Tomato Early love: reviews, photos, yield

The Early Love tomato was created in 1998 on the basis of the breeding agricultural company Seeds of Altai. After experimental cultivation in 2002, it was included in the State Register with a recommendation for cultivation in greenhouse conditions and unprotected soil.

Description of tomato Early love

The Early Love variety is suitable for growing in temperate climates and in the southern regions. In areas with cold weather conditions, tomatoes are cultivated in greenhouse structures in the South in open ground. The unprotected growing method is more productive. The Early Love tomato is a determinate variety; in greenhouses it grows up to 1.2–1.5 m, in an unprotected area – up to 2 m. Due to the growth, the yield level is slightly higher.

The variety is frost-resistant, withstands well the drop in temperature at night, and does not require the installation of additional lighting in greenhouses. The mid-season crop matures in 90 days and is characterized by stable yields. Drought resistance in the Early Love tomato variety is average; with low humidity and irregular watering, cracking of the fruits is possible.
After flowering is complete, the tomato stops growing; the main focus of the growing season is on fruit ripening.The tomato bush of the variety Early Love is not a standard type, but at the same time produces a small number of shoots. The plant is formed with one main stem; as stepsons form, they are removed.
External characteristics and description of the Early Love tomato:

  1. The main stem is of medium thickness, the structure is rigid, the surface is smooth, finely pubescent, the color is dark green. The stepsons are thin, weak, a shade lighter than the central shoot. The stem cannot support the mass of fruit on its own; it requires fixation to a trellis.
  2. The foliage of the variety is weak, the plant is open, the leaf blade is dark green, medium in size, the leaves are opposite, lanceolate with a corrugated surface and jagged edges.
  3. The root system is close to the soil surface, fibrous, the root circle is insignificant - within 35 cm. It does not tolerate waterlogging and moisture deficiency.
  4. The flowers are yellow, bisexual, and the tomato variety is self-pollinating.
  5. The brushes are medium size, thick, filling 5-6 ovaries. No more than five clusters are formed on the stem. The first bunches produce larger fruits; the rest form evenly shaped tomatoes.
Important! The fruits of the Early Love variety, which have not yet reached ripeness, are fully ripened after picking in a shaded room.

Description of fruits

Tomato variety Early Love for universal use. The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption and are processed for making juice and ketchup. Due to its flattened small shape, it is used as a whole fruit for pickling and preservation in glass jars.

Characteristics of tomatoes Early love:

  • round shape with pronounced ribbing near the stalk, average weight - 90 g;
  • the surface is glossy, red, with sufficient lighting with a pink tint;
  • the peel is medium dense, elastic, prone to cracking in dry weather;
  • the pulp is red, juicy, dense, at the stage of conditional ripeness white areas are observed, multi-chambered, without voids;
  • beige seeds in small quantities, large, suitable for breeding the variety;
  • the taste is balanced, the content of sugars and acids is in optimal proportions, the presence of acid in the taste is insignificant.

The tomato variety Early Love retains its appearance (12 days) and taste for a long time, and safely withstands long-term transportation.

Characteristics of tomato Early love

Tomato Early Love is a mid-late variety. Tomatoes ripen unevenly; the first ripe fruits are picked in the second ten days of July. The tomato variety bears fruit for a long time, until the onset of frost. In a greenhouse, the yield is lower due to crop growth. In the South, in unprotected soil, the main stem is longer, 2 more fruit clusters are formed on it, so the indicator is higher.

Tomato Early Love is a variety with stable fruiting, independent of weather conditions and agricultural technology. Can grow in periodically shaded areas. Requires moderate but constant watering; with a lack of moisture, the fruits form less mass, the peel is thin, of medium density, cracks at low air humidity.

The bush is not spreading, it does not take up much space in the garden bed, 4 plants are planted per 1 m2. Average recoil level with 1 unit. – 2 kg, for a determinate variety the figure is average. About 8 kg of tomatoes are harvested from 1 m2.

Resistance to infections in the Early Love tomato variety is above average, the crop is not affected by late blight. Fungal infections can occur if cultivation requirements are not met:

  1. When the humidity of the root circle is high, phimosis develops, affecting the fruits. To eliminate the disease, reduce watering, remove diseased tomatoes, and treat the bush with Hom.
  2. Dry spotting manifests itself mainly in unventilated greenhouses; it affects the plant completely; the infection is eliminated with Antracola.
  3. At high humidity and low temperature, macrosporiosis is observed, and the pathogen progresses on the stems. Reduce watering, feed with nitrogen-containing products, and treat with copper sulfate.
  4. Damage to the Early Love tomato is caused by slugs and the Whitefly butterfly. To destroy parasites, Confidor and contact biological preparations are used.

Advantages and disadvantages

The Early Love tomato variety is characterized by a number of advantages:

  • stable fruiting;
  • long harvest times;
  • slight formation of side shoots;
  • flattened fruits, universal purpose;
  • balanced taste, delicate aroma;
  • the tomato retains its taste after artificial ripening;
  • frost-resistant, shade-tolerant;
  • compact, does not occupy a large area;
  • suitable for farm cultivation;
  • It lasts for a long time and is easily transported.

The disadvantages of the variety are:

  • average yield;
  • thin unstable stem requiring support.

Rules for planting and care

Agricultural technology for the tomato variety Early Love is standard. Mid-ripening tomatoes are cultivated in seedlings; this shortens the ripening time and eliminates damage to young shoots by spring frosts.

Sowing seeds for seedlings

You can grow planting material indoors or sow it in a mini-greenhouse on your site.The second option is used in regions with a warm climate; for a temperate climate, it is better to sow seeds in boxes or containers and place the containers at home. The temperature should be at least +200 C, lighting for at least 12 hours.
Planting work is carried out at the end of March, after 50 days the seedlings are assigned to a plot or greenhouse. Therefore, the timing is oriented according to the regional climate characteristics. Before planting the seeds, fertile soil is prepared; it contains sand, peat and compost in equal proportions.

Action algorithm:

  1. The mixture is calcined in the oven and poured into containers.
  2. The seeds are immersed in a growth-stimulating solution for 40 minutes, then treated with an antifungal drug.
  3. Make a longitudinal indentation of 2 cm.
  4. Distribute the seeds at 1 cm intervals.
  5. Cover with soil, water, and cover with transparent material.

When young shoots appear, the shelter is removed. Water the seedlings using the drip method. Feed with complex fertilizers. After three sheets have formed, they are dumped into separate plastic cups.

Important! Tomato variety Early Love is planted on the plot after the formation of the first buds.

Transplanting seedlings

The tomato is placed in a permanent place in the greenhouse in May, in an open area after the soil has warmed up to +18 0C. Recommendations for replanting the variety:

  1. The bed is dug up, nitrophoska and organic matter are added.
  2. Make furrows 20 cm deep and fill the bottom with peat and ash.
  3. Plants are placed at an angle (reclining), covered with soil up to the lower leaves.
  4. Water and mulch with straw.

Planting scheme for the variety: row spacing - 0.5 m, distance between bushes - 40 cm. The distribution of seedlings in the open bed and in the greenhouse is the same, per 1 m2 - 4 pcs.

Aftercare

Care after planting the Early Love tomato variety consists of the following activities:

  1. Mandatory weeding weed as they grow, loosening the soil.
  2. In an unprotected bed, watering is carried out in accordance with seasonal precipitation, the optimal watering rate is 8 liters of water 3 times a week at the root. In the evening, watering can be replaced by sprinkling.
  3. Tomato variety Early Love is fed from the beginning of flowering until autumn every 20 days, alternating organic matter, phosphorus, potassium, superphosphate.
  4. They form a bush with one central shoot, cut off the rest, remove the shoots and dry leaves. The clusters from which the harvest is harvested are removed and the lower leaves are cut off. The stem is fixed to the trellis.

When the Early Love bush reaches 25 cm, the root is first hilled up, then mulched with sawdust, straw or peat.

Conclusion

Tomato Early Love is a determinate variety with a mid-early fruiting period. The frost-resistant plant is suitable for growing in temperate climates using a protected method, in the South in open ground. The yield level is average, fruiting is stable. The tomato is universally used, goes for processing, and is consumed fresh.

Reviews of tomato Early Love

Elena Maltseva, 51 years old, Moscow region
I plant different tomatoes in my garden plot, one of them is the Early Love variety. The plant is unpretentious, does not take up much space, the fruits are of the same shape, small, well suited for canning. I collect tomatoes until late autumn. The yield is average, and the taste is excellent.
Lyudmila Zakharova, 30 years old, Yeisk
Tomato Early love is a standard representative of the culture. The taste is good, the aroma is almost not noticeable. If the tomatoes are a little unripe, there are white fibers in the pulp.This year I planted the variety for the first time, next year I did not collect seeds; for our southern climate there are more productive tomatoes.
Zinaida Malysheva, 46 years old, Perm
I have been planting the tomato variety Early Love in a greenhouse for several years, the tomato does not create problems with care. During all this time I never got sick. The yield is average, but it takes up little space. This year I collected about 25 kg from 10 bushes, enough for salads and canning.
