Details about pink tomato

Malinovka was bred in the very cozy and small Kazakh city of Semey. This is probably why this tomato loves warmth and sun so much. In the southern regions of Moldova, Belarus, Ukraine and Russia, as well as in Kazakhstan, tomatoes are grown in open ground.Where the soil does not warm up even in summer, Malinovka can only be planted in greenhouses - the yield of the variety only increases with this method of cultivation.

The characteristics of the Malinovka variety are as follows:

  • tomato is a semi-determinate type - in a greenhouse the bushes grow up to 120-150 cm, and in open ground the plants are not so tall - only 60-90 cm;
  • tomato bushes are not too densely leafy, they are not standard;
  • plants need to be shaped during growth;
  • leaves of tomato type, medium size, green;
  • the stems are very powerful, strong, thick;
  • shoots are thin but strong;
  • inflorescences are simple;
  • The ripening period for Malinovka is average - the growing season ranges from 105 to 120 days (depending on growing conditions);
  • the shape of the fruit is spherical, slightly ribbed;
  • tomatoes are large, their average weight is from 250 to 500 grams;
  • unripe tomatoes are colored light green; as they ripen, the fruits turn crimson-red;
  • The peel of tomatoes is thick and durable, the fruits rarely crack;
  • the pulp is very fleshy, there are few seeds in the tomatoes;
  • the dry matter content is average, so the crop tolerates transportation well and can be stored for some time;
  • Malinovka has excellent taste - balanced sugar and acid content, pronounced tomato aroma, tender pulp;
  • The variety's yield is high - with proper care, it is possible to harvest more than five kilograms of tomatoes from every square meter of land;
  • the Malinovka tomato variety is resistant to many bacterial and fungal diseases, including tobacco mosaic virus and blossom end rot;
  • The Malinovka tomato harvest ripens very quickly, so you need to pick the tomatoes quickly, otherwise they will be overripe;
  • The purpose of tomatoes is universal - they can be consumed fresh, used for making juices and purees, tomato paste, fresh vitamin salads;
  • Growing Malinovka is possible both in protected and open ground.

Attention! Malinovka is a varietal tomato that has no hybrid forms or analogues. Therefore, the seeds of these tomatoes can be collected from your own harvest.

Advantages and disadvantages

The description of the variety will be even more complete if all the advantages of the Malinovka tomato are listed. A This tomato has a lot of advantages over other pink-fruited varieties:

  • high productivity;
  • unpretentiousness and resistance to dangerous diseases;
  • large, even fruits that are not prone to cracking;
  • high taste and commercial qualities of tomatoes;
  • friendly ripening of tomatoes;
  • suitability of the Malinovka for transportation and storage;
  • non-hybrid origin of the variety.

The Malinovka tomato has no disadvantages as such. With proper care, you can harvest these delicious tomatoes from the last days of July until mid-September.

Important! Like all large-fruited tomatoes, Malinovka needs good nutrition and sufficient moisture.

Growing rules

Tomatoes of the Malinovka variety are suitable for both a simple summer resident and a farmer who grows vegetables for sale or for processing - it all depends on the number of bushes planted.

Growing a large-fruited Kazakhstani tomato is not difficult, but it is important to follow certain rules and properly care for tomato bushes.

Planting a tomato

In the middle zone, it is customary to grow tomatoes through seedlings, and Malinovka is no exception. Therefore, the first thing a gardener must do is sow the seeds of a varietal tomato.

Attention! The timing of sowing seeds is selected based on the mid-ripening of the variety and the climatic characteristics of a particular region. The optimal time for planting tomatoes for seedlings is two months before the upcoming transfer to the ground or 1.5 months before transplanting into a greenhouse.

Robin seedlings are grown in the same way as usual:

  1. Seeds are disinfected by soaking in a weak solution of manganese.
  2. Now the tomato seeds need to be soaked for a couple of days so that they hatch.
  3. Now prepare the planting containers and fill them with loose nutritious soil.
  4. The soil needs to be moistened with warm water and the seeds scattered.
  5. Tomato seeds are sprinkled with a thin layer of soil or dry peat and the plantings are sprayed with a spray bottle.
  6. Containers with tomatoes should be kept warm under film until the first shoots hatch.
  7. The film is removed, and the containers with tomatoes are placed on the window, closer to the sun.
  8. Caring for tomato seedlings consists of watering and several feedings using mineral complexes.
  9. At the stage of 2-3 true leaves, Malinovka tomatoes need to be picked - transplanted into larger and deeper cups.

The Robin seedlings are transferred to a permanent location when the soil on the site or in the greenhouse warms up and 6-8 true leaves appear on the plants themselves. The presence of the first flower buds is acceptable.

Advice! Do not plant the tall tomato Malinovka too thickly. The optimal planting pattern is three plants per square meter (when growing tomatoes with one stem, you can increase the number of bushes to four).

Tomato care

Caring for Malinovka tomatoes is not difficult, but do not forget that any variety of this crop requires constant attention from the gardener. After planting in a greenhouse or garden bed, you must regularly do the following:

  1. Water the tomatoes warm, preferably settled, water. The time for watering is chosen in the evening or done in the early morning, while there is no scorching sun rays. You need to water tomatoes so as not to wet the leaves, stems and fruits, because excess moisture causes a dangerous enemy of tomatoes - late blight. Therefore, drip irrigation or root watering is preferable.
  2. Large robin tomatoes pull a lot of nutrients from the ground. For the harvest to be abundant and tasty, the soil needs feed regularly. Fertilizers are applied every two weeks, mineral complexes are used. It is most convenient to dissolve fertilizers in water for irrigation or spray tomato leaves with fertilizers.
  3. The soil around the bushes should be loose and moist. Therefore it is necessary Weed the beds regularly or use mulch – sawdust, straw, mown grass. Weeds are not needed near tomatoes, so they should be destroyed regularly.
  4. Although the Malinovka tomato is immune to some diseases, it is better not to neglect preventive treatment and spray the bushes with fungicidal and insecticidal agents. This is done even before the fruits form, at the flowering stage of the tomatoes.
  5. Malinovka bushes it is necessary to form. Plants are grown in one or two stems, excess shoots and stepsons are periodically removed. You should also pick off the lower leaves of tomatoes to improve ventilation of the bushes.
  6. Tomatoes are harvested regularly, starting at the end of July. You should not allow the fruits on the bushes to overripe; it is better to pick the tomatoes a little unripe - this way they will be better stored and will be able to withstand transportation.
Attention! Tall Malinovka tomato bushes need support - both in the greenhouse and on the ground, tomatoes must be tied up using trellises or pegs.

To reduce the risk of tomatoes becoming infected with late blight and other fungal infections, it is necessary to regularly ventilate the greenhouse, mulch the soil, and pluck excess leaves from the bushes.

Review

Antonina Viktorovna
I had long heard about a tomato called Malinovka, but I could not find the seeds of this variety: I always came across those whose fruits were cream. As a result, I read that the large-fruited variety is called Malinovka Apple and immediately found seeds with that name. My long search for this pink tomato was completely justified: both in the open ground and in the greenhouse the tomato harvest was more than decent. I liked that the tomato stems were thick, the shoots were without kinks, and the large clusters didn’t even have to be tied up. The summer was cool, cloudy days prevailed, so my tomatoes did not want to turn red. I fed them with a potassium-magnesium solution and everything returned to normal - the robin turned pink and the fruits became juicy and aromatic. I will definitely plant this tomato next year, especially since there is no problem with the seeds now - I collected them in sufficient quantities from my own harvest.

Conclusion

Tomato Malinovka is an excellent option for those who grow tomatoes for themselves or for sale. This variety is universal, as it is suitable for both soil and greenhouses, and feels great under arches. Robin fruits are very tasty, beautiful, and will become a real decoration for the summer table.

Growing the Malinovka variety is not difficult, you just need to get strong seedlings and create suitable conditions for tomatoes.
