Description of the web spider

The blue-legged webwort is a fruiting body with a smooth brown cap with a bluish fibrous stem.

Description of the cap

The hat can be in the shape of a hemisphere or convex. As it grows, it becomes prostrate, with a small funnel in the center. The edges are wavy, slightly curled down. Its surface is smooth and slippery to the touch. Color varies from reddish to green-brown.

The pulp is highly dense. In the cap and upper part of the leg it is yellow, in the lower part it is blue. The plates are sparse, adherent. When young they are gray-violet, when fully mature they are brown.

Appearance top and bottom

Description of the leg

Where and how does it grow

The blue-legged web spider grows both singly and in small groups. It is found in deciduous, coniferous and mixed forests in the eastern part of Russia. Fruiting lasts from early August to late September.

Is the mushroom edible or not?

The mushroom belongs to the category of conditionally edible. The cap, which is considered the most edible part, is mainly eaten. Used for preparing second courses, marinated and salted. Does not have high nutritional value. In its raw form, it is tasteless, with a slight unpleasant (musty) odor.

Attention! Before preparing dishes, the blue web spider must be boiled for at least 15-20 minutes. The decoction is unsuitable for consumption and must be thrown away.

Doubles and their differences

The blue-legged webweed differs from its fellows by the characteristic color of the stem, which is unique to it. The main difference is the whitish lower part with a bluish or pinkish tint. Therefore, in nature there are no doubles with which this mushroom could be confused.

Conclusion

Gossamer cobweb is a conditionally edible mushroom that requires pre-processing. It is strictly prohibited to consume it raw. Suitable for pickling, when dried and fried it is too hard.It differs from other mushrooms in the color of the stem, bluish with a pink-blue tint.
