Tomato Fleshy sugary: reviews, photos, yield

The Fleshy Sugary Tomato is the result of the work of Russian breeders. The copyright holder and distributor of the seeds is the agricultural firm “Ural Summer Resident”. The varietal crop was zoned in the North Caucasus region and entered into the State Register in 2006. Recommended for cultivation in open ground in the southern part of Russia, indoors in temperate climates.

Description of the tomato variety

The Fleshy Sugary tomato variety, shown in the photo, according to reviews from vegetable growers, is one of the large-fruited and tall-growing representatives of the species. An indeterminate type culture forms a standard bush and does not produce lateral shoots, which is unusual for tomatoes with unlimited growth. The height of the central stem reaches more than 2.5 m. Tomato variety Fleshy sugary generative vegetation, growth is aimed at the formation of fruits, not the crown.

The variety is mainly widespread in areas with warm climates; here it is cultivated in open areas. Growing in regions with short summers on unprotected soil is possible, but the yield will be lower. Mid-season tomatoes do not have time to fully ripen.For temperate climates, the closed cultivation method is suitable. In the greenhouse, the plant feels comfortable and bears fruit fully.

Tomato frost resistance is average, drought resistance is high. The plant tolerates partial shade and temporary moisture deficiency well. External description of culture:

  1. The tomato forms a bush with one thick central stem. The structure of the shoot is hard, woody, light green with a gray tint. Stepchildren are formed of the first order; they are weak, thin, and are not used to form a bush. 3-4 side shoots are formed, they are immediately removed.
  2. The foliage is medium, the leaves are oblong, narrowed at the top, opposite. The surface of the leaf blade is highly corrugated, with obvious veins and an intense fine edge. The edges are finely toothed.
  3. The tomato root system is superficial, highly overgrown, thick, and powerful. The structure is fibrous.
  4. The fruit clusters are thick, short, and contain 4–5 ovaries.
  5. The tomato blooms with simple bisexual flowers, the variety is self-pollinating; with the help of pollinating insects, the level of fruiting increases.
Important! Tomato variety Fleshy, sugary, when artificially ripened, completely retains its taste and aroma.

Description of fruits

The tasting classification divides all varieties of tomatoes into sour, sweet and sour and sweet. According to descriptions and reviews, the Fleshy Sugary tomato is a classic representative of sweet varieties. The large-fruited crop produces tomatoes of varying weights; on the first bunches they are large, but towards the last they decrease in size.

External characteristics of the fruit:

  • round, slightly elongated shape;
  • the surface is bright pink, plain, glossy, with slight ribbing;
  • the peel is thin, durable, not prone to cracking, and resists mechanical stress well;
  • the pulp is loose, juicy, fully corresponds to the name, consists of six seed sections, there are no voids or white areas;
  • there are few seeds, they are large, beige in color, retain varietal characteristics when planted, suitable for growing tomatoes - 3 years;
  • the fruits are not leveled, the weight of the first tomatoes is about 500 g, the next 250-300 g.

Tomato variety Fleshy sugary belongs to the salad variety. Due to the high concentration of sugars, it is suitable for fresh consumption and for processing into juice. The last fruits are used for preservation; they are smaller in size. Tomatoes are stored for a long time and can safely withstand transportation; if picked at the stage of technical ripeness, they ripen completely indoors.

Main characteristics

The tomato variety Fleshy Sugary is characterized as mid-early. The first fruits ripen by mid-July. Ripening is uneven and long. In the central part of Russia, the last tomatoes are harvested at the stage of technical ripeness in early September. Temperature drop to + 15 0C, completely stops the growing season. In the greenhouse, the harvest time is extended by a week. In the South, the last fruits are harvested at the end of September.

The plant does not require excess sunlight for photosynthesis. The yield and weight of tomatoes does not change if the variety is planted in an area with partial shade. Short-term moisture deficiency does not affect taste and fruiting.

Important! Tomato reacts poorly to sharp drops in air temperature and exposure to north winds.

The Fleshy Sugary variety is a high-yielding tomato. The standard type bush is compact and produces the main growth in height.Doesn’t take up much space on the site, dense planting (4-6 plants) per 1 m2 does not affect the vegetation. Fruiting in a temperate climate in a greenhouse is 3-4 kg higher than in open areas. In southern latitudes, greenhouse and open cultivation show the same yield. On average, 10 kg are collected from each unit.

Stable immunity is not the strong point of the Fleshy Sugary tomato variety. The plant is weakly resistant to fungal infection. Affected by the following diseases:

  1. Phimosis affecting fruits. Diseased tomatoes are removed, the plant is treated with “Hom”, and watering is reduced.
  2. Dry spotting. The infection progresses throughout the plant. The fight against fungus is carried out with the following means: “Tattu”, “Antrakol”, “Consento”.
  3. Late blight, To stop the disease, the bushes are treated with Bordeaux mixture.

Among the pests in open ground, slugs may appear on tomatoes. They are eliminated using contact-acting biological products. In the greenhouse, the variety is parasitized by the Whitefly moth. The larvae are collected by hand and the tomato is sprayed with Confidor.

Advantages and disadvantages

The positive characteristics of the Fleshy Sugary tomato variety include:

  • high level of productivity, which does not depend on lighting and watering;
  • long fruiting periods;
  • shade tolerance, drought resistance;
  • compactness, the plant does not take up much space on the site
  • tomato does not require constant pruning;
  • large-fruited. The fruits are large, aesthetically pleasing in color with high gastronomic characteristics;
  • good transportability.

The disadvantage of the Fleshy Sugary tomato variety is:

  • poor resistance to infection;
  • different weight of fruits;
  • uneven maturation within one hand.

Rules for planting and care

Mid-season tomato varieties, which include Fleshy Sugary, are bred only by seedlings. The method will shorten the ripening period of fruits. In temperate climates with short summers, this condition is especially important. You can grow tomatoes in the South by direct planting of seeds in the ground.

Sowing seeds for seedlings

Before starting work on sowing seeds, prepare containers and soil mixture. To plant seedlings, use wooden boxes 15-20 cm deep or plastic containers of a similar size. Fertile soil is purchased from a retail chain or mixed independently from sand, turf layer, compost and peat, in the same proportions. Sow the seeds around March. The term is conditional, it is different for each region. They are guided by the climatic features of the area; after 45-50 days, the seedlings will be ready for removal to the site.

Planting work:

  1. The seeds are treated with manganese, then placed in a solution that stimulates growth for 20 minutes.
  2. The soil is heated in the oven for 15 minutes at a temperature of +180 0C.
  3. The soil is poured into containers, leaving at least 5 cm of free space to the edge.
  4. Make furrows, deepen the seeds by 2 cm, maintaining a distance between them of 1 cm.
  5. They fall asleep, water, and cover with film on top.

The boxes are placed in a warm room.

Advice! Containers should not be placed in direct sunlight.

After germination, the film is removed and the plant is moistened with a spray bottle every evening. After the third leaf appears, the seedlings are planted in large containers with the same soil composition. Before planting, feed with complex fertilizers.

Transplanting seedlings

Tomato seedlings of the Fleshy Sugary variety are placed in the greenhouse in early May.The time of planting in an open bed depends on the temperature; the main condition is that the soil must warm up to +18 °C.

Transplanting seedlings:

  1. Pre-dig up the area, add organic matter and nitrogen-containing products.
  2. It is determined by the planting scheme; the plant is not spreading, so it is enough to leave 45–50 cm between the rows.
  3. Make longitudinal furrows 15 cm deep.
  4. Ash is poured onto the bottom, the plant is placed vertically, and covered with soil up to the first leaves.

The distance in the greenhouse and in the open area between the bushes is the same - 35–40 cm per 1 m2 4–6 plants are planted.

Tomato care

The big advantage of the Fleshy Sugary variety is that the tomato is unpretentious in care. He requires standard agricultural technology. Basic care consists of the following activities:

  1. Weeding weed – the procedure is mandatory, the tomato has a weak immunity to the fungus, and the weed is an ideal place for reproduction.
  2. Loosen the soil as necessary so as not to damage the root; go deeper than 5 cm.
  3. Water the plant in open ground in accordance with the frequency of seasonal precipitation; three waterings per week are sufficient for the tomato. During the hot season, sprinkling is carried out periodically in the evening (2 times a week).
  4. Fertilize tomato varieties Fleshy sugary from the moment of flowering every 15 days, alternating potassium, superphosphate, organic matter, phosphorus.
  5. The bush does not need to be formed; the lower shoots are removed, the tomato does not produce more lateral shoots, the bearing clusters and lower leaves are cut off. The central stem and, if necessary, fruit clusters are fixed on a trellis.
  6. When the Fleshy Sugary variety grows to 20 cm, it is hilled up and mulched with straw.

Conclusion

The Fleshy Sugary tomato is a pink, large-fruited variety of mid-early ripeness that produces consistently high yields. The fruits are sweet with a high gastronomic rating. The variety is cultivated in greenhouses and open gardens.

Reviews of the tomato Fleshy sugary

Tatyana Samoilova, 37 years old, Krasnodar region
I bought tomato seeds in a store, accidentally saw a photo of a Fleshy Sugary tomato on the packaging, read reviews about the variety, and purchased it for an experiment. The name of the crop brought a smile; when I was harvesting the first harvest, I realized that it was in vain. Tomatoes fully correspond to the name and characteristics. There were no problems with cultivation; the crop is absolutely unpretentious. The only thing I did unscheduled was to treat the bushes with copper sulfate; prevention helped to avoid infection.
Viktor Korabelnikov, 52 years old, Voronezh region
A good variety, I have been growing it for several years. This is not a hybrid; the Fleshy Sugary tomato produces its seeds for seedlings. Planting material remains viable for about 3 years, then it is advisable to renew the seeds, because the crop degenerates and the tomatoes become smaller. I grow tomatoes in a greenhouse and harvest impressive harvests - up to 9 kg per bush. The whole family likes the taste of the fruit.
