Psilocybe bohemian is a member of the Hymenogasteraceae family, genus Psilocybe. It was described in the Czech Republic, which is how it got its name. This specimen is considered an inedible and hallucinogenic mushroom, the consumption of which can lead to hallucinations and serious health problems.
Description of Czech psilocybe
This type consists of a thin stem and a small cap. The flesh of the mushroom is cream or light ocher in color and turns bluish when damaged. Astringent to taste.
Description of the cap
In young specimens, the cap is bell-shaped; over time, it changes its shape to prostrate, but with a small central convexity.Its size varies from 1.5 to 4 cm. The surface of the cap is bare, pale ocher or cream in color. When damaged it begins to turn blue. The hymenophore is tubular, ocher in color. The spores are ovoid, smooth, and medium in size. Spore powder is gray-lilac in color.
Description of the leg
Young specimens have a creamy, dense stem that gradually becomes tubular, slightly wavy with a bluish tint. This species has a fibrous and thin leg. The thickness is about 2 mm, and the length is 4-10 cm.
Where and how does it grow
Psilocybe Bohemian lives in European coniferous or deciduous forests, but is also found quite often in other places with temperate climates. Active fruiting occurs in September-October. Grows on rotten branches of coniferous and deciduous trees. In most cases it grows in groups.
Is the mushroom edible or not?
Psilocybe Bohemian is an inedible and poisonous specimen. Use as food often leads to the development of serious hallucinations.
The effect of Czech psilocybe on the body
This poisonous mushroom contains a hallucinogenic substance called psilocybin, which causes a condition similar to schizophrenia. Already 30 minutes after consuming psilocybe, a Czech person can feel the first signs of a narcotic effect:
- chills;
- paranoia;
- the appearance of tachycardia;
- increased body temperature;
- hallucinations;
- distortion of space and time;
- visual visions.
Doubles and their differences
- Psilocybe is mysterious. Belongs to the category of poisonous mushrooms. It can be distinguished from the species in question by the harder body of the double. In addition, the cap of the latter is yellowish-greenish in color, and the plates are frequent and descending onto the stem.
- Psilocybe Montana- a small mushroom with strong hallucinogenic properties. The cap of this species reaches a diameter of up to 2.5 cm, and its shape is a hemisphere with a noticeable central tubercle, which makes it distinguishable from Czech psilocybe.
- Psilocybe cubenis - hallucinogenic mushroom. The fruiting bodies are much larger than the specimen in question. Thus, its cap can reach up to 8 cm in diameter, and its leg can reach up to 15 cm in height. In addition, it can be distinguished from Czech psilocybe by its almost transparent flesh and the remains of a private veil, which turns black with age.
Conclusion
Despite its modest size, Czech psilocybe can cause enormous harm to the physical, and especially the mental, state of a person. Psilocin, which is part of it, can cause psychological dependence, and at the same time has a negative effect on the body: with constant eating, brain cells atrophy, which leads to degradation of intelligence.
