Sweet peppers are loved by many; their use in cooking is very diverse: in vegetable salads, in first and second courses, in winter preparations. Therefore, gardeners always plant sweet peppers on their plots every season.
The variety of varieties and hybrids is amazing. We will talk about the Bychok variety. For lovers of orange peppers this will be a real find.
Characteristics of the variety
Pepper of the Bychok variety is mid-season; 100–125 days pass from the moment of germination to the receipt of the first fruits. The plant reaches a height of up to half a meter and is semi-spreading in shape. The fruits of Bychok pepper are round, slightly tapering towards the top, large, weighing up to 150 g. At technical maturity, the fruits are light green in color, at biological maturity – orange. The surface is glossy, smooth, slightly ribbed. The fruit wall is 4.5 - 5 mm thick. The pulp is juicy, crispy, aromatic, and has an excellent taste. The fruits of the Bychok variety are used for preservation and for preparing a wide variety of dishes; it is useful to eat peppers fresh.
Sweet pepper Bychok is characterized by high productivity. More than 5 kg of harvest is obtained from an area of 1 sq.m. The plant bears fruit for a long time. Not afraid of fungal infection, which causes wilting and death of the plant.
Features of cultivation
Seedling
When winter ends and everyone is waiting for the beginning of spring, it’s time to sow the seeds of the Bychok variety for seedlings. Fertile soil, loose in composition, is suitable for growing seedlings. It is better to enrich the soil from your garden with purchased soil for seedlings and mix in sand. Take everything one piece at a time. Fill the containers with soil and moisten the soil. Place the seeds in the prepared soil to a depth of 1 – 1.5 cm.
Containers with planted seeds can be covered with film, making a kind of greenhouse.
After the shoots have appeared, wait until two true leaves appear. This is the most suitable period for picking. Prepare separate containers and carefully plant the plants. Water it. After 2 weeks, fertilize the young plants. You can use liquid fertilizers for seedlings that are ready for use: Agricola, Krepysh, Mortar. 40 - 60 days after the Bychok pepper sprouts, the seedlings will be ready to move to a new permanent place of residence: in open ground, in a greenhouse or greenhouse.
Planting pepper
Pepper grows well after:
- Luke;
- cucumbers;
- pumpkins;
- cabbage;
- zucchini;
- carrots.
The worst predecessors are:
- potato;
- tomatoes;
- eggplant.
Dig the ground well, level it, make holes. For plants of the Bychok variety, it is enough to maintain a distance of 50 cm between rows and 30 cm between holes. Place 1 tablespoon of mineral fertilizer in the hole and mix it with the soil.Carefully remove the plant from the container, being careful not to damage the roots, and place it in the hole. Fill the hole halfway with soil, water well and completely fill the hole with soil. The plant may need to be staked. If you planted several different varieties, it is better to label them. After planting the seedlings in open ground, prepare arches and covering material. If night temperatures drop below +14 degrees, the plants will need to be covered.
Care
Regular plant care includes watering, weeding, and loosening. Water temperature for irrigation +24+25 degrees. Water once a week, and when it is hot - twice a week until the plant blooms. After the start of flowering and during the period of fruit ripening, it is necessary to water more often, 2 – 3 times a week.
Peppers respond well to loosening the soil. Do not loosen deeply, no more than 5 cm, since the root system of the plant is located close to the soil surface. Be sure to loosen after watering and rain.
Be sure to fertilize your plants. It will take 4-5 times per season. Use a water solution of bird droppings (1:15) or slurry (1:10). If necessary, use products to protect plants from diseases and pests.
The first harvest from plants can be obtained in early June. The fruits are harvested at technical ripeness, when the fruit is formed but remains green. And in biological ripeness, when it has its own varietal characteristics (size, color, shape).
