Advantages and disadvantages

Some gardeners believe that the Sprint timer first appeared in Ukraine

Pros:

  • high productivity;
  • appetizing aroma;
  • a large amount of pulp;
  • few seeds;
  • does not require much care;
  • large tomatoes.

Minuses:

  • carrying out stepsoning;
  • need for garter;
  • in open ground the fruits are smaller.

Features of cultivation

Before sowing, the seeds are soaked in water with wood ash. For one liter put 1 tbsp. l. substances. The solution with the seeds is left for seven hours so that they are well saturated. After the samples swell, they are kept in potassium permanganate. The procedure takes about 20 minutes.

The planting material is washed in clean water and sent to the refrigerator for several days. This will allow future tomatoes to quickly adapt to the cold.

To disinfect the soil, it is placed in the oven. Set the temperature to 150 °C. They are calcined thoroughly, this is necessary to destroy harmful microorganisms.

The planting container is filled with soil, leaving 4 cm of free space from the walls.

Furrows are made in the ground and seeds are sown in them. A distance of 10 mm is maintained between the samples, deepened into the soil by 1 cm. After work, the soil is moistened with warm water, the container is covered with film and placed in a warm place.

After two months of cultivation, the seedlings are transplanted to an open area or to a greenhouse. There can be no more than four plants per square meter.The pit is prepared approximately 60 days before planting. The soil is dug up, compost and potassium permanganate are added. It is necessary to mix the soil thoroughly.

You can install supports for gartering tomatoes in advance; they will come in handy in any case.

The sprint timer is moistened approximately once every seven days. The frequency of watering depends on temperature conditions and the amount of precipitation. In warm weather, water twice a week, in summer - three times. When grown in the southern regions, tomatoes are moistened almost every day.

In spring and summer, the crop needs to be loosened and hilled up. This is necessary for normal penetration of moisture to the roots. This will allow the top layers of soil to dry out longer. Sprint Timer can be mulched; black fiber can be used.

Botanists recommend digging holes measuring 50x40 cm for Sprint tomatoes.

Advice! In one season, tomatoes are fertilized up to three times with mineral additives. They wait about half a month between feedings.

The first additive is applied 2-3 weeks after planting in open ground or a greenhouse. Use urea (100 g of substance per 10 liters of clean liquid) or ammonium nitrate. The latter is sold ready-made. The second time, the soil is fertilized with superphosphate (100 g per 3 liters of liquid), and the third time with potassium sulfate.

Pest and disease control

Whiteflies can be controlled with the help of Confidor. The insect is common in the southern regions, but can also appear in a greenhouse. The drug Gnome works best for mole crickets. For prevention, it is recommended to periodically weed the soil near the bush. A folk remedy that helps in the fight against slugs is a mixture of dry mustard and red pepper. A tablespoon is enough for four bushes.

Late blight is treated with Fitosporin, HOM, Gold or Ridomil

To prevent the spread of fungus in open ground, adhere to agrotechnical rules:

  • the site must be open to the sun, groundwater is deep;
  • Watering is carried out in the evening, poured directly under the stem;
  • with frequent precipitation, moisturize less frequently;
  • before planting, add three tablespoons of sand to each hole;
  • to increase acidity, peat is used;
  • to reduce acidity, use slaked lime;
  • The area is regularly weeded.
Advice! If the garden is small, and other crops (onions, potatoes, beets, cucumbers) have been growing in place of tomatoes for a long time, it is better to wait until the soil gains strength.

It is advisable to water Sprint Timer tomatoes with water without chlorine; for this, use a fine-mesh sieve or a special nozzle

Conclusion

The Sprint Timer tomato is distinguished by its high taste and productivity. The variety requires almost no care. The owner will have to moisten the soil 2-3 times a week, plant the stepson, organize a support with garters and loosen the soil from time to time.

Reviews from gardeners about the Sprint timer tomato variety

Elena Guskova, Moscow
I got acquainted with the Sprint Timer variety by a happy accident; a friend shared the seeds. The harvest is good, the taste is very sweet - a real find for me. The tomatoes are large, I even weighed them out of curiosity - one is about 836 g. Now this plant is my favorite.
Ekaterina Markina, Kazan
Sprint timer, like other tomatoes, needs constant care. If you neglect something, it will definitely affect the growth of the fruit. I have a large vegetable garden, one might say I have organized a plantation. I spend a lot of time and effort, spending seven hours a day on tomatoes alone. And I have other cultures. Due to the large size they sell well.
Alsou Kireeva, Kuznetsk
There is nowhere to put the fruits. Sprint timer. Why I dropped her off - I don’t know. Very large tomatoes. There are 12 bushes, and the harvest is enough for three families. There is no one to sell it to, so I try to eat it so that food doesn’t go to waste. For variety, I freeze, dry, bake. I make tomato juice for my husband, but I don’t like it myself.
