History of selection
Pavel Iosifovich Lavrik worked on developing the variety, after whom the apple tree was named. The breeder did not have time to finish the work, but it was successfully completed by his colleague L.A. Zhmurko. The birthplace of the new product is the Leningrad Fruit and Vegetable Experimental Station. For selection, we used the ancient folk summer variety Papirovka and the late autumn Bellefleur-Chinese apple tree.

Landing rules
Memory Lavrik apple trees are grown in sunny areas. Basic requirements for the place:
- groundwater distance is at least 3-3.5 m;
- good ventilation, but no drafts;
- drainage;
- The soil is better podzolic or loam.
The variety is suitable for both spring and autumn planting. In regions with harsh climates, it is better to choose the beginning of the season. The planting hole is prepared in advance for spring planting in the fall:
- Dig a hole with a diameter of 1-1.2 m and a depth of 0.7-0.9 m.
- Pour fertile soil with organic matter and minerals at the bottom.
- Organize drainage.
- Spill the hole with 50-60 liters of water.
- Cover with waterproof material.
When planting several trees, holes are made at intervals of at least 3.5 m. An apple tree is planted as follows:
- Dig a stake on the north side.
- Place the seedling in the hole and carefully straighten the roots.
- Fill the hole with soil, compacting it layer by layer with your hands.
- Pour in 50-60 liters of water.
- Mulch the tree trunk circle with sawdust or compost.
Care instructions
The Memory Lavrik apple tree is quite unpretentious in care. It only needs to be watered specifically during the dry season. Enough 4-6 times during it. The tree spends 50 liters of water, introducing it into the circle around the trunk. Young seedlings are moistened as the top layer of soil dries. From August, watering is reduced, and in the fall it is stopped completely. This is important for preparing for winter.
In spring and autumn, the soil in the tree trunk circle should be dug up.During the season, it is cultivated with a hoe or sown with herbs.
Fertilizing is applied twice a year:
- spring - ammonium nitrate, application rate is calculated according to the age of the tree;
- autumn – organic matter and potassium-phosphorus complex.
The Memory Crown of Lavrik must be formed. This pruning is carried out in the spring. It is better to choose a sparse-tiered type - the presence of a central conductor and several skeletal branches, which are located at different heights and far from each other. Fruiting shoots are shortened by a third every year.
Sanitary pruning is also necessary. Remove all damaged, dry and diseased branches, specimens that grow inward or vertically. Anti-aging pruning begins at the age of 12-15.
Memory Lavrik's frost resistance is good, but preparation for winter should not be ruled out. To wrap the barrel, you can use roofing material, burlap or nylon. Additionally, this will serve as protection against rodents if you also lubricate the bark with fuel oil or grease. The roots are covered with a layer of spruce branches, straw or dry leaves. Whitewashing of the trunk is also necessary - protection from pests and sunburn.
