Siberia is a huge part of Russia, characterized by poor climatic conditions with low temperatures and a short summer period. However, this is not an obstacle for local gardeners: many farmers grow heat-loving vegetables, including peppers, on their plots. For this purpose, domestic experimental vegetable stations have developed special zoned varieties. They are resistant to the existing climate, unpretentious to soils and cultivation conditions. At the same time, it is possible to select varieties of pepper for open ground in Siberia, which have special cold resistance, high yield and excellent taste.
Peppers for the open spaces of Siberia
When choosing a pepper variety for sowing in open ground, you should pay attention to several parameters, namely:
- plant growth;
- the duration of the period from sowing the seed to the beginning of fruiting;
- taste and color of pepper;
- cold resistance;
- productivity;
- pulp thickness.
These parameters are usually indicated by the manufacturer on the seed packaging.In this case, the crop will best comply with the declared parameters if it is recommended by the manufacturer for cultivation in specific areas.
Pepper varieties presented by breeders for cultivation on an open plot of land in Siberia can be classified according to the color of the fruit.
Yellow peppers
Bright yellow peppers can truly be considered a decoration for a garden bed, especially Siberian ones. In order to grow a rich harvest of yellow peppers, you need to give preference to the following varieties:

The name itself speaks of the sunny color of these peppers. Despite the fact that the plant is not tall (up to 90 cm), its fruits are massive, weighing up to 300 g. They are particularly juicy, fleshy and aroma. The thickness of the pepper wall reaches 1 cm. Such large fruits ripen on average in 116 days.
In order to get a timely harvest, it is recommended to sow seeds for seedlings in February. When 2-3 true leaves can be observed, the plants need to be pruned. At the same time, in the spring, crops should be protected with film cover on the arches. Under favorable conditions, the yield of the “Golden Pyramid” variety reaches 7 kg/m2.
Oriole
High-yielding variety, producing fruits up to 11 kg/m2. Bright yellow peppers are distinguished not only by their abundance, but also by their amazing taste. They are not very large, weighing only 80 g, however, they have a pronounced sweetness and bright aroma. From the day the seed is sown until the first fruits ripen, just under 120 days pass.

On one bush of this variety, dark green and bright orange fruits are simultaneously formed. Their shape is similar to a cone, their weight does not exceed 160 g. The wall thickness of the vegetable is up to 5 mm.
The variety is grown mainly in open areas, however, it can also be cultivated in a greenhouse. The plant is medium-sized, bears fruit in quantities up to 6 kg/m2.
Veselinka
An early-ripening, disease-resistant variety whose peppers are bright yellow. Their shape is extraordinary: cylindrical, greatly elongated. This fruit weighs only 80 g, but its walls are quite fleshy and do not taste bitter at all.
The plant is medium-sized, not very bushy, so it is recommended to plant it in open ground at a rate of 4 pcs. at 1 m2 soil. The plant is cold-resistant and slows down its development only at temperatures below -100C. The crop yield reaches 7.5 kg/m2.
