Helpful Tips for Growing Healthy Climbing Zucchini

Although zucchini is an unpretentious crop, sometimes situations may arise when the plant dies, and it is not clear how to help it and how to preserve the already existing fruits. The following tips will help in some situations to preserve the harvest or at least prevent infection of other crops:

  1. After emergence, the new ovary immediately rots. This case indicates that the zucchini have little space and are too stuffy; proper and constant ventilation must be ensured.
  2. Irregular fruit shape with a spherical end. This situation indicates that the plant lacks potassium. You can fertilize the soil with potassium according to the following recipe: sprinkle the soil near each plant with ash at the rate of half a liter per plant, and in the evening spray the “Uniflor-bud” culture at the rate of 2 teaspoons per 10 liters of water.
  3. Narrowed lighter tip of the fruit. This indicates a lack of nitrogen. To prevent the problem from reoccurring, you need to feed the soil with herbal or manure infusion. Moreover, both cow and bird droppings are suitable.
  4. Excess moisture manifests itself by rotting of the tips of ripe fruits. There is no need to water the plant so often and give the soil time to dry.
Fruits that are too small, if they should be larger according to the variety, do not need to be collected until they are fully ripe. They contain a lot of nitrates.
  5. It is best to cut zucchini in the morning, as they stay fresh much longer.
  6. If fruiting is delayed, then the reason for this is a lack of sunlight.
