Tamarix in landscape design: compositions, combinations

Tamarix in landscape design, photo and its description, as well as external characteristics cannot be confused with other ornamental plants. The tree has many names and over 57 varieties that grow in the wild. Tamarix, or beaded flower, is elegant during flowering and unpretentious to climatic zones. Due to its attractive appearance, it is used for landscape design in different directions.

What does tamarix go with in the garden?

The tree is very unusual in appearance and shape. Among the openwork foliage in the summer it blooms with a pink-purple inflorescence. Decorative beadwork looks like a miniature tree with long branches, so it will only fit in certain styles and compositions in the landscape. Its peculiarity is that it looks attractive both in group planting and in single planting. Tamarix can be easily given the required shape or height; it is enough to trim it before the beginning of May.

In landscape design, a medium-height tree will be a pleasure to the eye if lavender is planted around it. The delicate combination of flowering plants is reminiscent of Provence style. In the landscape of a garden with a Mediterranean design, green and blue shades predominate, so for variety, white and light pink beads brighten up the composition. Large and tall tamarix are used for single planting in strict landscapes: loft, minimalism, Japanese style.

Advice! It is recommended to plant young bushes in the corners, in the middle or at the entrance to the garden. Small varieties are planted in the center or along the perimeter of the flower bed.

However, the beaded tree does not go well with low hedges and too tall cone-shaped trees. It is not planted next to conifers, because their root system will dominate the plant. Also, Tamarix will not fit organically into the surroundings of a flower garden or a composition of fruit trees.

Creating compositions depending on the type and variety

To create a harmoniously composed picture, designers and gardeners recommend using only a few varieties of Tamarix. This is explained by the adaptive characteristics of the varieties and attractive appearance.

Tamarix branchy – a tree with high bushiness, average height up to 1.5-2 m. It mainly grows on sandy beaches and along the banks of rocky rivers. Combines with medium-sized shrubs: Blue Chip juniper, cypress, Gnome pine, Glauka Globoza spruce. Beaded beads of this variety are rarely used for decorative hedges and compositions of bright colors.

Variety Graceful - the exact opposite of Tamarix Branched. A low-growing ornamental tree suitable for any landscape. However, you should not plant among birches or willows. Blooming beaded flowers fit harmoniously into the green garden. Yew hedges with the Graceful variety look aesthetically pleasing. Also original are variations of the shrub with flower beds, where it will be surrounded by climbing plants. Features of using tamarix in the garden landscape

Typically, decorative trees not only complement compositions, but also hide unevenness in style in the garden landscape. Decorative Tamarix, with its blooming splendor, smoothes out the severity and excessive charm of bright styles. The peculiarity of growing this plant in the garden is that the roots of the beaded plant can either dominate or neutrally coexist with other shrubs. That is why sandy or loamy soil is used to grow Tamarix with high bushiness. It is important to remember that the root system of neighboring plants should be located at a level of 20 to 70 cm of the ground surface. Therefore, bushes of medium and small height are planted around, regardless of the variety and family.

Tamarix in compositions

Tall and medium varieties of ornamental shrubs with low bushiness are suitable for planting in the center of a flower bed. For complete harmony, plants should not differ much from Tamarix in color. The tree looks aesthetically pleasing in a spacious area without any composition in any landscape style. You can rarely find beaded flowers in flower beds, but in the Provence style they are planted mixed with lavender or juniper. Rocky gardens in the Japanese style are very popular, because in the landscape the beaded garden emphasizes the tenderness of the transitions of color shades. There are also domesticated species that can be grown in regions with warm climates - they emphasize the aesthetics of an apartment greenhouse.Tamarix in the garden landscape design in the photo in a minimalist style:

Rules for care and pruning for best results

Any landscape is suitable for Tamarix, but the location of groundwater should be at a level of 4 to 7 m. The ornamental tree does not tolerate excess moisture, so it grows well when watered 1-2 times a month. To complete the landscape design, young tamarix are often pruned, this will speed up the growth of the beaded plant. 2-3 haircuts in the spring and summer season are enough. Before preparing for winter, standard sanitary pruning is carried out. In the northern regions, it is customary to cut off all flowering branches; otherwise, Tamarix can shed the excess on its own.

Conclusion

Tamarix in landscape design photos and other interpretations are not able to convey the original appearance of the tree. Each variety is unique during flowering. It really does not require scrupulous care; you just need to select fertile soil and a landscape with a design that can be completed by planting this plant.
