Resistance to adverse factors

Tomato Banana orange is resistant to cladosporiosis, late blight and fusarium wilt.

The bushes do not tolerate frost well, so in cold regions, the variety is suitable exclusively for growing in greenhouse conditions.

Growing regions

The variety is intended for cultivation in the middle zone: in the North Caucasus, in the Middle Vyatka region, in the north, west and central part of the country. Suitable especially for growing in greenhouses. When grown in a garden, even in the south of the country, the yield of orange Banana is significantly reduced.

Purpose and application

Tomatoes are suitable for fresh consumption and canning. Due to their small size, tomatoes can be pickled whole. Thanks to their juiciness, they produce high-quality juice, tasty sauce and paste.

Important! After heat treatment, the taste and beneficial properties remain virtually unchanged.

Orange banana tomatoes boast a high content of beta-carotene - up to 4% by weight of dry material. Therefore, they can be used not only as a decoration for dishes, but also included in children's diet food.

Advantages and disadvantages

Among the main advantages of orange banana tomatoes, they include not only their original taste.

Tomato roots are powerful, so bushes must be planted in a permanent place carefully so as not to damage them

Pros:

  • original color;
  • excellent taste;
  • keeping quality and transportability;
  • good immunity;
  • long fruiting period.

Minuses:

  • the need to form a bush with mandatory tying to a support;
  • the need for regular stepsoning.

When and how to plant

You should expect a high yield in your garden only in hot summers. To obtain seedlings, seeds are sown in containers from February to March.

Attention! If tomato seedlings are immediately planted in peat tablets, then when transplanting into a greenhouse you will not have to do any picking.

Before planting tomato seeds, they must be prepared:

  • warm up at +30 °C for 48 hours;
  • then at +50 °C – 72 hours;
  • soak in 1% potassium parchment for 30 minutes (optional procedure), then rinse under running water.

After sowing, containers with tomatoes are covered with film to maintain soil moisture at the same level.

Until the first shoots appear, the room temperature should not fall below +23 °C

After the sprouts appear, the film cover is removed. The temperature is reduced to +10-15 °C during the daytime, and at night - to +8-10 OWITH.This is a kind of hardening of growing bushes, which should last at least 15 days in a row. Watering is carried out moderately, jet.

Young seedlings can be transferred to the greenhouse in May, and to the garden in June. The seedlings must reach an age of at least 50-65 days.

In open ground, the planting pattern is 40x60 cm. In the greenhouse - 50x60 cm.

Planting is carried out in a checkerboard pattern

The bushes are planted in the hole a little deeper than they were in the greenhouse. It is recommended to tear off a few of the lower leaves. The root system is carefully pressed down with earth, after which it is sprinkled with a little soil, watered, and dry soil is thrown on top.

Features of care

Orange banana tomatoes require shaping, tying and pinching, but they do not require pinching.

Tomatoes require regular watering. It is best to moisturize in the evening, when there is no scorching sun. Water is applied directly under the bush. In summer, watering is carried out at least once a week, when the temperature drops, the number of waterings is also reduced. Be sure to loosen the soil between the rows of orange banana tomato bushes after each irrigation.

To obtain the maximum amount of harvest, 1-2 stems are formed. The supports are installed immediately and the stems are tied up. Stepchildren are removed every 10 days.

Fertilizer for tomatoes is applied two weeks after planting in the garden or greenhouse. Mineral compounds and organic matter (bird droppings or compost) are suitable for these purposes.

During the growing season, three more feedings are carried out for the tomato bush

Attention! Tomatoes love calcium, so after transplanting to a permanent location, it is recommended to add crushed eggshells.

Ideal predecessor crops: cabbage, carrots, onions, cucumbers and legumes.Tomatoes prefer highly fertile soils that are light and slightly acidic. It is recommended to prepare beds for spring planting of tomatoes in the fall. After digging, humus is added to the ground. If the soil is acidic, you will need to add charcoal.

Important! In order for the tomato variety to bear fruit well, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are added to the soil in the fall. Tomatoes have a particularly good reaction to potassium nitrate with nitrogen.

If it is not possible to use a ready-made soil mixture, you can make it yourself.

Sand, humus and a little wood ash are added to the fertile soil.

Prevention of diseases and pests

The orange banana has good immunity, however, for preventive purposes against late blight, spraying with copper sulfate is recommended. Gardeners from cool regions often encounter this problem.

Greenhouses often lack light and lack good ventilation; these risks must be taken into account

During flowering, in order to prevent the appearance of aphids, it is recommended to treat tomato bushes with decoctions of herbs that have a pungent odor and are endowed with a bitter taste: yarrow, wormwood and celandine. It’s easy to prepare the product; just make 1 liter of infusion of one of the herbs and dilute it with 10 liters of water.

You can add 40 g of crushed laundry soap to the herbal infusion, after which the bushes are immediately sprayed

Conclusion

Orange Banana tomato is a universal table variety. Tomatoes have good immunity and are easy to care for. The fruits are small in size, elongated, original orange in color. Due to the high content of vitamins and nutrients, they are recommended for fresh consumption, for preparing preserves and juices.

Reviews from gardeners about Orange Banana tomatoes

Inna Zaidova, Perm
I can’t say that the variety’s yield was impressive; I managed to harvest no more than 3 kg from one bush. But I and my family really like the taste. I liked the canned tomatoes; despite their thin skin, they don’t burst. Another plus is that the fruits can be left on the window to ripen.
Mikhail Kolomiychuk, Stavropol
Last year's experience with growing this variety was not entirely successful. I grew it in a greenhouse, probably due to frequent watering and poor ventilation, the tomatoes ripened too watery and bland. This year I took into account all my mistakes and got a good harvest. I liked the taste of orange banana.Dina Brukhno, Barnaul

I really like this Banana Yellow variety. I grow them whole in a greenhouse for canning. Over the course of three years of growing, I never encountered any difficulties. The only thing is that you have to tie it up several times a season. Otherwise no diseases or insects.
