Tomato Boni M: reviews, photos, yield

Among the new achievements of Russian breeders, it is worth mentioning the Boni MM tomato variety. The plant organically combines those advantages because of which gardeners include it in the list of mandatory varieties for planting on their plots. This is a real explosion of quality: ultra-early, unpretentious, low-growing and tasty. Perhaps the excellent variety of tomatoes was named by analogy with the perfection of the style of the legendary disco band. By the way, on sale, in various descriptions or reviews, this plant is also called tomato Boni M. But you need to know that we are talking about the same variety of tomatoes, which has been included in the State Register for several years.

Description of the variety

Boni MM tomatoes belong to the group of determinate plants. The bush of these tomatoes grows until the inflorescence develops. Usually the first cluster of fruit is formed above the sixth or seventh leaf of the stem. From now on, the plant has a different task - to supply all the elements to the flowers, and later to the ovaries, which very quickly turn into bright red fruits, alluring with their fresh, indescribable taste. The height of the tomato variety Boni M reaches 40-50 centimeters. Only with an excess mass of nutrient medium or on oily natural soil can a bush stretch up to 60 centimeters.Thanks to these properties of the plant, it is widely used by gardeners as a sealer between tall varieties of tomatoes.

Boni MM tomato bushes are standard, erect, with an average number of branches and dark green small leaves on a strong stem of moderate thickness. After the first inflorescence, others may appear on the plant - they are not separated by leaves. The stalk has joints.

The fruits are red, round, flat, and sometimes slightly ribbed. There are two or three small seed chambers inside. The Boni MM tomato berry weighs 50-70 g. There are reviews with greater variability in the weight of the fruits of this variety: 40-100 g. One tomato plant can produce up to two kilograms of healthy vegetables. From bushes located on 1 square. m, they collect 5-6.5 kg of tasty fruits. The juicy berries of this tomato have a pleasant, rich taste, which is distinguished by the expected sourness and sweetness of the first vegetables.

Thanks to the dense, fleshy pulp and elastic skin, the fruits remain picked for some time and can withstand transportation well.

Interesting! This variety of tomatoes is suitable for growing on balconies.

Characteristics

The Boni M tomato variety has become popular due to a number of distinctive features. Their characteristics are only positive.

  • Very early ripening: fruiting occurs 80-85 days after emergence. This allows the plant to avoid infection with late blight, and makes it easier for the gardener to care for;
  • Ripeness comes together in most fruits on the hand. In almost two weeks, a tomato bush of this variety yields its entire harvest, which allows the bed to be further used for other crops;
  • Low bushes allow the gardener to relax with this variety: the plant does not need to be pinched or tied up. Although, with proper care, the tomato harvest makes it necessary to make a support for the overloaded bush of a low plant;
  • Boni M tomatoes were recommended by the authors of the variety as plant for open ground, but they grow well both in greenhouse beds and in ordinary film shelters. In the northern regions, the variety has become one of the favorite vegetable plants;
  • The unsurpassed feature of these tomatoes is unpretentiousness and resistance to pathogens of fungal infections. Even in rather poor soil and in cool, rainy weather, the yield of their bushes does not fail;
  • Transportability and keeping quality allow you to grow Boni M tomatoes as a commercial variety.
Advice! Tomatoes, sown in early May under shelters, are planted in holes in early June, diving at the same time.

Growing stages

The timing of sowing Boni M tomato seeds for seedlings depends on when the gardener plans to harvest the useful fruits.

  • If you dream of enjoying your own grown tomato berries in June, from the beginning of March you sow the seeds in seedling boxes;
  • Residents of the northern regions begin growing tomato seedlings of this variety at the end of March. Then the time for planting young plants under film shelters will be in the warm season without frost;
  • In the middle climate zone, it is recommended to construct film shelters over the area where these tomatoes are sown. They sow earlier, in the third ten days of April and the first ten days of May, when the soil has already warmed up. When the third leaf appears on the plants, the films can be removed, but with the possibility of installing them again in the event of a likely low morning temperature;
  • In warmer areas, according to the reviews of those gardeners who planted the Boni MM tomato, they simply sow the seeds in the beds in mid-May, when the threat of frost subsides. In early August, plants of the early-ripening variety are already bearing fruit in open ground.
Attention! Tomatoes of the Boni M variety peak in the phase of the first true leaves.

Transplanting

When the sprouts reach the age of 30-35 days, they begin to accustom them to fresh air by placing the picked tomatoes in the shade. If the seedlings are already hardened, they are transferred to open ground.

  • Tomato Boni M is planted in rows with a distance of 50 cm between holes. 30-40 cm are left in the aisles. 7-9 bushes of this variety grow per square meter;
  • Choose a site for tomatoes that is sunny and open to air flow. The homeland of tomatoes is South America, so the plant is ready to stay in the sun all day;
  • The soil for tomatoes cannot be fertilized with fresh organic matter; it is better to add it on the eve of the season, in the fall. If such fertilizing has not been carried out, the soil is filled with humus.

Plant care

Tomatoes planted in a permanent location with an open root system must be watered frequently for the first week to keep the soil moist. Plants will take root faster. Seedlings in pots also require increased soil moisture - the containers will decompose faster, and the roots will go beyond them in search of new nutrients.

After fifteen days, the stronger tomatoes are fed with special complex fertilizers along with watering, which is now carried out less frequently - twice a week. As soon as the soil dries, it is carefully loosened. In dry weather, plantings should be mulched.

Boni MM tomato bushes do not take stepson, but you need to pick off the leaves that grow from below.There are recommendations for this process: only one leaf of the plant is removed each day to avoid the stress of mass plucking. The fruits will thus receive more nutrition. The top leaves are enough for the plant to carry out photosynthesis.

Secrets of gardeners

Experienced gardeners have their own interesting tricks for increasing the yield of tomatoes and growing them successfully:

  • After the first abundant watering, the plants are lightly earthed up. This technique allows the seedling to form new roots, which helps strengthen the young bush;
  • Although the bush of this variety is strong, still during the ripening period, if the clusters are full of fruits, you need to cover the soil well with a thick layer of mulch. There are two goals here: the bed does not dry out; the fruits, even drooping down with an overloaded brush, will remain clean;
  • They get a super early harvest, almost 5-6 days earlier than the agreed upon date, by splitting the plant stem. Using a sharp knife, the bottom of the stem is cut lengthwise, then a stick is inserted into the hole, which prevents the stem from growing together. Stress forces the bush to devote all its strength to the formation of fruits.
  • They also regulate the size of the fruits, cutting off the smallest ones that are at the end of the cluster. The classic technique recommends picking brown tomato berries from the first bunch for ripening, so that the fruits on the next ones will be larger and more uniform.

Having once planted powerful and compact tomato bushes of this variety, gardeners usually never part with them.

I plant several recommended varieties of tomatoes in the greenhouse. Last year I tried Boni MM tomatoes for the first time. They differed from other sprouts even at the seedling stage: low and strong. A good early ripening variety, so the fruits are small. I liked the yield.It is definitely registered in my greenhouse for now.

We planted Boni MM tomatoes from purchased seedlings in open ground. There were already flowers on the plants. At the end of June the fruits were collected. We enjoyed them with pleasure - the first ones, sweet and sour. I’ll try to grow it with my own seeds, even though there are almost no seeds in the pulp.

Boni M variety is fast. We collect in the greenhouse in June. There are a lot of tomatoes, small, but early. When the rest ripen, these plants are already harvested. We've been gardening for several years now. And the first year they fed it after the first harvest, and in September the same bushes gave a harvest.
