Herbicide Ballerina is an effective drug that has a systemic effect. Its peculiarity is that the product can be used to destroy weeds after germination of the main crop. In order for the use of this drug to be as effective as possible, it is necessary to take into account the manufacturer’s recommendations and follow the dosages specified in the instructions.
Composition and release form of the herbicide Ballerina
This drug is available in the form of a suspension emulsion. It goes on sale in 100 ml plastic bottles, 1 liter bottles and 5 liter canisters. This allows you to select the optimal dosage of the product, depending on the area of the main crop.
The manufacturer of this herbicide is the company "August", specializing in the creation and sale of plant protection products.
The drug is intended to combat annual dicotyledonous and perennial root shoot weeds.
It can be used on crops:
- spring and winter wheat;
- corn;
- millet;
- sorghum;
- oats.
Types and principle of operation
There are three types of this remedy. They have differences in composition that must be taken into account when choosing. This will allow you to select the most optimal herbicide option, depending on the degree of infestation of the area.
Herbicide Ballerina
This is a classic type of drug that is effective against annual dicotyledonous weeds, even those resistant to 2,4-D and MCPA. Also, the use of this product is justified against some perennials in planting grain crops.
The drug contains: 2,4 D or 2-ethylhexyl ether, florasulam. The concentration of the first is 410 g per liter. Its function: disruption of photosynthesis, activation of the breakdown of vital components. This leads to loss of turgor, disruption of water metabolism at the cellular level, and wilting of the weed. And the concentration of the second component is 7.4 g per liter. Florasulam ensures the permeability of the working solution into the leaves, roots and shoots of the plant. It inhibits acetolactate synthase.
After treatment, the drug penetrates the plant tissue within an hour, and after 24 hours it blocks cell growth. The result of the action is noticeable within 3-4 days. And the weeds die completely after 3-4 weeks.
Herbicide Ballerina Super
This drug, like the previous one, contains two active components: 2,4 D (2-ethylhexyl ether) and florasulam.But the difference from the classic version of Ballerina is that the concentration of the second substance in the product is doubled and amounts to 15 g/l.
Thanks to this, the penetration process of the working solution is accelerated. Weed development slows down after 12 hours, and visible results become noticeable on the third day. The grasses die completely after applying the herbicide Ballerina Super after 2-3 weeks, depending on weather conditions.
Herbicide Ballerina Mix
This is a three-component drug. The composition of the herbicide Ballerina Mix includes: 2-ethylhexyl ester of 2,4-D acid, 410 g/l, florasulam, 7.4 g/l and tribenuron-methyl, 750 g/kg. This provides a quick effect and long-lasting protective result. An additional component, which is missing in the two previous versions of the drug, enhances the effect of florasulam.
The growth of treated weeds stops after a day. The visible result of the herbicide becomes apparent after two days. And after two weeks the weeds die completely.
Advantages and disadvantages
This drug has many advantages, which sets it apart from many other drugs of similar action. But it also has certain disadvantages that need to be taken into account.
Main advantages of the drug:
- effective at +5 °C;
- eliminates the possibility of resistance;
- does not harm main crops;
- Can be used without restricting crop rotation;
- high performance;
- economical consumption;
- affordable price.
Flaws:
- when frozen, it loses its properties;
- requires increased precautions.
How to prepare a working solution
Before using the drug for its intended purpose, it must be diluted with water. To do this, you must first thoroughly wash the spray tank, tip and tubes. The working fluid can only be prepared using clean water.
Procedure:
- Fill the spray tank with ½ of the required volume of liquid.
- Add herbicide and mix.
- Add the remaining water.

Treatment during this period is recommended for the growth of tenacious bedstraw. And also if it was not possible to spray the crops earlier due to weather conditions.
The consumption rate for spring, winter wheat and barley is 30-50 liters per hundred square meters. Treatment can be carried out once during the season. The waiting period is 53 days.
Corn
When using this drug on corn crops, it is necessary to spray the plants in the phase of 3-5 leaves of the main crop.The permissible consumption rate of working fluid with a concentration of 0.3-0.5% is 3-5 liters per hundred square meters, depending on the degree of contamination of the area. The harvest period is two months. The permissible number of treatments during the season is one.
Millet
