Nozemat: instructions for use

"Nozemate" is a drug used to treat bees with infectious diseases. This medicine can be fed to bee colonies or sprayed on them. The main thing is to carry out this procedure before the honey collection begins or after it ends.

Application in beekeeping

The health of bees may be threatened by an infectious disease called nosematosis. As a rule, this disease affects adults, and if treatment is not promptly treated, the bee colony will die. This infection can be noticed after wintering or in the spring - the bees look weakened and die.
Nosema is the most dangerous infection that affects honey bees. Unfortunately, not all beekeepers can recognize the disease in the early stages, and in the later stages treatment practically does not help. That is why Nozemat is used for prophylactic purposes to prevent infection.

Release form, composition of the drug

"Nozemat" is a complex medicine used to treat bees. Includes:

  • metronidazole;
  • oxytetracycline hydrochloride;
  • glucose;
  • ascorbic acid.

The drug is produced in powder form, has a light yellow tint, with a specific odor. This powder dissolves well in water. Each package contains 10 sachets of 2.5 g.

Pharmacological properties

Metronidazole and oxytetracycline hydrochloride included in the composition have a bactericidal effect, preventing the appearance of pathogens of protozoal diseases in bees. If we take into account the level of impact on the body, the medicine is classified as low-hazard.

Attention! If you use the medicine in small dosages, you don’t have to worry about intoxication of the bees, and the quality of the finished product does not change.

Instructions for use for bees

Nozemat is given according to the instructions, which allows it not to harm the bees. In early spring, before flight begins, the powder is added to the honey-sugar dough. For every 5 kg of kandi, 2.5 g of the drug is added and 0.5 kg is distributed to each family.

After completion of the spring flight, medicinal syrup is given. To do this you will need:

  1. Mix 2.5 g of medicine and 50 ml of water at +45°C thoroughly.
  2. Pour into 10 liters of syrup, which is prepared in a 1:1 ratio.

This solution must be given 2 times, with an interval of 5 days. For each bee family there is 100 ml of medicinal syrup.

Important! As a rule, medicinal syrup must be prepared before use.

Instructions for using Nozemate in the fall

In autumn, the medicine is given to bee colonies in diluted form along with sugar syrup. Such feeding is usually carried out between August 15 and September 5. The cooking process is as follows:

  1. Take 20 g of the drug.
  2. Add it to 15 liters of sugar syrup.

The medicinal solution is given to the bees 120 ml per frame.

Dosage, rules of use

Treatment using Nozemat is carried out in the fall, before honey collection begins, or in the summer after the honey is pumped out. The medicine is fed to the bees or sprayed on them. For 1 family it takes about 0.5 g.

To spray the bees, you will need to add 15 ml of the medicine to warm water, mix thoroughly and spray the frame with the bees. This amount of solution is usually enough to process 1 frame on each side.

If you plan to feed a bee family, you will need:

  1. Dissolve 6 g of powdered sugar and 0.05 g of the drug in a small amount of water.
  2. Mix with sugar syrup.
  3. Use 100 ml of solution for each hive.

Treatment in a similar way is carried out 4 times with an interval of 7 days.

Important! Before treatment begins, the bee colony is moved to disinfected hives. The queens are replaced with new ones.

Side effects, contraindications, restrictions on use

If you give Nozemat to bees according to the instructions and do not exceed the permissible dosage, then there will be no side effects from use. Manufacturers have not established any contraindications for the use of the drug. The only thing that needs to be taken into account first is that Nozemat is not recommended to be given to bees during the honey collection period.

Shelf life and storage conditions of the drug

The medicine must be stored in closed packaging from the manufacturer. For storage, you must choose a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, away from food products. Temperature conditions can vary from +5°C to +25°C.

If you follow the storage conditions indicated by the manufacturer on the packaging, the period is 3 years from the date of production. After 3 years, it is unacceptable to use the product.

Conclusion

“Nozemate” is a type of medicine that helps prevent bee diseases and prevent the death of colonies from infectious diseases. The instructions for use must be followed. If everything is done correctly, the quality of the finished product upon completion of treatment will not suffer. It is important to consider the expiration date, since it is not recommended to use expired drugs.
