Cucumber Tufted splendor F1

Cucumber is one of the most popular vegetable crops. It is grown by novice gardeners and experienced farmers. You can find a cucumber in a greenhouse, greenhouse, open garden bed, and even on a balcony or window sill. There are a huge number of cucumber varieties, but it can be quite difficult to navigate and choose the best one from them. At the same time, some varieties combine such important indicators for the crop as high yield and excellent taste of cucumber. Such varieties can safely be called the best. Among them, undoubtedly, should be included the cucumber “Beam splendor f1”.

Beam splendor f1

Description

Like any hybrid, “Beam Splendor f1” was obtained by crossing two varietal cucumbers endowed with certain qualities. This allowed breeders to develop a first-generation hybrid with amazing productivity, which reaches 40 kg per 1 m2 land. Such a high yield was achieved thanks to the tufted ovary and parthenocarpicity of the cucumber. Thus, from 3 to 7 ovaries can be formed simultaneously in one bunch. All of them are fruit-bearing, female type. To pollinate flowers, cucumbers do not require the participation of insects or humans.

The variety “Puchkovoe splendor f1” is the brainchild of a Ural agricultural company and is adapted for cultivation in the climatic conditions of the Urals and Siberia. Open and protected soils and tunnels are suitable for cultivating cucumbers. At the same time, the crop is particularly demanding in terms of watering, fertilizing, loosening, and weeding. In order for a cucumber of this variety to be able to fully bear fruit, in the required volume with timely ripening of the fruit, a cucumber bush should be formed.

Cucumbers of the “Puchkovoe splendor f1” variety belong to the category of gherkins. Their length does not exceed 11 cm. The shape of the cucumbers is smooth, cylindrical. Shallow tubercles can be observed on their surface; the tops of the cucumbers are narrowed. The color of the fruit is light green, with small light stripes along the cucumber. The thorns of the cucumber are white.

The taste of cucumbers of the “Puchkovoe splendor f1” variety is very high. They do not contain bitterness, their fresh aroma is pronounced. The pulp of the cucumber is dense, tender, juicy, and has an amazing, sweetish taste. The crunch of the vegetable remains even after heat treatment, canning, and salting.

Benefits of cucumbers

In addition to high yield, excellent taste of cucumbers and self-pollination, the “Puchkovoe splendor f1” variety, compared to other varieties, has a number of advantages:

  • excellent tolerance to sudden temperature changes;
  • cold resistance;
  • Suitable for growing in low-lying areas with frequent fog formation;
  • resistance to common cucumber diseases (powdery mildew, cucumber mosaic virus, brown spot);
  • long period of fruiting, right up to autumn frosts;
  • harvesting fruits in the amount of 400 cucumbers from one bush per season.

Having cited the advantages of the cucumber variety, it is worth mentioning its disadvantages, which include the plant’s demanding care and the relatively high cost of the seeds (a package of 5 seeds costs about 90 rubles).

Growing stages

The given bunch variety of cucumbers is early ripening, its fruits ripen in 45-50 days from the day the seeds are sown in the ground. In order to bring the harvest as close as possible, the seeds are germinated before sowing.

Seed germination

Before germinating cucumber seeds, they must be disinfected. Harmful microorganisms can be removed from the surface of the seed using a manganese or saline solution by short soaking (seeds are placed in the solution for 20-30 minutes).

After processing, cucumber seeds are ready for germination. To do this, they are laid out between two pieces of damp cloth, the nursery is placed in a plastic bag and left in a warm place (ideal temperature 270WITH). After 2-3 days, sprouts can be observed on the seeds.

Sowing seeds for seedlings

To sow seeds for seedlings, it is better to use peat pots or peat tablets. There will be no need to remove the plant from them, since peat decomposes well in the ground and serves as a fertilizer. In the absence of special containers, small containers can be used to grow cucumber seedlings.

The prepared containers must be filled with soil. To do this, you can use a ready-made soil mixture or make it yourself. The composition of the soil for growing cucumber seedlings should include: soil, humus, mineral fertilizers, lime.

In containers filled with soil, the seeds of the “Beam Splendor f1” cucumber are embedded 1-2 cm deep, after which they are watered generously with warm boiled water and covered with protective glass or film. The seedlings are placed in a warm place until they emerge. At the first appearance of cotyledon leaves, the containers are freed from the protective film (glass) and placed in a lighted place with a temperature of 22-23 0WITH.

Caring for seedlings involves regular watering and spraying. When two full leaves appear, the cucumber can be planted in the ground.

Important! The variety “Beam splendor f1” can be sown in the ground directly from seed, without first growing seedlings. In this case, the fruiting period will begin 2 weeks later.

Planting seedlings in the ground

To pick seedlings, you need to make holes and moisten them in advance. Cucumbers in peat containers are immersed in the ground along with them. The plant is removed from other containers while maintaining the earthen lump on the root. After placing the root system in the hole, it is covered with earth and compacted.

Important! It is best to plant cucumber seedlings in the evening, after sunset.

It is necessary to plant cucumbers of the “Beam splendor f1” variety with a frequency of no more than 2 bushes per 1 m2 soil. After diving into the ground, the cucumbers must be watered daily; subsequently, the plants are watered as needed once a day or once every 2 days.

Bush formation

“Bunch splendor f1” is a vigorously growing crop, so it must be formed into one stem. This will improve lighting and nutrition of the ovaries. Forming a cucumber of this variety involves two steps:

  • starting from the root, in the first 3-4 axils, side shoots and emerging ovaries should be removed;
  • all side shoots located on the main vine are removed during the entire growth of the plant.

You can see the process of forming cucumbers into one stem in the video:

Feeding an adult plant, harvesting

It is recommended to fertilize an adult cucumber with nitrogen-containing and mineral fertilizers. They are applied every 2 weeks until the end of the fruiting period. The first complementary feeding must be done at the initial stage of ovary formation. Applying fertilizers after harvesting the first harvest will promote the formation of new ovaries in the “spent” sinuses. Each application of fertilizers should be accompanied by abundant watering.

Timely harvesting of ripe cucumbers allows you to accelerate the ripening of younger fruits, thereby increasing the yield of the plant. So, picking cucumbers should be done at least once every 2 days.

“Puchkovoe splendor f1” is a unique variety of cucumbers that is capable of producing a huge harvest with an amazing vegetable taste. It is adapted to harsh climatic conditions and allows residents of Siberia and the Urals to enjoy amazing harvests. By following the simple rules for forming a bush and providing regular fertilizing, even a novice gardener will be able to get a huge harvest of cucumbers of this variety.

On the advice of a friend, this year I planted the “Beam Splendor” variety in a greenhouse. I grew seedlings at home and only dived into the ground at the end of May. The harvest appeared quite quickly after planting, its volume pleasantly surprised me.This variety of cucumber takes up little space, but at the same time bears fruit very abundantly, which is very good for greenhouse conditions. I have taken note of this bunch variety for the future.
