Tomatoes grown in open ground or in a greenhouse need protection from diseases and pests. Today you can purchase any fungicidal preparations for foliar treatment. One of them is called Hom. It contains copper oxychloride.
This drug can be used to treat any garden crops. The use of Hom fertilizer for feeding tomatoes allows you to protect plants from many fungal diseases, including late blight and anthracnose. Its protective properties are similar in many respects to Bordeaux mixture.
Description
Hom fertilizer for processing tomatoes is a green powdery preparation. When dissolved, it does not produce sediment. The packaging can be small - 20, 40 grams for use in personal gardens and summer cottages. For large agricultural producers, the preparation for processing tomatoes is packaged in cardboard boxes of 10 or 15 kg.
The main component of the biologically active substance is copper oxychloride (approximately 90%). Contacting the leaf blade of tomatoes, it covers them with a light film, preventing infection from penetrating deep into the tissues.

Instructions
The preparation Hom is intended for spraying tomatoes. For work in open ground and greenhouses, choose a windless day without rain. It is necessary to process the tomatoes from bottom to top, without missing a single leaf plate.
Breeding rules:
- Pour in some warm water (if the water is from a tap, it needs to be left to allow the chlorine to come out) and add 40 grams of Hom powder. The composition must be stirred until it is completely dissolved. Metal containers should not be used to dilute the drug Hom. Copper oxychloride, in contact with iron, causes corrosion.
- Add volume to 10 liters.
The resulting solution is used immediately; it is enough for foliar feeding and protection against fungal diseases per 100 square meters of plantings.
Treatment is carried out 4 times during the growing season, every 5 days. Although the properties of the drug Hom are similar to Bordeaux mixture, its effect is reduced due to rapid rinsing.
Protective properties of the drug
Many gardeners, especially beginners, are interested in how Hom fertilizer works on tomatoes. Copper oxychloride is able to penetrate fungal cells: late blight, anthracnose, blight. First, it neutralizes their harmful effects, then leads to death. After a while, the disease recedes.
The effectiveness of the drug is one hundred percent.
The most interesting thing is that while destroying harmful bacteria at the cellular level on the green mass of plants, Hom fertilizer does not penetrate into tomato cells. All these processes take place on the leaves and trunks of the plant. It does not remain in the soil, because after 6 months it breaks down into components that do not harm either humans or plants.
Precautionary measures
The danger of the drug Hom for humans and animals is moderate, since it belongs to hazard class 3.
This you need to know:
- Before spraying tomatoes with a fungicide solution, care must be taken to protect the mucous membranes of the nose, eyes, and mouth. Work is carried out in closed clothing. Protect your eyes with goggles and your face with a mask or respirator. Gloves are put on your hands.
- While treating plants with Hom, you should not smoke or eat food.
- Non-food containers are used to dilute the pesticide.
- The drug should not get into sources or animal food.
- Upon completion of the hand work, the face is thoroughly washed with water and detergents.
Before the doctor arrives
If during work the drug does come into contact with the skin or eyes, you should seek help from a doctor. But first aid must be provided immediately:
- Rinse body parts with plenty of water.
- If the skin begins to itch, do not rub it.
- If Hom gets into the respiratory tract, you need to go out into the air. Drink several tablets of activated carbon with plenty of water (up to 10 glasses!).
How to store fungicide
Store in dark, dry places inaccessible to children and animals, observing the temperature range from -5 to +30 degrees, separately from food products, animal feed and medicines.
