Bouquet cucumbers

A couple of years ago, summer residents began to widely grow cucumbers with bouquet ovaries. The arrangement of flowers in such plants is somewhat different from the standard one. Typically, cucumbers can form no more than 2-3 cucumbers in one node. But bouquet cucumbers can form from 3 to 10 ovaries. This contributes to the formation of a very good harvest, which, if all the rules of agricultural technology are followed, can become even more abundant.

Benefits of bouquet cucumbers

The main and very significant advantage of such cucumber varieties is their unusually high yield. The number of ovaries in a bouquet also depends on where exactly it is located. So, in the lower beams it is too big. Whereas in the middle part of the plant (especially on the side shoots) there can be much more of them. Signs of the presence of a bouquet are visible during the period of abundant flowering and the beginning of fruiting, when the plant has not yet begun to age. Productivity during this period is usually the highest.

Flowers in bouquets do not bloom at the same time. This is an alternate process that lasts several days.

And since the ovary does not form at the same time, on one bush you can see cucumbers in different stages of their development. Thus, up to 20 fruits of different sizes can grow on one plant. However, it all depends on the variety.

Another important advantage of such a plant is that bouquet cucumbers will never leave gardeners without a harvest. Even if the first ovary may not develop for some reason, the next one will definitely begin to bear fruit.

How to grow properly

To get a good harvest without following the rules of agricultural technology for such cucumber varieties is, if not impossible, then very difficult. It must be remembered that no matter how productive the varieties are, one plant can feed only a limited amount of ovary. Loading a plant with fruits is wrong. In order to regulate this process, there is a certain forming technique.

If the plant is formed correctly, then, instead of wasting its energy on the growth of extra shoots and ovaries, it directs resources to the growth of existing fruits. Excess ovaries will sooner or later be unable to develop normally - they will wither and dry out.

It is also important to harvest these vegetables in a timely manner. If you allow them to grow large and fully ripen, the yield will drop. Therefore, it is best to pick the fruits when they have not yet reached large sizes.

Features of care

These varieties of cucumbers always give a good harvest. But in order to grow a strong plant that will produce high-quality, marketable fruits, you need to adhere to the following rules:

  1. Buy cucumber seeds with bouquet ovary.
  2. Prepare the soil for planting. This must be done at least a month before the start of planting.
  3. When planting a plant, you need to consider its future size and the method of forming the bush.
  4. The formation of the plant must take place on time and correctly.
  5. It is necessary to mulch the bed to prevent moisture evaporation. Mulch needs to be added every week.Green nettle mulch has a good effect on plant health.
  6. It is useful to water the garden bed with herbal infusion.
  7. Spray the plants with special preparations every week.
  8. Cucumbers require proper and timely feeding. To do this, you can use a cucumber chelate.

Also, do not forget about the appearance of the plant:

  1. The lower parts should not turn yellow. If this happens, then the plants most likely do not have enough nitrogen and need to be added along with fertilizers.
  2. If the dark green leaves suddenly dry out and fall off, then the composition of the soil is observed lack of phosphorus.
  3. If the leaves on cucumbers have light edges and begin to fade during extreme heat, then the plant does not have enough potassium.
  4. If the leaves are dome-shaped in the middle, then there is a lack of potassium.
  5. If light spots appear on the leaves, this indicates a lack of iron.

In order for cucumbers with bouquet ovaries to grow strong and produce a bountiful harvest, they need to be cared for in the same way as self-pollinating ones.

The best varieties of cucumbers with bouquet ovaries

Dubrovsky F1

This is a hybrid that matures very quickly. Usually, about 40 days pass from the beginning of its growth to the beginning of fruiting. It is best grown in open ground, but it can also be grown in a greenhouse.

Has a female type of flowering. The growth of side shoots is limited, which gives him the opportunity to devote more energy to fruiting, and the gardener to worry less about the formation of the bush.

It is recommended to sow cucumber seedlings of this variety in the second half of April (closer to the end of the month). You can plant it in open ground after 4-5 true leaves appear. Typically the plant produces four ovaries.

The fruits are cylindrical, up to 4 centimeters in diameter and up to 12 centimeters in length. The plant tolerates drought well and is well transported. From one bush you can collect about 7 kilograms of fruit.

Picnic F1

This is one of the representatives of early ripening hybrid varieties. From germination to the beginning of the fruiting phase, 42 days pass. Grown in greenhouses. Has a female type of flowering.

For seedlings, seeds are sown in the second half of April. In the phase of appearance of 3-5 true leaves, the plant can be transplanted to a permanent place.

The fruits are cylindrical, 12-14 centimeters long, and have tubercles with white spines. There can be up to 10 bouquets on the main shoot at the same time. You can harvest up to 9 kilograms of cucumbers from one plant.

Lilliputian F1

Lilliputian F1

This is a representative of an early ripening hybrid variety with a bouquet ovary. It begins to bear fruit very quickly - already on the 38th day after emergence. Parthenocarpic hybrid, which has a predominantly female type of flowering.

It tolerates cultivation equally well both indoors and in open ground. Seeds germinate at a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius.

Planted in the ground after the plant receives 3 true leaves. The fruits grow up to 10 centimeters in length. The plant can form about 10 ovaries at the same time.
