used before the flowering stage, and then during the formation of the ovaries and after it.
From ticks
To destroy spider mites and common mites, proceed as follows:
- Measure out 2.5-3 ml of the drug using a syringe.
- Dissolve in a small amount of water.
- Then the total volume is brought to 10 liters.
- Mix thoroughly and begin processing.
Taking into account the fact that the minimum period of protective action is 14 days, the interval between sprayings is chosen the same, i.e. two weeks.
From thrips
To combat thrips, you need to obtain a Vertimek solution in an amount of 5 ml per 10 liters of water. The product is also first dissolved in a small volume and brought to 10 liters. Number of treatments – up to three per season.
From the Colorado potato beetle
To treat Colorado beetles, dissolve 1 ml per 10 liters. Pour into a spray bottle and start spraying.It is enough to carry out 1-2 treatments.
From the apple sucker
Apple trees are sprayed with a weak solution of the Vertimek insecticide. It is enough to dilute 1 ml in 10 liters of water. In this case, one adult tree may need 2-3 buckets at once. Carry out one treatment per season (in spring).
Other pests
To destroy aphids and other pests, a concentration of the drug is also used in an amount of 1 ml per 10 liters of water. Number of treatments – 1-3.
Compatibility with other drugs
Vertimek insecticide is not used in tank mixtures. It is not advisable to mix it with other pesticides, as well as fertilizers and growth stimulants. Treatment with drugs is carried out at different times, for example, after 2-3 days.
Security measures
One of the disadvantages of the Vertimek insecticide is its high toxicity: very dangerous for bees (class 1) and dangerous for humans (class 2). Therefore, when spraying with the drug, it is necessary to observe safety measures:
- During treatment, avoid eating, drinking, smoking, and talking.
- Work with the solution only with gloves, wear a mask and safety glasses. You can also use special clothing.
- If Vertimek solution gets on your skin, wash it off with warm water and soap.
- If the product splashes into your eyes, rinse immediately with running water.
- If ingested, take several tablets of activated carbon. Drink plenty of water. If symptoms of poisoning appear, seek medical help immediately.
- The insecticide Vertimek is prohibited from being used in the water protection zone of reservoirs.
- After the treatment, bees should be excluded from the apiary for 4-6 days.
- The prepared solution is used in full.It is strictly forbidden to pour it into public sewers or bodies of water, since Vertimek is highly toxic to fish and other aquatic organisms.
The general shelf life is four years from the date of manufacture.
Analogs of the drug Vertimek
Analogs of the insecticide include the following drugs: “Sareip”, “Kraft”, “Cleopatra”.
With long-term use of the Vertimek insecticide, it is possible for pests to develop resistance (addiction, resistance). Therefore, as a preventative measure, it is recommended to alternate the use of the product with other drugs (seasonally).
Conclusion
Instructions for using Vertimek are quite simple. Take from 1 to 5 ml of suspension per standard bucket of water. The product can only be used in the late evening, in dry and windless weather. If the infestation is not very severe, only one treatment is sufficient. Plants are sprayed no more than three times during the entire season.
