Several dozen seedlings were planted surrounded by varieties distinguished by frost resistance and dessert fruit taste.The work was carried out using the open pollination method. As a result, out of a thousand elite seedlings, the 3 best became new hybrids. In 2003, the Kompotny apricot variety was included in the State Register of Russia and is recommended for cultivation in the Black Earth Region, including the northern regions of the region.

Compote apricot is a tall tree, reaching 4-6 m, with a dense, compact crown. The root system is quite strong and branched. The tree has a high degree of shoot formation. Apricot foliage is large and dark green. The plates are hard, oval in shape with small teeth along the edges.

Due to the presence of a dense, velvety skin, the Kompotny hybrid can be stored for up to three weeks, tolerates transportation well over long distances, and retains its presentation for a long time.
