Planting and caring for roses Blanc Meillandecor
Rose Blanc Meillandécor is best planted in early autumn, about 2-3 weeks before the first frost. Spring planting is also allowed, but not earlier than the beginning of April (in the Urals, Siberia, and in the northern regions - at the end of the month). The site is selected and prepared in advance; it must meet several criteria:
- open or in partial shade from trees, shrubs;
- located on a hill (water accumulates in the lowlands, which has a bad effect on the roots);
- if possible, protected from draft winds.
The soil for planting Blanc Meillandécor roses must be not only fertile, but also loose. Suitable chernozem, loam with a neutral or slightly acidic environment. It is advisable to prepare the holes a month in advance. The algorithm is like this:
- First, several holes are dug at a distance of at least 1.5 m, dimensions 60*60 cm.
- Pebbles or other small stones are placed at the bottom.
- A layer of fertile soil with humus and peat is poured on top of them. If the soil is too dense, add 1-2 kg of sand.
- They are allowed to stand for several weeks, after which the Blanc Meillandécor rose seedlings are planted.
- Straighten the roots, compact the soil so that the neck goes to a depth of 5 cm.
- Then water with settled water and mulch after a few days.
The rose variety Blanc Meillandécor is not too demanding, but in order for the bush to regularly produce flowers, it is necessary to follow certain care rules, especially in the first years after planting:
- The plant should be watered regularly, avoiding drying out and cracking of the soil. At the same time, you need to monitor the weather forecast so as not to provide excess water during the rainy period. The rest of the time, liquid is given 1-2 times a week.
- After heavy rains and watering, the soil under the bush must be thoroughly loosened. It is also recommended to weed periodically. To keep weeds as low as possible, it is worth laying a layer of mulch, such as straw or sawdust.
- Roses of the Blanc Meillandécor variety need to be fertilized at least three times per season. In April, give urea or ammonium nitrate (20 g per 10 l). This fertilizer will ensure rapid growth after the winter period. During the formation of buds, feed with complex fertilizer or a mixture of superphosphate (40 g per 10 l) with potassium sulfate (30 g per 10 l). A similar composition is applied 1-2 more times with an interval of three weeks.
- Rose Blanc Meillandecor does not need any special preparation for winter. Although in the Urals and Siberia the bush needs to be hilled up, and if the plant is young, the shoots need to be pinned, having first laid them on dry straw or spruce branches. The top can be covered with thick agrofibre or burlap.
- Every spring it is recommended to do sanitary pruning of the Blanc Meillandécor rose. At the end of March, old, diseased and frost-damaged branches are cut off. If necessary, shoots that thicken the crown are removed so that the bush acquires attractive contours.
Reproduction methods
Rose Blanc Meillandécor is most often propagated by cuttings.To do this, at the end of May or at the beginning of June, several green shoots are harvested, the apical parts are removed and the lower cut is made obliquely. At night they are placed in a solution with a growth stimulator, for example, “Zircon”.
Then they are planted in a fertile, moist mixture, covered with a bottle, regularly ventilated and watered. At the end of summer they are transferred to a flowerbed, and in September-October they are carefully mulched for the winter.
Diseases and pests
Rose Blanc Meillandecor has very good resistance to common diseases. It is extremely rarely affected by powdery mildew and black spot. At the same time, it is worth observing the watering norm, without giving too much water. In early spring, it is recommended to carry out sanitary pruning, as well as treat the bushes with any fungicide:
- "Bordeaux mixture";
- "Abiga Peak";
- "Tattu";
- "Ordan".
Insect infestations should not be ruled out. Rose Blanc Meillandecor can suffer from aphids, spider mites, leaf beetles and other insects. Therefore, bushes need to be periodically inspected for the presence of cobwebs, plaque and other extraneous signs. If an invasion begins, it is important to promptly treat with insecticides:
- "Decis";
- "Vertimek";
- "Match";
- "Aktara".
Application in landscape design
Rose Blanc Meillandécor looks great when planted alone. The bush produces a lot of pure white flowers; they contrast well with the green lawn or hedge background. Roses can also be used in different compositions.
It is worth considering that the bush is not so high as it is wide.Its branches spread out well, so it is necessary to leave 1-1.5 m around the hole so as not to interfere with other crops.
