Chicken manure for fertilizing cucumbers in a greenhouse

An important point in fertilizing vegetable crops is their use as feeding chicken manure For cucumbers in a greenhouse. This is an excellent way to activate biological processes in the soil and provide plants with valuable substances.

Natural fast-acting remedy

Cucumbers growing in a greenhouse need to be fed several times throughout the growing season. In this case, you must be extremely careful and careful not to overfeed the plants and not disrupt their growth. Cucumbers do not like large amounts of chemical and organic fertilizers. They need to be applied in small doses and within strictly defined periods.

Among the variety of types of poultry manure used in greenhouses, chicken manure comes first. Even though the droppings have a number of disadvantages (high toxicity, unpleasant odor, inability to be used fresh), it can be called a real storehouse of useful substances so necessary for the normal growth of plants. It contains a large amount of potassium, magnesium, and nitrogen. And the amount of phosphorus in manure is 3 times higher than any other type of manure.

Thanks to its use, vegetable growers are able to obtain large yields of all crops grown.

It is also very important that beneficial substances from the droppings are released gradually, slowly being absorbed into the soil and maintaining their “influence” on it for 2-3 years. This effect cannot be achieved from any type of fertilizer.

When growing cucumbers, the first application of fertilizing is carried out before the plants flower at the 2-3 leaf stage. The next feeding can be done no earlier than after 14 days. It should contain chicken droppings, which will stimulate the growth of the plant and activate the formation of ovaries. A properly prepared mixture will reduce the number of barren flowers to a minimum.

Important! It is not recommended to use fresh droppings, otherwise you can cause serious damage to the root system of plants. This is due to the large amount of uric acids in manure.

In fresh form, it is used to make a liquid mixture at the rate of 1 part of manure (1 kg) per 20 liters of water. The resulting solution is aged for 10 days and is used to water the rows. This solution should not be poured under the roots. Fertilizing is applied only after abundant watering. During work, care must be taken so that the mixture does not fall on the leaves of the cucumbers. If this does happen, then it must be washed off.

One of the options for preparing good fertilizer is preparing compost. In addition to droppings, you will need peat, straw or sawdust. The ingredients are stacked in layers. Each layer should not be higher than 20-30 cm. To speed up the compost preparation process, the resulting mound can be covered with plastic wrap. This will ensure an increase in temperature and eliminate the unpleasant odor.

This method makes it possible to prepare high-quality material for fertilizing cucumbers and other plants in greenhouses.

An infusion of rotted chicken manure is very popular among vegetable growers, as it gives quick results. It's easy to prepare. Rotted manure is filled with water, mixed and left for 2-3 days. The mixture that will be used to water the cucumbers should have the color of weak tea. If the solution turns out to be more saturated, then you just need to dilute it with water.

Industrial product

If it is not possible to get a fresh waste product of chickens, then to feed cucumbers you can use a ready-made fraction, which is easy to find in specialized retail outlets. This is natural chicken manure, hot-dried while preserving all its beneficial properties. Most often it is presented in granular form, which makes transportation and use easier.

Unlike fresh products, this product does not contain harmful microorganisms, seeds weed and parasite larvae. It has an unchanged composition. Industrially processed chicken manure can be used not only for feeding adult plants, but also for soaking their seeds.

The granules are placed in a container and filled to the top with water. The mixture is left to ferment for 14 days. Before use, the resulting concentrated solution is diluted in a ratio of 1:20.

It should be borne in mind that chicken manure in its pure form is not able to fully provide cucumbers with nutrients. To achieve good results, it is necessary to properly combine mineral and natural components in the mixture used to fertilize plants in the greenhouse.
