Cobweb plant (Cortinarius delibutus) is a conditionally edible plate-like specimen of the genus Cobweb plant. Because of the mucous surface of the cap, it received another name - greased cobweb.

Description of the anointed cobweb

Belongs to the class Agaricomycetes. Elias Magnus Fries, a Swedish botanist and mycologist, classified this mushroom in 1938.

It has a yellowish color and is covered with mucus.

Description of the cap

The size of the cap is up to 9 cm in diameter. The surface is flat-convex, mucous. Has various shades of yellow. The plates are small, closely adherent. As it grows, it changes color from bluish-violet to beige.

The spores are reddish, spherical, warty.

The pulp is quite dense. When ripe, the color changes from purple to yellow. Does not have a characteristic mushroom smell or taste.

This specimen is found both in groups and individually

Description of the leg

The leg is cylindrical, quite long, reaches 10 cm. Closer to the base it is thickened, yellow or whitish in color.

The stem near the cap has a bluish tint and is slippery to the touch.

Where and how does it grow

This specimen grows in coniferous and mixed forests. It can be found in the northwestern and northern regions of Russia, in Primorye. In Europe it grows in Belgium, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Finland, Switzerland and Sweden.

Important! Fruits in late summer - early autumn.

Is the mushroom edible or not?

This species is considered little-known and conditionally edible. Some sources claim that it is inedible.

Comment! Although some mushroom lovers consider it possible to use the product fresh, this can cause significant harm to the human body.

Since it has low nutritional value, it is not of particular interest to mushroom pickers.

Doubles and their differences

The representative has several doubles. Among them:

  1. Slimy cobweb. It has a more brown tint. Its surface is more heavily covered with mucus. This species is conditionally edible.
  2. Cobweb staining. It is distinguished by a cap: its edges are lowered more towards the bottom. Brown color. Belongs to the edible variety.
  3. Slime cobweb. This representative is characterized by a more impressive size and is more heavily covered with mucus. It is classified as conditionally edible.

Conclusion

The smeared cobweb is a yellow mushroom covered with mucus. Grows in coniferous and mixed forests. Conditionally edible, used for food only after careful heat treatment. Has several doubles.
