Entoloma collected is an inedible, toxic mushroom, widespread everywhere. In literary sources, representatives of the Entolomov family were called pink-plated. There are only scientific synonyms for the species: Entoloma conferendum, Nolanea conferenda, Nolanea rickenii, Rhodophyllus staurosporus, Rhodophyllus rickenii.
What does Entoloma look like when collected?
Medium-sized mushrooms do not have an attractive appearance that would make you want to put them in a basket. These forest gifts themselves are not very tall, making it not always possible to detect them.
Description of the cap
The diameter of the collected Entoloma cap is up to 5 cm. Its main characteristics:
- in young representatives of the species, it is conical in shape, with a tucked edge;
- in older ones it is open, almost flat or convex, with a small tubercle;
- the top is smooth, in the middle there are small, fibrous scales;
- the skin color is dark, brownish-gray, brown;
- the plates are frequent, do not touch the stem, young are white, then gradually, as they grow older, they become richer - to a dark pink color;
- the pulp of the collected Entoloma is saturated with moisture.
Description of the leg
The height of a thin, even cylindrical leg is 2-8 cm, diameter is from 2 to 7 mm. From below, the fibrous stalk slightly widens and is covered with slight pubescence. The surface color is brownish-brown, sometimes dark gray. There is no ring.
Is the mushroom edible or not?
Entoloma when collected is inedible and poisonous. Such specimens are not suitable for food.
Symptoms of poisoning, first aid
When consuming a toxic species collected by Entoloma, the first signs of poisoning are noticeable within 1.5 hours. The condition worsens after a few hours:
- the patient is feeling sick;
- the inflammatory process affects fever and severe colic in the abdomen;
- frequent bowel movements;
- hands and feet become cold;
- the pulse is difficult to palpate.
It is necessary to drink plenty of fluids, use enterosorbents, gastric lavage and an enema if there are no bowel movements. If there is a noticeable deterioration in the patient’s condition, the patient is immediately sent to a medical facility. Losing time with clear symptoms of poisoning after eating forest products threatens not only poor health, but sometimes even death.
Where and how does it grow
Poisonous entoloma is found in all areas of the European continent. The species lives on poor soils, in lowlands, even on mountain slopes. Appears from mid-summer to late September.
Doubles and their differences
The harvested Entoloma does not have edible counterparts. There is a slight similarity with the equally poisonous Entoloma crushed, which is larger in size.
Conclusion
Entoloma collected only by mistake can be found among good mushrooms. Careful attention is required when collecting different species of the entoloma family. It is better to take only well-known specimens.
